Hope they don't listen to OP, I love them! No, I don't buy them, but I do occasionally get really great stuff from them. People who have issues with them should just never take the daily rewards if that's how they feel about them; of course the devs are going to do their best to get people to log in every day, every GALS does this.

I log in for hours every day anyway, have done for 7 years; it's really nice to get occasional fun stuff.

    Indeed.

I don't think people appreciate how much revenue these boxes likely provide for ZOS. The very same revenue that allows many to log into the game without having to pay a monthly subscription fee.

I love the free boxes, its gives gems who I can buy crate only stuff with.

Yes we have endeavors, but they are not very great for the cheaper stuff.
Superior is 16 gems or 1000 seals
Epic is 40 gems or 2000 seals
Legendary is 100 gems or 3600 seals
Apex is 400 gems or 8000 seals

So you want to buy the epic and more so superior stuff with gems if you have them rater than seals you want to spend on apex and legendary.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I agree with your sentiment OP, but this is something that most people won't agree with and ZOS will definitely never change.

The real issue is the daily login rewards. I know that's an unpopular opinion, but I'm a person with a lot of those and I can explain why.

The daily login rewards trigger our reward system. We get a hit of feel good molecules in our brain when we receive them. While that might seem like a good thing, our brain adapts to it by making us more resistant to those molecules.

So like a drug, instead of making us feel good, over time we start to need the daily login rewards just to reach our baseline.

This is why they were introduced! It's a basic Skinner Box mechanic. It's to condition us to login every day.

    f70e31056e459e9fb3c13d7dcb25bb80.jpg

It can be argued all games are skinner boxes, but rewards for completing challenges are different. Yes, they can still disregulate our brain, but physical and mental challenges come with the upside of improving us as well. That's why I have always loved challenging games.

The daily login rewards and crates present no challenge and therefore lack that upside. They condition players to login and spend money.

But modern life is full of such traps. It is why people find phones, memes, tiktok and other forms of social media to be so addictive. They will never be regulated. So people must learn to self-regulate.

Andrew Huberman believes that the ability to self-regulate is going to be one of the most important traits that dictate how successful people are going into the future.

Crown crates are my favorite daily reward because I enjoy having a chance to get adornments and body markings I don't currently have a way to get. If you don't want boxes, don't take them away from others who do want them. You have freedom of will. You don't need to expend that will on trying to convince a game company to take away temptations from you, at the expense of many other players. You can instead use your willpower to just refuse taking daily rewards, refuse the little bubble that tells you there's something to grab, or refuse using the rewards of a crate. It's a videogame. If you can't handle whatever temptations are in it that are such a threat to you, then perhaps you should consider working on your own coping mechanisms.

I am grateful for getting some clown crates out of zos silly little system. It's money I don't have to spend for a chance to get cosmetics I no longer have access to. I choose to participate in crown crates because cosmetics are important to my gameplay experience since I am so focused on the character aspect of it.

I have no objection to receiving crown crates on the reward calendar, and I hope that they continue to give us crown crates.

I do not purchase crown crates, nor does receiving them make me want to purchase them. But I do enjoy opening them when I get them for free, and I appreciate the gems that are added to my account as a result of this.

I have no desire to take risks with real money, and nothing on the reward calendar has ever tempted me to do so. Personally, this is not an issue for me.

If they stopped giving us crown crates, it would be a minor disappointment that would not impact my desire to log in daily. I log in daily because I want to play the game I enjoy, not because I am incentivized to do so. The log in calendar is just a bonus on top of what I am already going to do anyway.

But I like what I have been getting as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the game, and I hope ZOS is not discouraged by negative sentiments which do not reflect the opinion of the player base as a whole.

By all means, add a "reject reward" button for people who don't want to accept daily rewards. As long as it doesn't affect me and my account, that's fine.

It would be a good idea if players were able to hide the "rejection button" or have a redundancy/fail safe popping up to say "are you sure" so that it cannot accidentally be clicked. I can only imagine the irritation it would create within the player base if they could inadvertently reject a reward. (I can feel the forum threads lurking on the horizon already.)

Ultimately, we are all responsible for ourselves. This is not a game for young children. It has an M17+ rating.

If you are allowing the presence of a loot box destroy your immersion and enjoyment of the game, I am afraid that is also your own responsibility. It is best to reconsider why you are allowing such a minor part of the game to have such a great effect on your enjoyment.

I heavily disagree with the suggestion of stopping crown crates as log in rewards. Just because one person doesn't like them, doesn't mean everyone (including those who do love them) should lose the option entirely.

I like crown crates, especially through means of Gifted, Free or Earned. It allows me to get the chance of some neat things I wouldn't otherwise have and I could turn the other things I don't care for into gems. Gems that I can use for something I do want; whether it's cosmetic or utility. Some things are better bought with gems then endeavors and sometimes - opening crates can be fun and somewhat a guilty pleasure. Crown crates are probably one of the better log in rewards, I'd love more crates and less of the meals/poisons.

I do agree for the ability to "Skip Daily Log in" button towards the bottom of the calendar or a "x" "✔️" option on the day of the item where someone can click checkmark for claim or x for decline. For those who really don't want them and wants to continue down the daily calendar; so they can be happy and the people who love crates can also be happy.

I don't mind the crates, I just wish we had the option to turn each/any item into gems before it went into the collection.

There's a lot of stuff in my collection I'd rather not have at all, and getting at least some gems for them would be a better option than them littering my collection, but there are many items I would just flat out delete if I had the option.

I imagine there are not a few other players who feel that way.
Think of how much DB reduction that one option would provide if we could just cast many unwanted items into the chasm of despair.

Should restaurants stop serving food... just because one person has a tendency to overeat? This is a self-control issue.

I don't want to argue, but don't restaurants usually remove customers who eat too much forcefully? I thought it was a thing in north america and europe?

Andrew Huberman believes that the ability to self-regulate is going to be one of the most important traits that dictate how successful people are going into the future.

This. I have had issues with the "daily login rewards" from the beginning, because it is (in my opinion) an attempt to control player habits and sends the message that players who can only play a few times a week, but potentially in large blocks of play time, are less valuable. I wish they also tracked the time you played each month and, if it is more than the equivalent of 5 min a day (the time it takes to log in and grab the prize) that you'd get them all at the end of the month.

But of course that's never going to happen because it absolutely isn't just a "player loyalty reward" but a carrot to log in and see the changing limited time offers in the Crown Store every day.

That said, I don't quite get how the Crown Crates as a daily login reward are worse than any of the other rewards offered from that perspective. Whether it is a house or a pet or some tri pots or a Crate or a DLC or gold, they are all still the same thing... a way to entice you to spend more money in the game. At least with the Crates you can accept them and ignore them as others have pointed out, which is the best case scenario for something you don't want. All of the other rewards do go directly into your inventory or collectibles or whatever.

From that perspective, I have no issue with the Crown Crates as a daily login reward. On the contrary, I enjoy them. I don't like what's behind daily login rewards as a concept but it isn't like they will be phased out if I refuse to claim them, so I still do take them when I log in. Also, I have advocated strongly that "big" rewards appear earlier in the month, to be more accessible to all, which ZOS does seem to do more regularly now.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Man, people really hate free stuff.

I feel like we are in the area of f around and find out. I’ve seen so many threads complaining about free stuff like this, the house, the major compensation and I feel ZOS is going to look at this as negative feedback and not do it again. Years from now people will ask why we haven’t gotten “good” free stuff and people will point to these threads.

I like free crates because I don’t gamble on the crown crates. The stuff in the free ones are usually meh quality so it’s basically free crown gems. So i can collect those and endeavors and actually get what I want, if anything, from the crates. Getting the crates does not make me want to gamble on more crates.

Man folks are tough to please. I like that zos has been giving us a wider variety of login rewards recently and I hope it continues, regardless of whether any individual reward perfectly satisfies my needs.

As for the free crates, I just look at it like free gems (similar to the ones I get from twitch drops), which eventually add up to the point where I can buy a thing I really want.

Some days the login rewards are useless to me, but might be just what someone else is looking for. I don't spend much of my time thinking deeply about them.

I'm definitely not gonna complain about them. Keep 'em coming!

    Dear Bethesda Team,

I no longer wish to receive Crown Crates (or Loot boxes) after login as a daily reward. For me, these loot boxes are not a "reward", but they seduce the player to log in everyday. This is more like gambling instead of earning rewards for achievements. I see the fact that you integrate them into the daily rewards as an attempt to hook me. Also other daily rewards during the jubilee like a house or DLC don't put me in a more conciliatory mood.

This is the third month this year that you've been trying to sell me these loot boxes. Sure there may be players who don't mind. However, it bothers me. I also don't want the "free" random content in these boxes. I'm proud of my earned collection: Gestures, trophies, mounts etc. And I don't want my collection to be littered with this "free" content from the loot boxes.

Either you don't offer loot boxes in the daily rewards at all, or I want to (at least) have the freedom to REFUSE the daily reward without a blinking speech bubble in the chat window reminding me constantly that I'm "allowed" to pick up this daily "reward" even several days.

I started playing Elder Scrolls Online a few years ago because it has a nice lore and is buy-to-play (rather than free-to-play). I invested a lot of time in the game and hoped to be with it for a long time. The fact that there were already loot boxes when I started playing didn't bother me, as they weren't forced on me (until today). But now I have the feeling that I have to adjust myself (i.e. accept more inconvenience) instead of simply enjoying the game. I do really love walking through the great scenery, listen to the beautiful music while enjoying the interesting stories you've come up with in the quests. Unfortunately, my feeling has changed as the loot boxes are starting to get on my nerves and destroy my immersion.

For the future, please skip offering loot boxes (or Crown Crates as you call them) as a daily "reward". Or at least give me the free choice to refuse this daily log-in reward. Please!

    Many thanks and best wishes,
    Spin

how about you accept the free crown crates and let Zos close down this topic.

just because you have every right to complain about everything doesn't mean you should. that's how you make easy enemies from everyone.

and its a free crate ABSOLUTELY COMPLETE FREE!!!. why complain at all about something that is truly free?

Uh no. People shouldn't have to do the daily endeavors just to get a login reward. Not everybody has the time for, or wants to do a dungeon, trial, PvP, killing monsters, etc. That defeats the purpose of a login reward and would just get people to avoid playing

I'll never understand why people have so much of a problem getting free stuff in games. At the end of the day the recipient can choone not to open them so it is unfair to take them away from everyone else because a small margin don't want them. They come with stuff that goes into your collections that you never need to use or look at again and stuff you can break into gems. I am not seeing the problem.

I could have worded it better, I was having a "words are hard" moment, it is the supply of the media that is illegal. Ever since the James Bulger murder the UK has had very strict rules regarding media ratings and the supply of such.
Think of it like alcohol or tobacco, it is illegal to sell alcohol or tobacco to someone under age, or to someone you suspect is buying it for someone under age. Same applies to media.

I am in no way saying I agree or disagree with these laws, just saying that they are what they are (in the UK at least).

Interesting. Is this common in Europe or is it just a UK thing for now? I know in the US, MA is a suggestion to parents not a legally binding restriction.
