How I ruined my ESO with a simple click

This is a PSA to avoid a mistake I made.

1. Create a guild.
2. Use the guild bank as your bank and store valuables there over the decade.
3. Don't give any of your members any powers.
4. Join daily dungeon, and when leaving group have guild tab open up and leave your guild instead.

I highly recommend everyone who has valuable guilds to find an add-on to make the leaving of guild more difficult.
Even with a mistake like this the support sadly does not have tools to help you (I asked them).

With this simple click and loss of my progress my motivation of staying at Tamriel has perished. It is not just the fact that I lost my progress but also that support has no tools to help you should something game-breaking like this happen to you even if you have sunk unhealthy amount of gold doubloons into this game.

I'd like to thank everyone inworld that I met over the 7 years. Most people of this community are awesome and I am going to miss the encounters.

(Oh and if anyone has any tips that I have overlooked to fix this issue, please do let me know.)

One of the accounts in the guild will automatically be given leadership of the guild and all appropriate permissions. So figure out which acount that is and they can reinvie you

Not useful now, but something in the "in the future, consider doing this" category...

When ESO is on sale, you can pick up the base game for around $5. Having an alt account is very useful in this game. Need someone to bounce mail off of? Send it to the alt account. Need someone to be second-in-command in case you do something silly like leave your own guild? That's what the alt account is for. ZOS screws up their database and locks up your main account for 10 days? Alt account!

Lots of uses. Highly recommended.

I've done that several times over the years.

I unbind guild, i.e. no g for guild. Have to navigate to it with the mouse and menu.

Much less likely to accidentally end up there when you're pressing x for something else.

That is absolutely horrible, that is a lot of time invested to have it all gone that quickly. I've almost done the exact same thing selected the leave guild option since it's right there with the other leave options. Could they not even open a ticket for you to research it?

I suggest calling their support line and just keep asking for a supervisor and not get off the phone until someone there is willing to at least look into it. Sometimes you get people who are new or just uncaring on support lines but many others are actually there to help those that call.

Yes, this has happened to many of us including me. Luckily I was invited back right away.

I don't know about now but years back in my main guild the Guild Master did just what you did. We had no Alt Guide Masters, he had no Alt accounts and so on. Plus no one in the guild could invite him due to member restrictions.

ZOS DID help him and did restore him as Guild Master.

Oh, and I think there is an Addon for preventing this. I think this addon has the function in it to remove the "Leave Guild" button. https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info3665-Nothankyou-EndlessArchive.html

How I keep myself safe from just this mistake is, I made an alt account, and the alt account has officer perms in the bank guild.
If I do accidentally leave the guild, (which hasn't happened yet) I would in theory be the highest ranking person and get the crown on my alt account

Support should definitely be able to queue an invite for you back to the guild. You'd probably need to respond again after rejoining to get ownership back, but it's definitely within their capabilities.

I use "No, Thank you" add on which has an option to disable "leave guild" button for all or specific guilds. As a owner of five own guild banks I am truly sorry for what happened to you. Hopefully you recover it.

Thank you all for the responses. You are all very informative and helpful and with your help the problem got resolved! I also now use No Thank You addon and strongly recommend it to everyone.

I managed to get into contact with one of my friends in a guild, and it seems because he was first one to log in and get guildmaster rank, he was nice enough to transfer guild back to me and not run away with the money. While I was little bit excited to explore the new world of Azeroth as I came to a conclusion that I lost this battle, I am still very pleased that I can stick around here longer.

I must still say I am very disappointed with the support quality of ZOS. Knowing that should something account breaking happen to me in a future that support will likely not be able to help makes me bit less keen on ESO.

The first friend I managed to get on got the Housemaster rank and transferred guild back to me. Thank you for this information.

That is very good recommendation, I will consider this during next sale.

Maybe I did just get very unlucky with the support representative. Long time ago when I had some issues with the game I also received top tier support. Perhaps there has been a change of staff or drop of quality.

Here is exactly what ZOS responded to me about their abilities to invite me back:
"Regrettably, due to tool limitations, we are unable to add you back to the guild itself. We would recommend reaching out to either the officers or the current guild leader so they can re-invite you to the guild."

This plugin is excellent and I do now have it running. I strongly recommend everyone to get it.

Happened to me years ago and ZOS solved the issue and re-invite me. The next problem, i wasn't the Guildmaster and I had no option to talk to the members to invite me because all 9 was offline years ago. ZOS gave me the rights.

I think it was about 6 maybe 7 years ago. It was the time after GameMasters are gone.

"Regrettably, due to tool limitations, we are unable to add you back to the guild itself. We would recommend reaching out to either the officers or the current guild leader so they can re-invite you to the guild."

Mostly the same response.
If they want, they literally join into the guild and invite you.

In my opinion the GameMasters in 2014 had more "power" than the current support to solve the things immediately. .


PS: Sometimes I miss the GameMasters in the game, they was like a part of us.
