    Update:

Ul'vor finally drop at about hour 10. Was the 5th geyers of the day for me on Monday

15 Bosses in on VVardenfell and neither drop so far.

Glad to only have one place to farm now at least so no trying to decide what zone to go to when I have free time. Only grind after I have done the things I want to accomplish for the day so I don't miss out on the other event advantages.

So for first 7 days of the event I got no pages, and invested hours collectively (total play time basically) over 7 days was about 40 hours.

After maintenance yesterday, I got all the pages. Total time invested about 12 hours.

So I suspect they upped drop rates during maintenance due to everyone and their mother complaining, rightfully so.

About three hours for me on Geysers for that Staff.

Less than an hour fishing for Trueflame, with the note that I had Sharp out, Artaeum Pickled Broth active, and the fishing stars for increased fish quality and decreased cast time active.

Right now I've only attempted Trueflame and Staff of Worms:

Trueflame - 3rd fishing node (one had been partially done, so I think it would've been around my 27th or 28th cast).
Staff of Worms - Lost track, but I got it today on my 29th dolmen after having put about 2 hours combined into farming it the previous days. So about 3 hours.

Those were the ones I wanted the most, not sure if I'll even attempt the other ones given the anecdotal horror stories I keep reading about people farming for an entire day without anything to show for it.

Gave up these silly grinds for stuff that will be superceded or will be nerfed

I once sat on a Nirnroot in Shadowfen grinding for the Harpoon's Kilt. I was subjected to enormous abuse from my fellow players because I wouldn't move and let them have my spot.

That's the last lead I chased and still shudder when I have to go to Shadowfen.

I won't describe the disgust I feel every time I see a poor Nirnroot.

barbas helm was worst for me lol, ~200 WB to get that one, sunna'rah i got relatively quickly (after about 4-5 hours of WBs instead of 17 hours lol)

it seems like the 2 most difficult ones on avg are the ones from vvardenfell WBs, either one drop or the other will take significantly longer unless you happen to be lucky

What is really a terribe side effect of this terrible grind is that group content is almost impossible now outside of guilds because only few people log to a dungeon or trial. It was already before difficult to get a tank for certain content. Now it is impossible.

I've just waited almost an hour in search of a random group for a specific dungeon that I wanted to do.

    Hm...

After doing 40 dolmens just now, again without a drop, I do ask myself, if the style page is really droping???

Been doing dolmens in Auridon. Could it be that not in all Zones the style will drop?

Trueflame: I think around ~100 fish? Not a bad grind, still need master angler and don't have a huge roe stockpile.

Sunna'rah and Barbas: didn't keep count, but it felt like it took forever. Camped songbird for most of it.

Staff of worms: my second dolmen into seriously farming. I did some here and there for other reasons earlier in the event but not a huge number.

Ul'vor staff: took >58 geysers. I kept all the boxes from the grind to open at once and I had 58, but I didn't get a box every time. Definitely more than half the time though, ground AOEs + templar beam did the trick.

I tried the geysers, but every time the shell popped and nothing came out I felt stupid for wasting my time there. So many people not only made it unpleasant but meant I didn't get a box drop either. I only did about 30 of these, just too unpleasant.

I like WB's and dolmens, but crowds again made something I usually enjoy a pain. I stopped trying for staff in Vardenfell. That one is just it would be nice, but so totally not worth this grind. I stopped after something less than 100 WBs. I got the helmet BTW, something I had no interest in at all.

I would like the staff of Worms, but I'm afraid if I keep up the grind it will taint dolmens for me, something I usually do in my regular play routine. I have probably done over 100 of these, and I don't plan to grind on them anymore. I will do the daily and that's it until the crowds die down.

I got the Trueflame sword replica after about 150 casts, no buffs, all around Daggerfall docks. I was really only after rare fish with the thought that Trueflame would be a bonus if it happened.

At this point I've decided to pick one thing I want the most (staff of worms) and after I get it to just let the other stuff go. I've lost count of the number of dolmens/hours over the days, but too many. Far far far too many.

At this point even if they adjusted the drop rate to something reasonable it's too late for the event to feel like anything but a dismal failure for me.

Can I have a moment of your time and share something with you?

I've been with ESO since like a month or two after it was released. Although now I wish I had been part of the beta group too, however at the time many of the video games coming out were terrible and so many of us had no idea which way ESO would follow lol. Being part of ESO for those first I'd say 3 years, it was glorious. While everyone didn't always get along, for the most part we got along. You know I could ask to join a group or start a guild or just do whatever and everyone was just there to play the game. Around the time when ESO no longer required a sub and One Tam came out, I started noticing some changes.

Over time ESO moved away from this and the more people started playing, the more division was introduced into the game, with many being kind of harsh towards others without any reason for it. Its like I'm sure even you know people from your life that are judgmental, overly critical, scathing, lacking empathy, etc and you know so on and so forth. I'm making a point, this is not intended to attack anyone because I know people who've proven themselves such that they have their place on this list for me as well.

I'm proud to say I was part of ESO at that time as it truly was a unique experience where everyone got along well and left the IRL stuff at the door where it belongs (or in the dumpster if I'm being completely honest). Regardless of whether anyone agrees with everything I think, its been my experience that most of us enjoy playing games like ESO so we can be ourselves, play the game our way as they say and I just think that is something to be respected, to be preserved and should never be put into the basket with IRL perspectives that we seek a break from, even if its only a couple hours a week.

And so, while I know this post has gotten kind of wordy, I just ask for people out there to do better, please consider being more inclusive by not trying to partition folks from a personal level and maybe be a little kinder to each other. Otherwise its like why play ESO or any online game, if I'm put into my place without being given any benefit of a doubt regarding anonymity or being judged wholely excluding my demonstrated merits. You know, I'm not trying to come down on anyone, but because of this I am also forced to not follow some of these folks here or in game who are like this. Them being the way they are forces me into spending extra time being someone I don't want to be in addition to IRL garbage.

Having played ESO continuously these past 10 years, I wonder if it's fair to draw a distinction between the game and the forum, in the sense that what goes on in the forum isn't perhaps representative of what goes on in the game?

Do you only PvE or do you PvP often as well? Throughout the years I have been engaged with many different aspects of the game. For example, I know some who stick to their Guild and really seem to demonstrate a lack of mobility regarding other things such as PvP. (this is by their own word not me trying to figure them out lol)

Hence my comment because I've dealt with almost everything the game has had to throw at me but even still it seems there's become like a dark cloud over things.

Ok perhaps. However I have to ask, what do we do then if you're wrong? It just sounds like you're placing a 50/50 risk assessment on any post having accuracy regardless of its contents. Which this in and of itself isn't terrible however what if what they're saying is proven true. I hear stuff like this often and if posting on the forums, even those of us posting who have experience and been with the game for years doesn't matter...

Then what does? How do we break out of the 50/50. Is it based on our individual biases or merits of the post?

I wasn't quoting you or directly replying to your post, I was influenced more by spartaxoxo's post really. I wondered whether the community people experience on the forum is different to the one they experience in the game.

For one thing. we know that a lot of the negative posts on the forum come from people who aren't actively playing the game. For another, we often read here from some how dead the game is, while others report seeing record numbers of players in multiple areas of the game and not just in event areas. We are only presented with the Steam chart figures when they're in decline, never when they're in the ascendancy.

So I think it's fair to question whether there are two different communities, one on the forum and a different one in the game. But then I was only asking the question, not making a definitive statement.

There was never any expectation that you were specifically talking to anyone or that you weren't :) which of course would not be my place to say why someone would provide their thoughts on a public forum.

I've just heard others expressing opinions similar to yours and I must admit it feels like there's this tug of war where we should be able to find common ground and seek solutions you know? Making a problem more complicated is one way to solve it but perhaps not the best way.

Either way, during my time here I've done my best to be myself, to post what I know to be true and in doing so it just seems like more and more there seems to be this divide between people here for that reason and us feeling like we're being pushed away for reasons not listed. I dunno if that makes any sense but its very frustrating and again it calls into question why have a forum?

Because that's not a forum, thats one group being more or less ignored because they're saying things that the other side doesn't want to hear when I really wish there was some way to bridge these divides. But more and more with some I have known and certain organizations it just seems like these concepts are something included to maintain an image rather than maintain good practices.
