Accidentally Missing a Daily Reward Makes Another Bummer

I missed another daily reward because I wanted to get it on a different character and I forgot about it (my mistake) with all the other event information and many notices and such. I wanted to get the Tel Var on a different character than my main, but I forgot to grab it when I was on the other character. I am not sure it matters who you collect Tel Var on, but it does for the other PvP currency. So I am out the final reward for the month on PS5-EU because of that.

All of you can chime in about how "easy it is" but I am playing on both the PS5 and PC, making ZOS extra income and a lot is going on now. I will obviously survive missing a small daily reward, but this is exactly why I should be able to collect the reward I was on for (as long as it is in the same month) and not be penalized because I manually forgot to scoop it up.

Trivial, easy, whatever or not, it is an annoyance that could be easily avoided.

The daily rewards are for the account.
Any Telvar you get can be dropped in your bank and shared with any of your characters.
    Same with xp scrolls, etc.
Doesn't matter what character picks them up, so long as you log into the game on your account and you take the reward, so just get it with the first character you log in with, then move it.
Even AP earned in PVP can be banked and shared, but only the account character that earns it will get the xp for it.

*edit* My mistaken typing, said account gets the xp when I meant character... as many good peeps have pointed out below (thank you!).

AP is a two purpose 'currency'. It counts as currency that can be banked like any other currency. It also counts as xp toward the Alliance skill lines for the character who earns it or collects it as a log in reward. So for the AP daily rewards, it does make a difference which character collects it.

I play on PC and when I log in and there is a daily reward to be claimed, the notification icon in my chat box constantly glows at me which I find too distracting to ignore. So it is easy for me to never miss picking it up just to make that glow go away. And yes, when I log on and there is an AP daily reward, I relog onto the character I want to get the AP boost to their Alliance skills.

I don't think the Tel Var are character-specific (as in, I don't think it matters which character you collect them on).

    Alliance Points definitely are, though.

Have you remembered to file form 173(b)(iv) ?

This stuff always annoys me. Back in the day you could lose like a month's experience points if you didn't update your clone in Eve Online. Super annoying and something they ditched.

I think Alliance Points are the only login reward where it matters which character collects them (even then IMO it's not worth worrying about unless it's a lot of AP), for everything else just collect it on the first character you log into, then bank it if necessary.

(AP can be banked as well, but you gain Alliance rank XP when you first earn them, so it can help level them up.)

And I managed to miss a day (accidentally) on both PS5-NA and PS5-EU already. Thus I have a demotivator in my face for the rest of the month.

Yeah, some of you will tell me to "get guud" in this area, but I actually gathered Skyshards for my relatively new Warden on PS5-EU and seem to have missed the pickup on both platforms, even though I did most/all of the endeavors on both each day.

I wish ZOS would keep this in mind. It is not a question of how hard it is, it is an issue of having "you missed it!" thrown in our faces for an entire month in this case!

Not a horrid thing to miss the IC currency for me at least, but the principle is still annoying.

Maybe the best way would be to do it the way DCU does it. You just have to login for 21 days during the month to get the good stuff. After the 21st, for those extra achievers, there are some very minor token rewards for the rest of the month, but I’m betting a lot of people just logging in for the rewards stop at the 21st day.

I missed a login reward and endeavors this one time because I was inattentive. But instead of posting on the forums about it, I wrote a little post-it note next to my gaming pc that said "ESO: check login reward and endeavors". It's served me well. Good luck!

Nice to know. I have done it far too many times and a post it note would not solve the problem.

But my core point in the OP is that this is a relatively easy change on the part of ZOS that would remove this demotivator in the game. But instead of addressing that, many reply with "do better" instead of realizing people will always forget some things. ALWAYS!

The demotivating aspect is harmful to the game overall. Hopefully you never face it and even if you did it may never be enough to cause serious harm, but it is simply another straw that adds to the weight on the camel!

Tel Vars aren't char spec currency, you can bank it from any char you have. Jist take it on any lohhed char and bank it. When you will need it, take it from the bank.

That's already how it works. The rewards ZOS considers special are marked with a star in the corner and even this month when there's more than usual the last one is on the 20th day. (Usually special rewards are on the 7th, 14th or 21st.)

The last week or so is always small amounts of gold, AP, tel var or small amounts of crafting materials, things you can get relatively easily in-game (unless you never play PvP or enter IC, then you can't get the AP and tel var, but also won't be able to spend them)

Genuinely not trying to be rude but this is so clearly a you problem and not really the fault of ZOS. I’m rarely one to defend a billion dollar company but like, if you get demotivated to play a game that is supposed to be for fun, because you can’t get an extra tiny last day of the month reward, that’s no really on them?
If you don’t like the game apart from rewards then don’t play, but that’s obviously not the case since you’ve said you forget to check the rewards often?
They already put the best rewards early/middle of the month so people who miss a few don’t miss out on anything big, I really don’t think they need to do more.
Btw, no aspect of this game should cause “serious harm” I mean this sincerely and not as a jab, it is just a game made for us all to enjoy. If missing stuff or any other aspect (bar abuse from other players) is causing you “serious harm” then you need to log off.

Anyone would think ZOS hide the rewards so you have to remember to go looking for them, but they're in your face the moment you log in. If you choose to do something else before claiming them, or before logging in a different character to claim them, there's still (at least on PC, no idea about console) a reminder in the chat window until you've got them. This really isn't a ZOS problem.

Endeavors are a way to buy crown crate items you want without having to spend real cash and playing roulette for it. I'd call that kind of a deal.

I have to agree with jlats and Tandor, and if we miss the Endeavors it's a WE issue, not ZOS.

If we really care for somehting then we should pay real attention to it, otherwise it's then really not that important.

There's countless ways to not forget about something we care.

Set priorities and follow/do them in order.

What is the relatively easy change that you feel ZOS could make that would help you to never forget to claim the login reward? I know someone who uses an add-on that helps them remember to pay their weekly guild dues. Would something like that help?

Bummer? Which race of elf is that?

In all seriousness I usually just try to log in enough to get the unique rewards I want. This month after I've gotten the last crown crate, then I consider that the last of the "rewards." The other additional login rewards are just bonus items that can be acquired by other means if I really want them. I try not to stress myself out by watching the countdown and logging in every chance I can get an item. It begins to make the game feel more stressful for just little bonus items. Or in your case, as you say you feel penalized.
Now that you've voiced what you think should be done to improve the game, do you think a mindset shift on your end could be beneficial to you? How important are login rewards to you?

Sorry, this really is a you problem.

The notification is there and doesn't do away until addressed. You forgot, that's on you.

I routinely forget to go to Tideholm and get my dragon chest, to go to the thieves guild and get the silent guys rewards. That's on me. Oh and leveling the horse, should I ask for a crown store boost to my mount because I forgot to go to the stable? Nope! Again that's on my, and yes it's a bummer to miss out. I sure make a list of things to do but that I haven't is no one's fault but mine.

I see no reason why ZOS should change anything — it pops up right when you log in, so you don’t even have to think to look or check for it. I don’t think there’s any reason not to claim the reward when first you log in. For AP, a slight reason, but it’s rarely enough to make a difference in your character’s level. Or check the rewards and log in with that character first if it matters.

It can matter for new characters because the amount of AP needed to get Assault to level 3 for 30% mount speed bonus can't be reached just by doing the Cyrodiil starter quests, unless there's an AP boost.

You can 100% get it without an AP boost. I've tested this with both an ESO+ and a non-ESO+ account multiple times. Heck, it's part of my alt-leveling scheme once they hit 10 they all get Major Gallop ASAP. You just have to do the starter quests fully, none of the skipping, you have to talk, you have to be briefed, you have to hit 3 targets, you have to repair, you have to talk to the folks at the temple and then talk to the folks at the boards.

      It is enough.
As far as I know each of the three tutorial quests gives 3k AP. Alliance rank 3 unlocks at 8k total.

Just to be clear. There are three quests.

I dont think it is a big deal. The way daily rewards work, you never miss the good stuff. Just the filler stuff at the end of the month.

There already is a notification which won't go away until you've claimed it. That's in addition to the huge splash screen when you first log in where claiming the reward is one of two ways to get it off the screen.

The OP has made the same topic a few times and I can't remember why the existing reminders don't work for them, but it's something to do with wanting to collect login rewards on specific characters, but only when logging into them to actually play them so it could be a long time between first logging in and getting to a point where they're ready to collect it.

Personally I think if forgetting to do something was annoying me enough to make multiple forum topics over several months about how upsetting it is I'd make sure to do it first, so it doesn't bother me.

But then I already log into my crafter first to collect any mail (as well as the login reward) and look at endeavours, guild messages etc. to decide what I want to do today, then swap to whichever character I actually want to play, so swapping characters to do something quick when I first log in doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
