Which Class do you think the 8th Companion will be?

The 8th Companion turns out to be a Dragonknight who also has Soul Magic skills!
Here are the results of the poll before the reveal livestream:
p4865ga2uyuy.png

Presuming one of the two Companions introduced in 2024 will be a Necromancer, as it's the last of the 7 Player Classes to be given to a Companion, which Class would you want the other Companion introduced in 2024 to be? Keep in mind that ZOS may have determined the Class of the 8th Companion by now — this poll is purely for speculation and fun.

Hope they'll slot in Necro and slow down with this bloat, the system is going nowhere even for ones who like it, it seems. It doesn't need to be expanded by size, but should be looked at as a feature overall and how it fits the broader game.

My bets are on a female Dragonknight if we get a playable class, and a male werewolf Bosmer. Could see an argument for a "scribing" character though.

I think we're going to get another Nightblade, since it's a popular Class with players and it's been a while since we've met Mirri. Maybe this would be a nice opportunity to make a Nightblade Companion who is okay with assassination and the Dark Brotherhood, since Mirri hates both of those things. Maybe the Nightblade Class would be the first choice to also introduce a Companion's Vampire skill line, if that's the reason 2024's Companions are delayed until Q4?

I'd put money on vampire or werewolf. Vampire specifically, for lore related reasons within the history of the area the expansion takes place in, and the fact that we are seeing Fennorian make an appearance again. It would be pretty interesting if we end up with a new member of House Ravenwatch as a companion.

I actually think it'd be easier to introduce a Vampire Companion than it would be to introduce a Werewolf Companion, but I believe we'll eventually get at least one of each within the next few years.

Presuming that Vampire/Werewolf for Companions are implemented as skill lines on top of their existing Class, then it'd be easier to add a few (likely 3) skills from the Player's Vampire skill line, and modify their functionality for Companion combat. To implement a Werewolf Companion in this way would entail not only picking 3 skills from the Player's Werewolf skill line, but also adding the transformation Ultimate to get Companions into Werewolf form in the first place.

In that way, ZOS avoids the situation where a transformed Werewolf Companion would need to somehow have animations for using non-Werewolf skills. I'd also like to point out that since each Companion Class has three skill lines, for damage dealing, healing, and tanking respectively, that it would save ZOS time if they kept Companion curses reserved to single skill lines. And further, it makes the most sense if Companions couldn't be cursed (or cured) by the player, because Companion skills are accountwide, so it wouldn't make sense to save — for example — Vampire abilities on a Companion who for an alternate character is a Werewolf.

As an aside, I think it'd be really cool if cursed Companions could offer the player a Vampire/Werewolf bite, only if the player has reached maximum positive rapport with them. It takes a lot of effort to get to that point, and rapport is character-specific, so this functionality would provide a niche alternative to the other ways of getting your character cursed.

I can see that as one of the Maligraphies in the Infinite Archive being a recruitable Companion, given that Master Malkhest notes that some Maligraphies are friendly. Since 2024's Companions are being released in Q4, they're likely to not require this year's Chapter to unlock, and so the two new Companions could be anywhere. If we get a create-your-own-companion, then putting that Companion in the Infinite Archive as base game content would both be thematically appropriate, and allow players running the Infinite Archive solo to meet a Companion who can assist them.

There's a surprising number of people asking for two Necromancer Companions, more so than another of any of the other 6 player classes. I wonder if there's a particular reason most people would want to see Necromancer repeated on the update it's introduced, rather than see any of the other player classes from previous years repeated?

Honestly, if combined with the create-your-own-companion idea (which ZOS seemed hesitant about in the Companions Q&A) it could make for an extremely flexible Companion that anyone would want to use. Like, people would probably end up making such a Companion into a replica of one of their alt characters, if they could customize the appearance and skills just right.

That would be so good. Probably the best 10th anniversary addition I could ask for.

I'm guessing it'll either be a humanoid with abilities that have always been restricted to NPCs, like the one where they leap high into the air and come crashing down after a few seconds, or some kind of creature companion. Maybe even one of the annoying ones like a nix-ox that jumps on your enemies and gives them the suck. If it's big enough it could double as a mount.

I think there are only 4 possibilities:
    - Vampire - As much as I would like to see Werewolf Companion that could somehow synergies with player Werewolf skill line & make it useful, the truth is that Vampire is more popular & ZOS always goes with stuff that is more popular. That is why whenever they decide what type of beast race content to add, 90% of the time Khajiits get nice things & Argonians get short end of the stick - cuz cats are more popular than lizards / dragons.
    - It will be a class focused on new spell crafting system and will be using a mixture of additional guild / world skills to fill in empty gaps (basically they will re-use every asset they can to make something out of nothing).
    - It may be a class we already have, but the NPC will be different gender (Bastian Hallix is male Dragonknight so we will get a female Dragonknigh companion etc).
    - It is unlikely, but maybe they will add a showcase of new class in form of a companion.

A lazy way for custom companion class could be just mixing skill lines of a few existing companions. Adding WW or Vamp as one of the line is possible.
Well, I hope ZOS will make something totally new. That would be way more interesting.

Necromancer (presuming 2 Necromancer Companions in 2024)
I completely misread the OP; I didn't mean to vote for necromancer.

My best guess on what they'd do is not a new class or something but rather repeat old classes, but different skills and stuff. The vampire NB is a perfect example: mix in vampire skills with new (ones that Mirri didn't adopt) NB ones. Just an overall different NB vibe than what Mirri has.

That's also what I want them to do--cycle through the classes. It'd allow them to make characters with personalities/archetypes that we didn't get with the first batch. Sharp is cool, but I'd like a more classic druid person for a warden; a no-nonsense battlemage for a sorcerer; a less whimsical arcanist; etc.
