If you don't want to PvP in Cyrodiil and don't want to be attacked at places like Bruma trying to get or turn in a quest, don't forget you can skip all of those towns and go to the Fighter's Guild rep at your alliance gate that doesn't have the mission boards. At the tavern. You can get a simple quest to kill so many of a named NPC bandit type. Turn it in back in the safety of your alliance's gate.

edit: Jaimeh makes a good point below. To get that daily bounty quest you need to spend a skill point on the passive of the Fighters Guild skill line called "Bounty Hunter". I've had it so long I forgot was something you had to spec for :tongue:

    ZOS recently added quest indicators on the map to show places where you can usually find groups of the bounty targets-- Goblins, Black Daggers, Gray Vipers, and Shadowed Path. That's a nice imorovement over having to remember those places yourself.

    I tried it on PS5 and they didn't show on the map so I had to look it up anyway. Once I was out of base the compass did point in the right direction.

    It seems to be similar to other quests in which the potential areas where quest objectives can be found are shown as circles on the map, but the circles don't show up unless you're actually in the pertinent portion of the zone.

    That is, if you're in an area where you would need to go through a doorway or gate to be where the quest objectives are-- such as entering or leaving a building or city-- the quest marker will be on the appropriate doorway rather than the circles being shown on the map.

    Another potential problem is that the circles might vary in size as appropriate to how large or small each possible site is, and the smaller circles might be very difficult to spot on the map. Fortunately, the compass will show quest pointers for each of the possible sites, although that gives you directions you can head in but doesn't indicate distance.

    Still, it's better than what we had before, which was nothing at all. :)

    I did find the circles on the map. They're pretty small and hard to see. They aren't the only spots either. Had to kill Black Daggers and I ran into some outside a delve. Delve was full of them. Easy completion.

    Just any FYI, the new circles don't show all of the places they can be. For those not familiar enough with Cyrodill to find them all, and who are hoping for a better location relative to which faction controls what on the map, it's also handy to check pages like this on UESP:

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Gray_Vipers || https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Bounty:_Gray_Vipers
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Bounty:_Shadowed_Path || https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Bounty:_Shadowed_Path
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Black_Daggers || https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Bounty:_Black_Daggers
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Bloody_Hand_Tribe & https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Rock_Bone_Tribe || https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Bounty:_Goblins

    I put the general entries for each bounty group because something the version about the bounty quest itself for each group is missing locations that the general entries have.

    For example, yesterday two people were hanging out at the Burned Estate as they had killed all of the Shadowed Path left there (I was working on the other side of it) and the mobs were taking forever to respawn. I just rode a short distance away to Nagastani and got the last one I needed.

    Good hunting!

    (P.S. I always kind of hoped that maybe another guild that players can join could have optional quests in Cyro. Not all of them, but something with a fitting them. But that apparently wasn't meant to be.)

    Yes, I had noticed that some places did not seem to have circles on the map, but it looked like they were showing as pointers on the compass bar, so I figured the circles must have been there but were too hard for me to spot for whatever reason.

    I didn't notice that Nagastani wasn't circled. That place is one of my usual go-to spots for the Shadowed Path bounty. Some locations are not great for the bounty because they have only five or so enemies of the requested type, so once you kill those you must hang around and wait for them to respawn, or better yet-- if you want to use that spot for the bounty for a particular reason, such as its proximity to some other location you have a quest for-- then go off and do something else for a bit, then swing back later to get the enemies after they've respawned.

    Some locations will have a few enemies outside-- maybe enough to get the bounty done, maybe not-- and then have a lot more of them inside a cave or delve. In those cases it can be better to do your killing inside the cave or delve-- more enemies to kill without having to wait for respawning, plus you won't be visible out in the open. But if it's a delve then you run a greater risk of encountering an enemy player who's doing a quest (if it's a delve with a quest), or grabbing a skyshard, or just working on completing the map or any achievements.

    How are these bounties working out for those new to them?

    I’ve started grabbing them and they make a good quest to hang onto until the next day, so I can turn in the actual PvP quests and grab more and not worry about my tickets if I might be strapped for time the next day. The Fighters Guild person is in the opposite gate from the normal PvP quests, so I don’t have that little ‘turn quest in here’ arrow taunting me to turn it in early by mistake, and unlike the town dailies the area is always under my faction’s control so no long ride to get to it.
