Should ZOS do another event like the Crafter’s Celebration?

I'm trying to figure out why people seem to hate events. I mean, you don't have to participate. So just continue to play the game as you normally do and ignore it. But for those of us who need money (and the increased harvest yield helps), or are leveling alts who are working on their crafting skill lines, this event helps. I don't think every event has to appeal to every player... so just play the ones you want, and ignore the ones you don't. But saying we have too many events, I just don't get it.

I don't hate them. Some of them I really love. But I do wind up with event fatigue - where I have things I want to do on my accounts, but due to an event, I push those aside.

At this point, I'm just working on the last indrik I want on various accounts. Once done by the end of this quarter, I will be a lot more picky about what events I get involved in.

Yes, as long as it does not replace any other event in the year.

Yes, they should do another event like this, but it should actually work. I was going to do writs on several characters to take advantage of the event, but after a day and a half, I quickly discovered that it wasn't working for me. These were the issues I experienced:

    1. According to the event flyer that comes up when I log into the game, I was supposed to be able to reconstruct gear for half transmute costs. However, I reconstructed 3 sets I've been wanting to try - but all at normal transmute cost. There was no 50% reduction in transmute cost.

    2. We were supposed to get double writ vouchers for master writs done during the event. I did master writ vouchers I had stored up AND master writs that I earned during the event - both yielded just the normal number of writ vouchers that were stated on the master writ.

    3. It's hard to quantify this one because its also based on RNG, but I didn't see a noticeable uptick in upgrade materials gained from deconning gear or from refining raw materials. Both were supposed to have increased chances during the event. However, given the issues above, I just assumed this was not working for me.

The event was actually fantastic - in theory. It would have been nice if it actually worked.

And here you have hit upon the biggest issue with the event: poor communication.
    1) It took Zos several hours and feedback thread to realize what most players understood upon reading the announcement-- that you could farm transmute crystals-- and rather that fixing the issue so you could no longer aquire infinite crystals, they disabled the reduced cost completely BUT! Did not update the banner to reflect that.

    2) the double writ vouchers were ONLY applied to writs AQUIRED during the event, and the value was inherent to the writ. Ie if you got a purple provisioning writ worth 4 vouchers during the event (incidentally, the only writ I aquired) it would have been worth 2 vouchers normally.

    3) Like you said, rng. I didn't notice anything particularly out of the ordinary either.

As to the event itself, I'm nuetral. It really wasn't earth shattering. I did daily writs on a couple of characters and got a whopping 2 bonus vouchers. I did some collecting and deconning and refining and got nothing to writ home about. I missed the reduced cost of reconstructing completely, and I had 0 gear that needed to be transmuted, so it was overall a really bleh event. Some people liked it, so do it again I guess, but the contrast between what we expected based off the official announcemen verses what we actually got in game was extremely disappointing.

And for heaven's sake, let surveys drop bonus mats.

I don't personally understand how this event cheapens say the anniversary event. They don't have any of the same prizes or gameplay. Is it just the back to back nature for you? Or is there something else I'm missing.

It's not just this event... which isn't even a real event, but more like "Here's some extra resources and crafting experience". Then they didn't even touch research, which takes way longer than just leveling a craft to 50.

But the biggest problem for me is that there is barely any time between events any more and that makes them feel much less special.

What if we had Christmas once a month? How special would that feel?

Doesn’t the event description somewhere say 10% increased inspiration? That would be what you are asking for, wouldn’t it?

I don't think inspiration affects research timers.

Ah that might just be leveling up the crafting skill then. Any increase in research times during the event would be insignificant in the long run anyway.

When research is taking 21 days for each piece now, even with all the passive skills, I'll take any help I can get.

I have three toons now doing research and I give all of the free daily reward login research scrolls to one of them, but I never get around to getting enough skill points to unlock more than one trait research. I feel like I’d waste them for only one research trait at a time but I guess eventually I will break down and start using them.

The last three events have been like Lucy pulling the football with actual quest benefits being revoked because of no fault of the players. So the answer to the question is no, if players are just going to be continually deprived and frustrated, and yes if everything works as it's supposed to.

So, looking at the Magic 8 ball and applying Murphy's law, the real answer is

I got some 8 crafters and total and was leveling the eighth one up during event. Just finished them Thursday. Nice to have an event I don't get fatigued on that just boosts what I'm already doing

I have 7 characters that are max in all 7 crafts but I only research on one. It's such a long tedious process I can't imagine doing it more than once.

On the other hand, the promises of this event were not respected: The winnings which had to be doubled in assignat, ect.
To do an event on the craftsman, he could let go a little more!
