New sets every DLC

Considering how many sets we have, and them being divided into Overland, Trial, Dungeon, Monster helmet, PvP:

Would you mind if ZOS in any new chapter did NOT add any new sets?

(are we unable to make polls?)

I find something I like set wise from every expansion. Not everything needs to be peak meta.

To make a poll, you need to click on the small arrow on the right side of the "New Discussion" button. Pre-existing forum threads can't have polls.

Maybe new dungeons could drop materials that could be used to enhance existing sets. You could have one material that could add a line of spell damage to an old set and another that increases the duration of a proc. This would be a way of breathing new life into old sets.

    Need more sets every patch.

Just update old ones to be at least viable/usable, a lot of old sets are not bad as concept, just numbers aren't there.

i would not mind as there are plenty of other nice things in new updates, but i do like new sets so i prefer to get new sets instead of none.

While this idea might seem interesting, I immediately think of how difficult it is to get Eyes of Mora style mats from Scrivener’s Hall to make housing furnishings. You know the grind would be unreal.

I wish we'd get new sets that the broad mess can agree on being good or at least free from bugs so that one may at least enjoy them for roleplay or solo play reasons rather than finding myself transmuting the same years old trial and dungeon sets on every single class year after year.

I don't care about most of the sets at all, so I would exactly run dungeons far more often if the drops were something like furniture items or recipes instead. Or more mounts, pets, costumes, etc.

I do agree that there is Set bloat in the game. It's not that bad of a thing, but I'd welcome something new.

I think at this point it's expected, but I would be OK with no new Sets assuming there were other things being added to make up for it. I think a lot of development time is devoted to designing, testing, and balancing new sets, so it could free up a lot of time for other development! I'm getting tired of these pushes release sets too that are just inevitably nerfed into obscurity and thrown on the pile.

tldr; It's good that the game has tons of sets, but I think they can slow down creating more if they can do something else in its place.

I'm on the fence. On one hand, what else would there be to earn? On the other, aside from the Scrivener's Hall sets, I don't think any of the new sets are really viable endgame. I'm still using my meta sets and RP sets don't really interest me. It takes too much effort to get transmutes and materials to just experiment with an RP set.

I could live without it if there was something else to earn. I can only grind out dailies for motifs so much. The drops rates are too low for me, so I usually buy them or wait for an event anyways. The rewards need to be like the apex rewards, multiple houses, or something. Just something permanent and attractive.

my biggest wish with set gear is to fix curation issues with sets lol

and by fix curation issues, im talking about sets that are from zones missing a normally curated drop because its missing one or more sources of curation

examples: jewelry in wrothgar, jewelry in clockwork city, jewelry in jews bane, jewelry in gold coast (all of these zones lack a dolmen-equivalent activity)

while they did add more cyrodiil sets to drop from the overland, the only things that are curated there is jewelry and 2 pc of armor

they added gear drops to trove scamps in IC, but they are not curated at all even though they arent super common

this is frustrations i have with sets, trying to finish them in zones or activities that lack sources of curation

    Sooo many sets!

What I would like to see is an ability to sort the sets based on the functions of the first 4 options. So I want a (for example) +max magic, +spell/weapon damage, +health, +stamina, in no particular order. All sets that have those 4 traits and then pick which one based on the 5 set bonus that looks the best to me. That would be helpful.

THAT IS A BRILLIANT IDEA! Heck, that is even BETTER than reducing the number of sets, OR attempting to limit their influx.

How much time do some of us spend browsing them - mindboggling. Sure, there are MANY, but @MidniteOwl1913's idea is just PERFECT! B)

I just don't like how there's so many. They're gonna run out of ideas, I remember when they started throwing out all these "gain a stack of whatever" set mechanics and they began proliferating that. I never got into those, I just prefer flat stat bonuses, easier to understand and know what you're getting.

I don't know if ZOS could or would do it in-game but someone could probably add it to a website like UESP. I've seen quite a few Wiki's do similar things with tables that have filters at the top. Here's one example which is probably quite similar: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rune#Overview_of_superior_runes

I know there's hundreds of sets in ESO so it would be a lot to fit on one page, but the table could just list the key info and then link to pages about each set for the details.

There's so much set bloat in the game right now.

If they stop adding sets, they'd have to add a different reward to dungeon drops to compensate. Not sure what that would be, but it could be interesting
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.

Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
    ---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

We already have WAY too many sets. No doubt about it.

But ZOS uses new sets to sell new content. This is why the "PvP players don't contribute financially to game" argument falls flat on it's face every time.

If we could just get ZOS to focus more on player retention rather than the crown store we'd all be better off.

To be honest, most of the older sets in the game really need to be re-evaluated and brought up to current standards.

Sets like Hundings Rage and Julianos can't even compare to something like Orders Wrath in terms of damage, yet both are permanant active effects. There are SO MANY additional examples like this in the set pool, that it ends up being way too much to write out.

Proc sets as a whole need re-evaluation too. Something like Morkuldin should have the sword damage increased, because it's not guaranteed to hit, and the cleave honestly isn't that good, yet it's treated like a sticky DoT on the balance sheet.

it would be nice to have this as a base game thing

for PC there is an addon called "itemization browser" which lists all available sets in a sort of searchable catalogue

you can add filters (such as only showing ones from group dungeons, or arenas, or your current overland zone, etc), or you can keyword search based on either the name of the set, or by a particular set bonus

when you hover over a set name, it also provides a popup tooltip of what the set stats look like for a gold cp160 version of the item

this addon also shows the location of where you obtain the set, along with how many items you have collected from the set

i know being an addon its not useful to console players, but i think this is exactly the type of thing that you were looking for lol

    Agreed.

Be nice if they tuned and tweaked some of the older sets and simply let these new reworked sets drop in new/multiple dungeons.

Like how some trials sets drop in two trials.
