This company has a whole management structure. It's not just tech guys working on computers and people in another room posting updates.

There are people who are spending most of this time sweating it out because they're in management and cant do anything to help, and they could easily be on this forum giving out some information.

The reason they don't is that they're afraid of doing something wrong and making things worse, so everyone locks up and does nothing.

Regardless if you like the game or not. Maybe you guys should check out how the dev team over on EQ Landmark communicate with the community..they probably do it better then any game I have ever tested/played..we just like to feel as though we are part of it all

Also why is everything in another language even though I have checked the EN option at top of screen? Any of you get that? I do not even know what to click to post this message ha ha

I've got the same thing no matter what I do.

If that is the worst thing you have to worry about today you're more fortunate than you realize. It's a game. Relax.

Yes, that is the reason, apparently.
Some of us are of the opinion that Zenimax should have had the courtesy of informing about that here in the forums, and not letting People read it on Reddit instead. On Reddit it _will_ get spread elsewhere, and fear it'll do a lot more damage than it had to.

Yes, agreed. That is quite worrying, I haven't been able to play today as this maintenance has completely killed morning through to evening play for Australians, I hope I do not log in tomorrow to find I have been cleared of everything by someone logging into my character.
It is troubling they feel it best to keep us in the dark, although describing the problem may cause panic I believe being transparent and showing us they have a game plan to deal with it would be the best course of action.

    Yeah. This is utterly amateurish.

If you don't tell your players, who are paying for the game, when the server will be back up, you at least tell us what the *** is wrong.

I don't care if Milosh tripped over the power cord of the server cluster and you have to emergency order a new one from China and in the meantime are trying to splice together a new cord from the offcuts of bad cellphone chargers. If you tell us that you're doing this then you show that you actually give a cherry-topped turd about the thousands of people who are sitting in the dark, waiting for the game they paid to play to come online.

It's been seven hours. We're owed an explanation at this point.

    What's wrong.

Why it's taking so *** long to fix.

I will continue to be utterly pissed off with your entire company and be completely unsatisfied with the laughable 'customer service' until these two questions are answered.

I guess you don't know that there are problems with the server and that they are fixing the problem. And if they were to give an ETA on when it would be up and the time past people would be raging the the time is past people would be even more mad. So the best thing they can do is not tell use an eta until they are absolutely sure when it will be back up

There are almost NEVER ETAs for Unplanned maintenance from any gaming company, it's a fact of the industry. They can't tell us when it'll be back up, because THEY DON'T KNOW. And giving estimates is a bad idea for companies, because then when it's NOT ready at their estimated time, people on the forums and Social Media whinge about it.

As far as why they have the server down, I'm sure when they're done and it's back up they'll take the time to explain what they were doing. That's also standard faire for MMOs and Gaming in general.

Stop acting like this is the first game you've ever played people, or this is the first launch you've been to. IF it is either of those, then HI. Welcome to how it works.

would it really have been that hard to post that at the beginning of when they took the server down? instead lets get everyone all pissed off first then post it 8 hours later.

problem is, I fear that a lot of damage has already been done to both ESO's and Zenimax' reputation, which could've easilly been avoided if they'd made such a post earlier.

My gf loved your post lol

Oh add in rant and rage about servers being down...no eta...no word on whats going on. Sorry, I pay for a service I expect it to work.
Someone said there is never an eta on "sudden down time" I play Rift as well...and played WoW for years.... you may not always know when its going down, but they post " we have encountered problems with blah, and expect to be back or an update in 2hrs" or some time frame. So I dont know what suck games you play, but I like ones where they talk to me and let me know why I shouldnt feel like Ive wasted my money. This isnt my first game or launch or beta.

Oh more rant and rage :)

This is how I feel, server goes down "Oh its Oceanic prime time, ah who gives a sh**" 8 hours later "Man America is waking up, quick, fix the server, inform the masses!"

    Ive got to ask:
do other People really read all those different Agreements u have to accept before u start the game???
Seriously? So you sign up for a subscription without reading what is and is not included? How do you know whether you are getting what you paid for? I read them because they tell me what I am agreeing to. Simple. I once read a PunkBuster agreement that said they could read any file in my RAM or hard drive. I thought that was too invasive so I never installed it.

If this is due to the account swap/bank issue shown in the reddit article (also has been mentioned on here a few times) I suspect they don't want to announce it so people don't start trying to exploit it. I do agree with the sentiment that I'd rather not be able to play for the next 2 days and have them fix this than have to worry someone is going to get swapped into my char and all my bank items disappear much further into the game.

People complain about the maintenance and problems, but they would have complained a whole lot more if they pushed the launch date back another month.

Everyone wants bigger games, more elaborate things, better graphics, which all requires more complex codes. This is why game credits now take like fifteen min instead of two or three. More hands also mean more chance for error. More code leads to more hidden unexpected problems. So essentially the bigger the game is the more likely to be more bugs. Can you imagine having to search through thousands of pages(probably more) of code to find a "." that should have been a ","

Though I do also agree they could post an update like "we discovered a very dangerous bug and are working as quickly as possible to get it resolve, though it may take quite a while" or something. Nevermind XD

I think everyone needs to settle a bit and take a chill pill. I've never been in any MMO launch that didn't have a few multiple bugs jump up after launch day. Some bugs are teeny tiny ones like a disabled mail features, others cause massive server issues and will continue to plague your launching/play enjoyment of the game. I've seen it happen via EQ, Rift, Swtor, Wow, Gw2. It will happen especially when Beta's never have all the available content. Now, take a fuller pop added to full content and bugs show up, always happens. There is no way in hell you'll ever have a launch that doesn't have the bugs. Yes, we all paid various pricing from 60 to 80 to 120/130 (forgot the price of the special addition). You have a right to be informed, which they have done with basic info, but don't jump down a devs throat because you're pissed off feeling entitled to more. The early access feature is always a time to locate and eliminate bugs before the overall massive launch of the game.

I was, unfortunately, up early this morning and wanted to play before work. However, seeing as how there was this maint. issue. I opted to do something else until work, and will play later.

If you want a working product, be thankful for maintenance. Maintenance exists so you can have a working product.

Anyway, I'm sure we will hear more when there is actually some progress to report. They have more important things to do than coming here and telling you about what they are trying to fix.

Pretty sure the people who post the updates arent the ones actually doing the maintenence.
Pretty sure the people who post information here on the forums aren't going to know anymore than we do unless the ones doing the maintenance actually tell them what is happening and detail their steps in attempting to fix the issues. As I said already, the ones fixing it have better things to do than spending their time filling in people on information.

That about sums it up. We all want to play and they know that. They want us to be happy and they want us have a bug free build. That is fact, reason being it will get them paid. Take a step back, understand that this game is now -2 days old as official release is 4/4/14. We are LUCKY enough to be in as early as 5 days before launch because we made an investment into their product before it was completed. That means, we showed faith in them and their product. Things like this is how they cash in that faith. Let them work on the product and get it running as they know it should be running. It ONLY BENEFITS us as end users. :)

They dont know. A MASSIVE bug came up. chill out these things happen you will all live. http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/21yvux/shortly_after_system_message_about_disabled/

Why do People have to go on Reddit to find out this? Surely this should've been posted here first?

Wait, seriously? This company maintains better forums on reddit than it does on their own forums? And seriously reddit??? Why not just have yuku supply your forums?

But agreed this is a MASSIVE massive bug that I'd want fixed before I log back into my account. But I also agree that there should have been some notice given to players through the forums here about this issue. Since we have paid for this service it is in this companies best interest to keep us updated as to what is going on, and it shouldn't matter if they were up all night working on this issue. We should be informed, that way if something were still not fixed correctly when people begin to log back into their accounts they can work WITH whatever support is in place to get the issues resolved in a timely manner.

Guys good customer support goes a long way in generating customer loyalty. People have an expectation when they purchase a product, that said product will work correctly. As I'm sure most of us have been through the release of other mmos in the past and realize there will be growing pains. But honestly no real updates on what the issue is and how it's being worked on doesn't serve in this companies best interest. I'm actually surprised your PR people haven't told you all this already.
People talk about 'fear of the unknown' but there is an even worse category: fear of things you think you know.
