but how do you even can check now if it work or not, it's passive now and you can't compare your xp with "normal" values. Now you need to have those kill/writ/etc values from non-event period. but right now just trust lol or wait for next event.

You can look at the screen for a random normal. It now shows 200k instead of 100k xp

I thought you could always use the cauldron outside of the event to become a skeleton, you just didn't get the XP boost unless the Witches Festival was in swing?

I had no problem using the whistle for the XP buff.
I have no problem with it being passive now.

What I would have liked though is some indicator in the game that such a buff is active.
Like when you press "C" you could see an Icon for the buff with a timer.
That nothing is there confuses me a bit.

Probably just a small oversight when they reprogrammed it to be passive. Other passive boosts are shown, such as the XP boost from ESO Plus, so my guess is that it wasn't a deliberate decision to not show the Witches Festival XP boost.

On the other hand, I'm not sure whether any of the other recent events with double XP showed anything, either, because I don't remember specifically checking to see if it was listed.

But you can compare your xp with normal values for things like writs. UESP maintains a list of the base xp for each quest, like writs, here:

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Leveling

For example, at level 50 (regardless of CP), a daily writ has a base xp of 748.5, which represents the "Very Easy" multiplier (0.1) applied to the standard quest reward of 7485. If you are getting another 748.5 xp (I forget at the moment which way it rounds) on top of your regular xp reward from writs, then you are getting the Witches buff. Many players will have more than the base amount already because they are benefiting from ESO+ (10%), Ring of Mara (10%), and/or an xp scroll or potion (50%, 100%, or 150%). The event buff adds another 100% to those values, which are additive.

Enlightenment is a x4 multiplier on top of everything else.

I don't remember any complaints during the Explorer's Event, which has no memento/timed buff. You just got the XP boost and everyone seemed happy. If anything, people were grateful to not have to worry about remembering to rebuff all the time. Why have people trusted all the multiple Explorer's Events over the years but no one seems to trust this event?

Some people have asked for clarification on the Explorer's Event to make sure they're getting the buff, so it's not the case that everyone has trusted it in the past.

I get the sense that more people likely trusted the Explorer's Event because that was always passive. When there is a major change to implementation, as with the Witches event, the change itself can prompt distrust and confusion, especially when it is unexpected. (Not everyone will read the news, so some will think it should still work as it always has.)

    Agreed.

Surely the forums mods don’t want to have to keep up with the multitude of threads that are being created about this very thing.

I'm going to have to agree with many on this thread. I just spent the better part of an hour logging in and out, dropping quests, blowing the darned whistle etc looking for the xp boost indicator. Such a waste of time and frankly a turn off when trying to relax and dive into the game.

Devs - please correct this and consider things like this in the future. For sake of your paying clients. Its a small thing..

They're transitioning all exp buffs from consuming objects to just being passively active during the event. My guess it reduces server load and stops players from extending the Exp Buffs long after the event is over.

Awww. Kind of spoils some of the fun. I found the small extra xp I got from my writ toons which I received from good planning after an event immensely satisfying.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's event related.

    Thank you for your understanding

So whats the verdict here is this going to be fixed WAAAAAYYY b4 the end of this event, on that i speak for everyone else thats just not recieving the XP boost, ive used my whistle and the XP boost isnt passive at all, i hvae to drink from the cauldron to recieve, further more i swear that the skeleton morph wears off b4 the end of the XP boost (2 hrs)??

I seriously hope that the major fix coming, will resolve all these issues as stated earlier this year at the necrom reveal.

stops players from extending the Exp Buffs long after the event is over.

Was this such a terrible thing you could get 2 extra hours of the buff per character after an event is over? Helped keep some of the constant champ grind at bay, and a little extra time to level companions without event activities happening.

I can see the boost while killing stuff - easily more exp than normal but it would go a long way AND less threads about it AND less in chat chaos about it if they just put the passive listed in Character stats like everything else.
Not sure how much extra work that would be but since it happens in other events, i would assume its not that big of a move to do.

Yes. If there is an event effect, like an XP boost, it needs to show up as a buff while it is in effect. Even if it is passive.

I agree with all above, hoping they get around to this soon before the event is over.
