All this talk of cats reminded me that I saw a congregation of cats in the game the other day. One appeared to be holding court and all the other strays in the area (with some delightful names I can't remember now) were wandering up to listen. Now it is going to bug me as to where I saw them. And unfortunately while the maintenance is going on I can't go retrace my steps to figure it out.
There is such a congregation in Suran, Vvardenfell. It's part of a cat quest that results in a very cat-appropriate furnishing. I highly recommend any cat fanciers do that quest as soon as possible!
That sounds like it might be the right place. I was probably pickpocketing in that zone at the time. Thanks.

I *have* come close with him. Thankfully, he hits the back half of the seat which leaves me room to sit on the edge if I'm already fully committed to the sit.
I'm in my 50s and have had cats around me my entire life, so I've become wise to their ways, and I've gotten used to the fact that he gets triggered whenever he hears the floor squeak outside my bedroom door. Plus, he's a big boy and not silent as he makes his charge, so I hear him coming. I keep hoping "maybe not this time...," but he always comes running if he's not already in my room.
My heavier cat, the "little heffalump" as I call her, is the one I am most likely to sit on as despite being very heavy she is lightning fast in getting into my seat. She has a habit of doing it when I have my hands full with a tray of food ... mine, not hers. The other one is more likely to be clambering over me and getting in the way. They each have their quirks and habits.
Unfortunately one of their more annoying habits is they like waking me at 3am or other silly times so they are shut out of my room over night. Much to their disgust and blatant trickery and sneakiness in trying to get in there and find a place to hide.
Can you please next time select a different window for maintenance, not during peak online.ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »Hey everyone, just wanted to give you all a heads up that we will begin opening servers in just a few minutes. Thanks for your patience - we know maintenance today has been longer than usual!
Is there a reason for it being longer than usual?
The work being done today was all backend work that needed to be completed on all Live megaservers (such as firmware updates, among many other things).

PS 12 hours for a firmware update? I can completely reinstall dozens of servers from scratch during this period.

Sadly, due to computer trouble, I have had to reinstall ESO, and unfortunately it didn't download fast enough and hit maintenance, so I am waiting until maintenance is over so I can hopefully get it installed and see if it will work and hopefully get my daily freebie.

I just hoped for some more pro-active communication.
This one remember it, felt like an pug raid group.Grizzbeorn wrote: »All this talk of cats reminded me that I saw a congregation of cats in the game the other day. What you describe doesn't actually sound like that quest to me. (quest name, "Nothing to Sneeze At," given by Tilenra Sildreth.)
There is a congregation of cats near the end of that quest, outside the door of an Altmer's shop in Suran, but it is part of the quest, and I'm not sure if you can see them if you aren't the one doing the quest.

Not the congregation I had seen before but thanks for the heads up on the quest. My kitties in my town house will love their new toy.

@LouisaB75
You can also repeat that quest per-character. I've scored 9 kitty toys so far...

Yes and there's a non-named, different colored version of that toy that drops from pickpocketing thieves and outlaws across Tamriel.

Why are we only learning this after the fact though? Nearly an hour after maintenance was supposed to end. How many promises of better communication will it take before better communication actually happens? You don't even remember the Maintenance Announcements forum exists.
The maintenance is always boring backend stuff unless they announce it isn't. I don't see why they need to announce it every time. Besides, it's not exactly good operational security to announce that your firmware is out of date and requires patching.
