What do you do, when you have nothing to do?

I'm not a social player, so I don't typically go out my way to group up or do PvP or anything like that.

I love the world, and I love just existing in the game worlds I love.

So my question is, what do you guys do when you have nothing left to do? (aside from PvP or group activities)

I kind of wish we had things we could just go to and do and interact with in towns and cities.
Having jobs or something dotted around the world would be nice, we could just go and interact with things like tend bars, saw mills, grind stones or something?

All I've found myself doing is travelling to worlds I don't need to revisit, and haven't been to for a while, and collecting resources.

For those that said "logout" or "play other games" I went through a veeeeeeery long period recently where I did that.

I logged in for as many days as I needed to get the "good" reward from the daily log ins. So there was about half a month I didn't log in at all each month.

The thing is, I want to play this game. I do love it. I love TES and Tamriel as a world. I want more reasons to stay here.

I have been commiting to the endeavours more, I like that those do give us another task to do.
Sometimes with the daily quests, once I've done the same one a handful of times I don't really want to do it again.

Yes, there's an event on and I always try and make the most of the events. Though, when it's gone it's gone and it's back to normal.

I did try going after some more achievements. I go for the ones with dyes mostly. I don't have an interest in collecting any more titles (I am very attached to the one I use), and with no reward some achievements aren't worth grinding for for me personally. I don't see my "total achievement points" as any kind of goal, it's just a number to me with little significance.

*The point of posting this question was to see what you guys do. For some inspiration on other things I could maybe look to do myself.
You might still have loads of things to do; a whole new playthrough on an alt? But you want to do something else for a while instead.

I do writs and Endeavors, unless there’s an event or something. If those start to bore me I find something else to play TBH.

    daily quests:

some are pvp, but most of them pve
Could be, that the list hasn't all the newer stuff

And there is currently that Dunmer event going on. You really have to be an Ebony Warrior to the core to be bored with ESO...

My elf is fully leveled/equipped and has quested every zone. So she finds herself in the wonderful position that any agenda she has is totally her own. I say wonderful because she simply enjoys living her life in Tamriel. Some of the things she enjoys:

Riding her mare (at a walk) along the beaches of NW Auridon, possibly picking a few flowers and maybe catching a fish or two along the way.

Killing a few non-DLC world bosses. She can solo them and loves doing so.

Doing a few daily quests - there are so many in the game! A couple of her faves are the daily undaunted delves for Bolgrul and the daily Dragonguard/Tidewater quest for Dirge Trupter.

Soloing normal non-DLC pledges. Just for fun as her stickerbook and transmutes are pretty full.

Aside from doing writs and endeavors? Not much. I've been playing other games lately--namely Starfield and BG3, which should keep me busy for a loooooooong time.

All that's really keeping me playing ESO right now are events and my guar reserves--I'm gonna maintain my guar collection for as long as I am able to. Haven't even finished Necrom. I will probably do the Endless Archive though.

Writs and endeavors. Managing inventory -- surveys, selling things I don't need, going through my mules. Going after achievements I don't have on my "main." This includes fishing as I don't have Master Angler yet. Leveling my alts - in particular skyshard hunting. Working through unlocking Tales of Tribute decks and leveling my companions. Unlocking leads for mythics I don't yet have that can (or must) be done solo. Digging up leads I've picked up while doing the "stuff" that exists as my reason to play ESO. Decorating a house (which usually starts from inventory management - I get an idea from a piece of furniture that has ended up in my bags). While some of this activity is distracting or calming or mildly satisfying, none of these activities would be a reason for me to play ESO on their own.

Those kinds of activities stuff keep me busy. Usually, I don't get past inventory management.

"Stuff to do" is when my friends are playing. Then I do trials, dungeons, group achievement hunting, PvP, and questing. Leveling my alts (skyshard hunting) can also be a group activity and occur in this section, but it is less so now that the map is messed up and there's no real point to go out and beat the world bosses again while you are at it.

Mostly farming nodes for crux for master writs and now its split with necrom node farming, its pretty zen for me doing menial tasks like farming, daily writs/surveys/mount training on other accounts. Just waiting for EA really as i have all the gear i want the content cleared and the maps finished.

I'll never have "nothing to do". I can always find quests I haven't done yet on anyone, areas I've never explored fully etc. Even after 7 years in this game, there is still tons to do. And that's on top of daily writs, master writs, endeavors, surveys, antiquities, leveling alts....

I have gazoolas of characters, and they don't all do exactly the same things. When I get out an alt, I pick up with her where I left off, and happily spend hours RPing her in my mind. I expect I'll still be here in 10 years (assuming the game and I live that long).

[edit for typo - hadn't had enough coffee when I posted]

    Play other games.

These days there are so many top quality games out there, and game hosting companies like Steam, Epic and others are constantly throwing out games for free or incredibly cheap. I have a huge backlog of games that I will likely never have the time to complete. Indie games are often great as well and there are so many of them. You can try out Xbox Game Pass for the same price (or less) than an ESO monthly membership and have access to hundreds of games.

Right now is a golden age of gaming imo. It's just too good to waste wandering around in a game that you are bored with, trying to figure out what to do. Why kill time if you can enjoy your time instead?

I farmed worldbosses for rare style materials, Summerset, Elsweyr, Blackwood.
Bought/farmed the corresponding furniture plans, crafted and sold them, all together maybe 100 mio gold or so.

But over the time the nerfs became worse, and people spreading out, so I ended up having to solo them, which became too tedious because of the nerfs, to even impossible.

So for now I just login for endeavours and event-tickets (on all 4 logins), then play Fallout 76.

Coming up for my 10th Anniversary and still I have not finished all the chapter/dlc stories!

Unfortunately they are not my go to when I'm bored, it used to be many, many hours spent in one or other of my houses(tbh that still happens) but since ToT released I now spend way too much time playing that!

I only play NPC's these days, bored yes, up for untold nastiness from other players NO!! I try to always have some dailies picked up on multiple characters, playing sessions can be long! 🤣

If I want to do more than just the daily writs and endeavors, I do the following:

    - work toward completing my lore library by chasing down lore books
    - work toward completing the sticker book
    - try to get an achievement I don't have
    - try to get antiquities leads I need and dig them up
    - see if there's anything I'm missing in Collections that I can work toward (getting fragments I can combine for something, for example)

Right now though, with all the great games out, I log in for about 15-20 mins every day to do writs and endeavors. The rest of my gaming time is spent elsewhere. But if I do want to spend a bit more time in ESO, I usually do one of the above.

    I get ignored XD
Jokes aside, I mean that when I don't feel like doing World Boss or World Event Dailies I usually wander around searching for someone in need for help with fights, asking in zone chat if anyone needs help, and trying to gift something to new players - that's where I generally get ignored XD but I get it, lots of people don't have zone chat window active, newer players especially. But when I finally help someone, maybe with grinding a Lead, it's always a pleasure that's hard to compare... "giving brings you happiness" :)
