I'm not sure how all of your RNG can be this bad. In the maybe 2 hours I have played the game during this event, I am at 26 parchment piece drops. And most of that 2 hours was spent harvesting nodes as I walked to the daily quest locations. I've killed exactly 4 seeker bosses, 3 world bosses, 1 set of nymic bosses, 1 delve boss, and 1 public dungeon boss. The majority of those 26 were from resource nodes and overland treasure chests.

Well, something is obviously borked. But, I'm going to give it another whirl this evening. While I'm not sure of the event itself as it seems lacking. The amount of people running around makes things fun anyway.

Multiple people are reporting similar experiences though. I spent about 10 minutes on nodes and trash mobs this am waiting for a wb to spawn, no parchment.

ZOS has confirmed that harder mobs have a greater chance to drop pages. Just farm bosses in the public dungeon or WBs. Also, Sanity's Edge is pretty much guaranteed to drop pages. You can get 10+ just from there and double loot trial drops.

My drop rate from boss/monster kills is low, low, low. 12 dailies done today, 4 each bastion nymic, world boss, delve. 2 Parchment pages total. I'm doing this event for the achievements from the daily quests (30 each), so the rest of you folks will have to collect parchment pages from resource nodes and overland treasure chests and do all the Turning Pages quests. Or ZOS could fix the drop rate from boss/monster kills.

I did, for 90 mins today, got 0 pages, went did other things for ~6 hours, gave up after getting zero pages and brought them from a guild trader

Completed all 3 daily quests, killed 4 Herald's Seekers, 1 dungeon boss, 1 word boss and received 0 pages!. Same with my friend. Impossible to complete the Turn the Page quest today.

Played four characters for several hours yesterday and did not get a single drop — farmed bosses, monsters, nodes, delves, WBs, public dungeon bosses, treasure chests, crates…nothing. Never had this much trouble doing the server wide pitch-in-and-complete-the-task events.

At least I can get my daily tickets by doing WBs and delves in the Necrom regions.

    Fix the drop rate!

I can't stand farming nodes and chests now because Telvanni Peninsula is overrun with players sucking them all up. It's irritating when you finally find a node or chest that's actually up and someone runs up and spams interact on it to lock you out then takes it.

So today the drop rate seems even worse. Four WB dallies and not a single parchment. Yesterday they all dropped at least one...

At this rate (pun intended) no one will get any of the end-of-event rewards...

The RNG seems pretty spotty for this. I've played around the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha and am at around 30 tickets, not including the 10 I already submitted. Got a bunch this evening farming world bosses.

    Edit: Parchments. Not tickets.

I've gotten a lot of pages just from harvesting resource nodes; they have been dropping more frequently than coffers for me, in that (I think) the coffers have a short cooldown period, whereas the pages don't seem to have any cooldown period. I got so many on the first day that I didn't even have to go looking for more on day 2, and I still have enough for 3 more days.

One thing you could do, if you're having trouble finding them, is ask in zone chat if anyone has some spare pages they would be willing to send you. I'm sure some players would expect you to buy them, but other players would probably send you some for free.

Another event with abysmal drop rates and terrible communication. Zone chat is filled with people asking how the quests work, how to get tickets, how to make sure you qualify for the house.

Is there anyone left at ZOS who looks at these kind of things and asks “ok but is this fun for the players?” ?

Rhetorical question btw, I’m pretty sure I know the answer.

Mobs seem bugged with the droprate, if they can even drop any at all. So far the only mobs that have sometimes dropped pages for me are the world and delve bosses. Who very rarely drop two pages.

But having a community event quest rely on a 'lucky' droprate for participation, isn't a good feeling. It is impossible to do the daily on 20 characters like this. Some of my characters take 30 minutes to find 5 pages, and some other characters take 2+ hours to find 5 pages(doing the same things). Best I've done so far is 6 characters. Any more is just not worth it, not even 6 was worth it.

Maybe forcing atleast one page to drop from any shielded monster would give a reliable way for players to farm pages, with chances for a second page based on how many shields. So world bosses would be a player's best chance for farming pages. This would also allow players with little playing time to participate more, as they would be able to buy pages from guildtraders more easily.

Right now I have found the best way to complete the pages quest, is to quest through the zone on one character, and just bank the pages when you are done questing/farming. Then log in the other character(s) you want to complete the "turn the page" quest on, and take 5 out of the bank to complete it.

PS: You do not need the quest to get these pages.
PPS: The style pages do seem to drop at a fair rate though, have gotten 3 so far. Yay. (Love this, as this is the reason why I play/participate during events!)

I've just run around collecting resources on the Telvani peninsula, killed a couple of Herald Seekers and it took about 30 mins to get 5 pages. One dropped from a Psijic portal. Doesn't seem too bad a drop rate.

I have gotten a total of 10 parchments over 3 days of playing. I got my 10th this morning while doing the Necrom daily quest to kill some world boss.

It is clear that the intent of this parchment quest is not to do it every day, but to do it every couple days when enough tickets have been gathered.

I am still debating whether I want to take the quest and turn them in, sell them, or just junk them.

Yesterday (9/29) on PS/NA I finished the day with 14 parchment. I got 2 parchment while doing 12 Necrom dailies across 4 alts. And 12 parchment while completing veteran Sanity Edge trial with my guild.

ZOS - look at the numbers folks are reporting in this thread. Many folks are reporting that the Necrom dailies have a poor drop rate for parchments, and are getting less than 5 parchments every day. While folks that are harvesting resource nodes are getting more than 5 parchments every day.

    Let's talk about fixes:

Option 1: Put a guaranteed parchment with the reward from turning in a Necrom daily. Folks that do all 3 Necrom dailies on an alt with be guaranteed 3 parchments. This may not be enough to get them 5 overall, since the drop rate for parchment from delve mobs, world boss, bastion nymic bosses and mobs is so spotty, and there are very few resource nodes in those locations.

Option 2: Put a guaranteed parchment in every event box. Anyone doing Necrom dailies should get enough event boxes from turning in the quests and killing the bosses to get 5 on every alt that does all 3 dailies.

Separately, I don't know if ZOS cares about the large difference in reported numbers of parchments, where folks who are harvesting nodes are getting large numbers, and folks doing quests are getting too few. One fix for that would be to put a guaranteed parchment in every gold or purple event box, and remove them from everywhere else. I know that folks are getting purple boxes from monsters, resource nodes, treasure chests in Necrom. Everyone should get at least 5 parchment every day with this change.

Or another suggestion I offered in the zone chat - a guaranteed drop of one parchment from any source every ten minutes or so.

A question for those struggling to get parchments -arw you running around with Sharp or Azandar? I have been getting crafting mats and opening chests with Sharp with me, and have just over 100 parchments on 1 character.

The 6 parchments I have found over the duration of the event so far have come with Isobel out, on the first day. I had Azandar out while doing delve/wb dailies since, with 0 parchments since.

I've had both Sharp and Azandar out and have been getting a steady dop of parchments from various places. I've seen a lot of Isobels and Mirris out, so maybe you're onto something with using the Necrom companions.

I haven't collected any companions beyond Bastian and Mirri yet, and I've been finding parchments pretty steadily, so I don't think it has anything to do with companions.

Yesterday I spent more time in Apocrypha than in the Telvanni Peninsula, and I barely found any, so I was wondering if they might drop more often in the Telvanni Peninsula than in Apocrypha?

Or it might simply be the quirky unpredictability of RNG.

I only did the event yesterday but it took me longer to get 5 pages than to complete the entire of 'The Cost of Knowledge' quest, which requires going through 3 delves and Bastion Nymic. I didn't kill all the delve bosses but I did complete Bastion Nymic and got zero pages while inside. In the process I completed the weekly endeavour for killing 300 enemies (I was away earlier in the week so I started that at the same time as the quests) and had almost completed the one for gathering materials.

All the pages I did get came from crafting nodes and random normal mobs in Telvanni Penninsula (none in Apocrypha, but the drop rate was so low overall that I'm not sure that's significant).

One person in my guild kept on telling me and everyone else who complained about the drop rate that they got "loads" of pages from material nodes and to just keep checking them, but they were very much the exception, the majority of people who had tried said they had trouble finding enough to complete the quest.

I didn't have time to hunt for them today, but I might attempt it again tomorrow, or more likely pick up the quest and see if I can get 5 pages across a few days, but I'm certainly not going to be completing it daily with this drop rate.

I don't know if this was mentioned already and if it was sorry but I just wanted to say you can buy the esoteric parchments from traders. Not that you should but I just wanted to let everyone know you have the option. I found some cheap ones by looking on Tamriel. The higher priced ones are going for about 20k ea but I did find some going for 3k-6k ea.

It's simple, this daily is impossible to complete, as of the time I am writing this I have spent almost 2 hours in necrom
    -killing WBs
    -Stealing stuff
    -Looting nodes
    -Looting chests
    -Doing treasuremaps
    -Doing Nymics
    -Killing mobs
    -Fishing
    -Doing daily quests

and so far I have found ZERO esoteric parchments, while true, ~2 hours isn't that long to farm in the grand scheme of things, you do have to remember, these aint some special rare drop, they are meant to be collectables for a DAILY EVENT QUEST, the fact that it takes more than 20 mins at the absloute most means that clearly something is broken

@ZOS_Kevin can you poke the dev team and get them to fix this so we can actually take part in the event's global mechanic?

I assumed at first people were just being melodramatic with the complaining, but no, it really is a *** drop rate. I've been playing for TWO DAYS.... I've done dungeons & delves, killed world boss after world boss after world boss, harvested everything in sight, pickpocketed, opened treasure chests galore... and I have two pathetic, measly parchments. At this rate, I'll be lucky to complete the "daily" quest 1 or 2 times in a 10 day event.

It's a shame, too; I really enjoy the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha, and it could have been an awesome event. But no, we can't have nice things here anymore, apparently.
