As a tank wearing full heavy armor (no speed CP, no speed potions, no RotWH), I wouldn't even bother with the people rushing further in. I'll gladly wait for the re-queue penalty to pass than to get left behind and deal with all of the adds by myself.

Because it's the decent Human being thing to do.
My dungeons have been much like the last event for the low level dungeons that dungeon finder sent us to. We rush through (I follow, like a good lemming) and then when the dungeon is finished a few of us go back and finish off the other bosses.

I do the same.
I've had some great experiences in dungeons. When you get a group who want to work together, it's pretty much one of the best aspects of the game. I guess this event is not for this.
If you're playing on pc eu I can recommend you a guild specifically founded for slower-paced dungeon runs if you want. No need to be overboarding social there. More like an improved group finder with optional socializing.

When I get a PUG that is failing because of a speed runner, or folks that aren't doing their role, like 2 fake DPS that together are not doing 10k DPS in a DLC dungeon, one of the other team members will point this out and then quit group. Since I am entering queue with a tank (in tank build) or healer (in healer build), my queue times are not long, so I'm OK when this happens. I'm doing a few PUG per day during this event with my tank and/or my healer, and it has been fun overall, with only a few failures.

The thing is, I really don't mind racing through - I don't. I just expect someone to maybe say at the beginning, "hey, how about we race through?"
Maybe I'm the problem.

No, you're not the problem. Both sides of the coin have to compromise if this community is ever going to manage to stop being so divisive over literally everything.I'm a speed runner, just because that's how I like to do all of my gaming, plus I don't have a ton of free time to meander through content and would also like to enjoy the rewards of this event. I ALWAYS ask at the beginning "Hi! speed run?". Sometimes people respond with "yes" or "doing quest", and the group adjusts to make sure the quester gets what they need, but most of the time I just get ignored. People need to learn to clearly and respectfully communicate what they want/need, or they forfeit their right to be angry at the outcome.
I don't always see the chat. I have it set so it pops up and then disappears. It takes me too long to answer on Xbox without a keyboard.
I usually follow the leader - the one with the crown - even if no one else does.

You're right, they've done absolutely nothing... and they never will.
So many previous posts about a story mode and players speeding through dungeons. Nothing will ever be done.
I'm ok, I can get my tickets. Not so, with players at a lower level. I would happily run through a dungeon with low level players and stop at every NPC and lore book. I remember the wonder of it all.
I wish zos would finally cater to everyone.

I have heard the devs say often..."We make the games we would want to play" that means them not necessarily the largest demographic in the game...they claim to be expanding the companion system more hopefully that means them being functional for more content than just overland...but I won't hold my breath.
