The thing is, I really don't mind racing through - I don't. I just expect someone to maybe say at the beginning, "hey, how about we race through?"
Maybe I'm the problem.
No, you're not the problem. Both sides of the coin have to compromise if this community is ever going to manage to stop being so divisive over literally everything.I'm a speed runner, just because that's how I like to do all of my gaming, plus I don't have a ton of free time to meander through content and would also like to enjoy the rewards of this event. I ALWAYS ask at the beginning "Hi! speed run?". Sometimes people respond with "yes" or "doing quest", and the group adjusts to make sure the quester gets what they need, but most of the time I just get ignored. People need to learn to clearly and respectfully communicate what they want/need, or they forfeit their right to be angry at the outcome.
I do the same, i ask or for this event i typically just run with my prog mates.

I really don't have a problem with a speed run, not at all. It just makes a huge difference when someone at the beginning says, "hey... speed run?" rather than just taking off and expecting everyone else just to follow them.

I agree, it's really bad habit not to greet fellow players before doing content together. Takes less than a minute and shows manners.
I feel like normal dungeons, especially non DLC ones, are always speedruns in this game. People can do so much damage that mechanics usually do not matter and from my experience, pure healers and tanks are rarely needed (I've even seen some vet dungeons go more smoothly because everyone was a DPS with some decent heals).... but I can see how people try to rush through them even more because they probably don't actually want to be there and just want their daily tickets or are farming reward boxes during this event, and how that can be aggravating for those who would like to take their time with the dungeons.... same way I get a little irritated during PvP events when I end up with clear PvE players in my BG groups. I still would never point fingers at those players though because the real issue is Zenimax's approach to event design.... which is basically just forcing people to do some kind of content they don't really want to do, rather than actually making new and unique features/gameplay for them like GW2 (MMO with the best events imo) and WoW does.
I have not had a crack at the dungeons added this year (and even last year). And now it's too late for me because everyone will just want to speed through. My problem though, not anyone else's.

I did the new dungeons from firesong and Necrom on normal with a random group just this past week for the first time. Nobody was rushing through them, bosses even seemed a bit more tricky than previous dungeons. I ended up having to tank and heal quite a bit as a DPS to help keep the team up in two of them.
I did try one on vet during this event though and that was a huge mess, haha. We could not get past the first boss and I ended up having to take over tanking in that fight.... but I don't think you'll have a terrible experience on normal if you wait until the event is over, at least. Luckily it's not a long one.

I've been farming dungeons solo to fill up my sticker book, and honestly it's been a breeze. I'm 5 drops away from being done with all of the vanilla dungeons and then I'll be working on finishing all of the DLC dungeons as well. If friends want to join then super, but otherwise I'm rolling solo.

DLC dungeons as well?
I can do a few, but if you want company with the latest, I'm always here.
It have been like this for some year´s now. Haven´t attent any event for two year´s or so - the dungeon event was the first I skiped, and now dungeons all together.
I was going to skip this event. I can solo the base game dungeons - well, most of them. It's enough to get my tickets. I also find it difficult being social.
But, I felt like being part of a group so tried twice. Both times, tank raced ahead. I tried to keep up but ended up dying to whatever they pulled.
Back to being a loner again.
