Crown Crate Gifting Temporary Solution Process

I have a question about those of us that have purchased ESO on, and off of Steam. My account, for instance, is linked to a Steam account, and I primarily play through the platform. I'm curious how it would work if I wanted to gift crates to someone who also has an independent ESO account, and then later wanted to gift to someone who also plays through Steam. Would I be able to gift to either of these people?

based on what kevin posted earlier in the thread, it would have to be the same platform

so your steam eso acct could gift to someone who has steam eso account
your non-steam eso can only gift to another non-steam eso acct

That much I got. I was just confused if I'd need to log in to the Steam account to gift to Steam people, and the ESO account for not-Steam people. As was mentioned, I don't have an option to log into the Steam account from the Support login, only the ESO account. Also, any attempt to log in with Steam sends me to the linked ESO account, so I'm wondering if I would need to unlink the accounts.

I do sincerely hope that when the website is made live that it also allows for full transaction processing for the exchange of gold for crowns between players. Where the transfer is done either in a COD manner or both parties have to put info in on the website that matches and ZoS processes both the removal of gold and the gift of crates.

You put in the request through your ESO account, but you specify in the request that it is for your Steam account trading to another Steam account.

Sounds reasonable. The worst that can happen is the request gets denied.

    ...I hope.

Hey bro, Is this limited to only guildmates and ppl on our friends list?

    ^^

I also sell crowns to people that aren't my friends or in any of my guilds.

Will they also facilitate crown sales? As in they will deduct the coin from the person you want to gift and give it to you? Or do you just have to hope the person is trustworthy as you wait for days?

They don't seem to mention any gold transaction part of it, but they do mention that this is for friends and guildmates. I think this method is meant for people who want to give a gift to their friends for free, not for sellers. That's the impression I have.

ZoS knows most of the gifting, is/was both parties receiving something for the transaction.
Somehow some way, this will be kept in the 'loop'.

Guess we'll all know soon enough 🙏

After multiple months, I appreciate the effort. I also commend Kevin for keeping us informed about the issue, although he obviously has no say on the matter or the solutions. However, this is not the kind of fix you would expect from a company handling a triple A MMORPG. Last time I saw something similar was in a private server for WoW, in 2012.

I'd like to request some clarification on the comment you made in post #16, which @Necrotech_Master referenced in post #32, above.

To me, this bit "Steam and Windows matters does matter here." implies that Steam users and Windows users can gift crates between themselves, as long as they are on the same megaserver, NA or EU.

However, the rest of your statement, "You will need to be in the same environment. It's a limitation of working between different storefronts." could be taken as a contradiction of the first part, implying that gifting from "Steam NA to Windows NA" isn't possible.

So, please, which interpretation is correct?

Thanks for all your efforts!

I know the majority of my crowns are sold to people that do not have the means to spend real money in-game. It was a combo of friends, guildies and randoms in zone chat.

Hopefully this temp way will allow for that as well. If not, it is a missed opportunity, to continue making as much with mico-transactions.

I'm sure all will be fine but (just the 'delay' will not be 'ideal' to some that want their crowns as soon as they post) support will be taking on even more tickets......so they'll need plenty of Redbull 🍻

also i did not provide a steam ID for steam user, recipient of gifts

i just wrote ingame @id to support and they proceed without steam ID

so the post of @ZOS_Kevin was incorrect

PC platform its one platform, now a few, not divided between steam and non-steam

Hi all, just wanted to clarify the PC requirements. After chatting with the team, they are going to facilitate the various PC storefront transactions (Windows, Steam) simply under PC. You will still need to be on the same megaserver, but we will carry out crown crate gifting between various PC storefronts. So you should just need your in-game ID to work out what you need.

For those asking about Epic, they will be added into the PC pool when the game is available on the Epic Launcher.

The program currently is specific to crown crate gifting. So sadly, no facilitating crown sales right now.

But crown crate gifting is a major source of crown sales. I would estimate that 90% of the items I purchase from other palyers is crown crates. These are not separate things. There is a lot of overlap. Could you please pass on that information, as I'm very interested in that functionality as a crown buyer. This is the vast majority of my crown "gifts," and the way I have obtained many of my crate items.

Pleasantly surprised the team is doing this. Question while I understand they arent being faciliated will zos provide assurances in the case of scams?

If the buyer screenshots the terms of the agreement for crates in chat and gives the seller gold, and the seller runs with the gold and never puts a request in, does the buyer have any recourse to get the gold back?

Acceptable but I hope this is not the final solution. A direct in-game trade using money and crown could be much more convenient and will be safe from scams.
