The Most Important Bug that NEEDS to be Addressed this U39

Stuck in Combat.

Seriously, purge us of this plague once and for all. If we are getting a bug fixing update, we need this to be addressed. Please. Someone. Anyone. This affects every single player who engages in any form of combat, from low level to endgame to pvp to pve. It is time. Period. Give us this. Tell us what is going on. I cannot stress to you how important this is and affects the whole community. Show us that you want to make sure that this QoL update is truly impactful.

    For a patch dedicated to bug fixing, I'm disappointed (although not surprised) that this wasn't even hinted at. Not even an attempt to fix the issue that is a meme at this point.

    One way this is caused is by using Shield Charge. Do you know what this also means? I can not use the skill! PVP, PVE, dummies, *** around tagging crabs. The animation will eventually bug out your character and you will not be able to move.

    My HA Sorc friend just loaded into a dungeon and could not move. All he did was nothing.

    The only way to fix this is by logging out. "/stuck" and "/reloadui" do nothing helpful because you can't move to the wayshrine. You can maybe get luck and spam roll dodge, but that doesn't work either.

    So, please fix this before change weapons thanks ZOS.
    Making a game fun should be a priority. Making a game balanced should not come at the expense of fun.

    I suspect I'll be typing this more than once, but it seems like the focus was on quantity rather than quality or degree of impact.

    Which, in a way, I understand, as there's list that's been building for years and the team probably felt overwhelmed and wanted to knock off as much low hanging fruit as possible... but that's not the way to win the hearts and minds of the people. Most of these fixes don't have a far-reaching impact or address the "this is so frustrating!!!" moments.

    I personally don't care if things like "a quest giver momentarily appears in the wrong place" EVER get fixed, if we could get annoying issues like "stuck in combat" fixed. And I bet I'm not alone.
    My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

    If i could agree twice with this i would. Coming at it from a pvp perspective it is beyond infuriating to be stuck with this bug especially when you need to ride to a keep to defend it and you can not

    Why are people still expecting this to be fixed? This bug has been present for most of the game's lifespan. If they could fix it, they would fix it.

    Would appreciate it of the devs would just say SOMETHING about this bug. They’ve been doing better with communication in some areas, but sweet Stendarr, they absolutely keep quiet about other serious issues. Was pretty disappointed when there wasn’t even a hint of the bug in the patch notes.

    I found a plus on this bug.

    Being a wall goblin as an arcanist I was able to take advantage of being stuck in combat via the 'Healing Tides' passive.

    Crux now expires, and can only be generated while in combat however thanks to this neat trick I was able to have three crux permanently active thus increasing my healing done by 9% which in turn increases how much each stone 'heals' resulting in faster repair rates and better AP gains per stone.

    That's right, being stuck in combat confers an advantage.

    Find more situations where being stuck in combat confers an advantage and maybe, just maybe, they will look into fixing the bug instead of straight nerfing the mechanic it affects. It's a crap shot but what else do we have?

    While is only detrimental it is unlikely to get addressed.

    This may be a stretch, but is there ANYTHING you are able to do to get this prioritized with the team? This bug has been present for years upon years. It is time to squash it and I trust you are the ones who can address this.

    If there was a point in this game's life where it didn't exist then it is, indeed, fixable. Chances are they don't want or care to invest the time and resources necessary to untangle whatever got tangled up to cause this bug.

    What I don't understand is that we have this several years old in combat bug and they keep adding things dependent on the in combat status. Just from the current patch notes:
    While grouped, you can no longer leave an instanced area while in combat.

    What is the exact reasoning to introduce something like this when the in combat status broken since years? I mean for this change to happen someone had to develop it, someone had to test it and someone had to sign it off to let it into the next update. So that's at least 3 people at ZOS either entirely unaware of longstanding bugs or doing it knowingly and regardless that it's broken. Neither of these possibilities put a favorable light on the game development in the slightest...

    For Cyrodiil, I wish the wayshrines to LEAVE Cyro had the silence/invuln mechanic that IC doors do. They could use this to clear combat.

    I don't know what kind of implications it could have for PvE zones, but when you can't travel while in combat anyways ....

    The thing is, they DO have a possible workaround they COULD enact, if they cared at all.

    Several years ago in a patch where this bug was so bad in cyro that you basically would remain in combat indefinitely always, they made a temporary change that allowed players to mount up, change gear, slot siege, change cp, etc while in combat, if they hadn't done or received damage/healing/buffs from other players in 30 seconds or so.

    They have the capability to provide us a workaround for this. We know that for a fact. They just don't care.

    Here's a fun message from @ZOS_RichLambert during Monday's livestream. This was the same day they closed the 2015 thread about the bug as well :)

    As a healer if you healed anyone and they'd tagged a player who didn't die you were stuck in combat forever. I spent more time running from Ales to Ash than I ever spent on my mount for well over a couple of years. Finally the bug affected/infected the damage dealers, like the nightblade playing PvP dev, and they finally came up with this work around a year or so later. Bliss.

    I will note. It did improve for a while after the recent performance patch....everything did. No stuck in combat, no crashing at big keep fights, skills fired, ults worked rather than just consuming resources, streak applied the stun and break free worked and gave you the CC immunity it had been meant to. Now all of these issues have returned too but stuck in combat is the worst ...so no mount travel, no transit travel and not even being able to log out to fix it, is back with a vengeance. The only fix is to kill yourself or occasionally entering a delve would work. If you could enter.
