I have been playing about a month now...

Personally I put chest stealer type players in the same category as the people who put farming bots on the servers. Cheaters one and all.

Sometimes it might feel like someone is dipping in to take something from under your nose, but it can be positional lag. I play with family members and it's comical to see the positional difference, screen to screen.

However, the true node criminals are the ones that selectively leave junk behind. Their punishment should be having to listen to certain NPCs complaining about shad astula admissions for a few hours.

The guys who sit there and leave the junk behind in chest are turds too.

But I don't mean people who accidently take something because of lag, but those who have enough time that they can't possibly NOT see you and just take it anyways.

The one guy I know for a fact robbed was actually in Craglorn on the double drops thing, there was a chest surrounded by like 5 NPCs, I was fighting them but also leveling up my sword and shield so it took me time to kill them. I was down to my last 2 of them when this wet fart slips past and just takes the chest using me as the distraction knowing I was fighting the mobs to get to it.

If we are claiming the thief being an RP Player, then by RP Standards I should have the ability to Blade of Woe them in the back for it and then loot their corpse of what they just took.

If we have people like that that have no recourse on dealing with them, I would support instanced loot and reduced locations to deal with it. Then when they complain, you can blame those who abused the old system.

It's a case of accidental versus intentional. Accidentally taking something because you didn't see them is understandable, but sitting there and saying "Screw them I want it" is another thing entirely.

I see this regularly. Some people are selfish and have no manners, basically. Last night's highlight in the same vein was the same person squatting one room without leaving in a public dungeon for two hours, destroying everything the moment it respawned, making it literally impossible for anyone else to complete the dungeon.

I apologize Northwold, but I think there are some situations where camping a mob would be acceptable.

I remember back when I was a newbie in a public dungeon, I wanted to kill bosses for particular loot. But I could not, because a high level player was doing very fast rotations through the dungeon, and I was not able to keep up with their speed. So I camped a particular boss, which enabled me to get a few hits in before they inevitably came back around and destroyed it.

I have some friends too, who have disabilities in their hands, so much that it's easier to stick to one spot and kill things rather than constantly going throughout the dungeon.

So I disagree with the idea that squatting or camping is automatically done in bad faith.

Unless you meant that someone was killing a particular boss so fast amd so constantly that it prevented other people from getting any hits in (and therefore getting the achievement for it). In which case I apologize, as I am not sure I am interpreting your words accurately.

I remember being really surprised when I had just started to try and pick locks and suddenly I'm interrupted by a troll and before I can even react to that this guy somehow managed evade the toll and pick it. He must have been there biding his time. It just seemed so impolite.

Then many months later I got the chest glow unlock from scrying and realised just how abundant chests actually are out in the world, and I thought back to that guy again and it struck me as even more funny that he swooped in to nab that chest instead of walking in any direction and finding another. Early villainy is memorable villainy.

But it happens a lot, you finish picking the chest and someone is waiting there for their shot. I guess it's just a reminder that the sweet loots inside are nobody's till they're in your sweaty little claws.

Anyways, it's nice to respect people when you see them out and about, sometimes I encounter another person aiming for the same node and we do a cute little "no, after you" dance.

Yeah it's the other way round. It's a very high level player killing literally everything in one public dungeon room in seconds, and immediately doing it again the moment the enemies respawn. And again. And again.

Effectively, its the high level player you describe but never bothering to leave the room. Certain dungeons attract this kind of behaviour because they can be farmed for specific loot, but it's really, really not on and unbelievably selfish to not even bother to go round the whole dungeon. That player meant anyone trying to do that dungeon's quest either couldn't, or if they timed it absolutely perfectly might get in one hit.

There are times when no one likes that ESO is multiplayer because you just want to do what you want to do without hassle. But it is multiplayer and it really doesn't take that much effort / basic decency to understand that you're sharing a space.

Yeah it's the other way round. It's a very high level player killing literally everything in a dungeon in seconds on a loop.

Ah gotcha. I'm sorry I misunderstood. I suspected I was not understanding properly. Thank you for the clarification! :)

It's a role playing thing. If you are an assassin in the dark brotherhood, have maxed out legerdemain and thieves guild skill lines and been infected by a vampire, it would seem wrong to be nice.

Everyone thinks role players just sit in the Friendly Arm Inn chatting about drinking ale, but they can be a real danger to people's pockets.

This only counts if you are also wearing the dark brotherhood outfit with the hood.

I am also going to point out that sometimes, this game has rather weird idiosyncrasies.
I saw a guy, fighting near a chest -- ok, it's his -- log spawned in right next to me, and I hovered over it, it said Birch Wood ( I distinctly remember that) and hit E... at which point my character turns 90 degrees right, and runs about 8 meters to grab that chest ... NO, I didn't want that, and I even apologized .... no response, but it is NOT always intentional, either.

However, I also have to agree, until it is in your pouch, pack, etc... it's not yours, per se.... and technically, fair game for anyone... So I avoid getting upset over it....
