New in game currency/Extraction Merchant

Basically you earn points for repeatedly grinding content like Arenas, Trials, Dungeon, Overland etc.

Example: You clear Maelstrom Arena and you can sell that last Maelstrom weapon to an Extraction merchant for Extraction Points that can be used to purchase stuff in the merchants inventory.

The merchants inventory should be updated with motifs, style pages and other stuff that players have a need for in game more then once so you have a reason to Come back while waiting for new added loot.

There should be both bound and tradeable stuff but not disturbing the Gold economy to much.

Endless of loot can be added to the merchants inventory like maybe even leads for scrying, gear, updates with new motifs etc etc.

I think it would be very enjoyable for players that like grinding to have a goal to grind for and not just play content that drops the same weapon or gear over and over again.

Do you think a Merchant like this be fun?

    If a trial or arena run doesn't reward you enough, it's time to switch to something else.
    You know, PvP or housing for example.

    There plenty of profits you potentially have after run. Gear, transmutes, motifs/outfits, fun with friends or you own.
    Really, if it isn't fun anymore and the stickerbook and motif are fulfilled, just stop.

    I think it would be better to just have a chance for something else to drop if your stickerbook is full for an area.

    It would be fun to occasionally find something useful in overland areas.

    People might be in less of a rush to burn through dungeons if the extra bosses had a chance to drop something for them. (During the events where the Dungeon bosses dropped items for the event I noticed less players skipped them)

    Thing is im tired of the useless loot this game has to offer when you already have everything you need.

    For example running VMA when you have all weapons, titles or dont care about achievements and leaderboards. What do you get for for clearing it? Some XP and a few hundreds gold.

    No, but the concept is intriguing. Thing is people will quickly figure out the "fastest" way to earn it and it just becomes yet another new grind. End game PVE activity / repetition is far less appealing when there is zero motivation ( you have what you are after - your gear/stickerbook/motif/etc ) yet little else has that same " challenge ".

    As mentioned above, when it gets like that it is best to just stop doing it for your own sanity :)

    However, that is not the best outcome for the game's health and for keeping end game players. Perhaps if it was cosmetic rewards only to prevent a " must have " situation and required being acquired from multiple "end game" sources/activities to avoid a single "grind" source being exploited.

    Essentially similar to an Endeavor table but with no time frame and persisting NPC reward/shop inventory ( with new items added, not replacing existing items ).

    I understand the NO sayers and it would need something to prevent People to hoard Extraction points like Gold. Easiest way is to just have a Max cap on points.

    Would be Nice to see some coments from the Yes sayers also lol :D

    I'd argue instead to be able to do what you are asking for with already existing currency instead of yet another new one. We already have like 8 separate currencies to deal with. Another one is too many.

    This currency is points based, the more content you do the bigger the rewards are, if players still want to hoard Gold they should be doing that.

    There is definitely a need for an update to the reward system, as 90%+ of the rewards are in the Crown Store, but I don’t know if this is the way.

    While I agree that the challenge and sense of accomplishment is enough, equally I feel disappointed in deconstructing what should be incredibly valuable rewards but which are basically trash. You don't even get interesting style materials.

    I don't see how this different to gold (which can be used to get motifs, by trading) and other existing rewards, except that it would be gated behind reaching the point where all the other rewards run out - which is basically the game telling you it's ok to stop grinding that area and go and do something else.

    I don't think that's a good thing to encourage. Before we got the sticker book it was fairly common for people to keep grinding one area until well past the point where they were sick of it. I saw far more people saying they were relieved they got the drop they needed because now they never, ever had to go back to that part of the game ever again than people saying it was fun and they're glad they did it.

    1. The crafting system is stale and too simplistic. Players want something deeper and more interesting.
    2. The last thing a game needs is too many systems and currencies. We need depth, not breadth.

    IMO, a more elegant solution would be to reuse neglected, existing systems rather than invent yet another psuedo-currency. Treasures and Monster parts for instance could much more easily be co-opted into both crafting AND NPC merchants that sell items. Both Treasures and Monster Trophies are neglected and go nowhere

    Instead of a new currency, just let those unwanted drops be converted to Crown Gems (or Crowns), just like we convert unwanted/duplicate Crown Crate items now. You could get rid of the Endeavor Seals and just convert them to Crown Gems as well to simplify things.
