Major Lag spikes

SadiusHunter

I am constantly getting hit by massive Lag spikes, internets been perfectly fine but when I entered this game, I get hit with lag, which then I walk into an enemy accidentally, either I get kicked out or I get killed, when I respawn, I get hit with the lag again.
Have the developers acknowledged this as a priority to fix? Because I really am enjoying the game for the time that I have played it, I'd hate to not be able to play this anymore due to these issues
Note, I am Australian so that's probably part of the reason
EDIT : Thanks to a commenter on this, I found the fix to my issue http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/81707/endless-loading-screens-fix#latest Try this, this fixed it for me, shoutout to the person who found this fix and to the person who linked it in this post, Thank you both <3

I'll add on to this one.

I'm finding that every 30-40 seconds, the lags up (it hasn't frozen, it's just stopped in time). Often, this occurs at a most inconvenient time (Let me try and sneak past these mobs).

This morning, it seemed fine. This evening, however, it's just been frustrating and abysmal trying to accomplish anything

It's not local to me, as I've bounced around elsegames and have had zero problem. But ESO is hiccupping its way through half the game, and it's a bit frustrating.

experiencing the same thing, which there was a solution to this but i guess well have to wait for ZoS? its kinda pointless playing the early access if all that is happening is DC, DC and DC again
alot of people look at this signature, i guess youre one of them.

this happens to me alot also, and ive been reading alot about it. It seems that were the minority since were not getting a response out of this, I experience lag thats unbearable. Beta was better, then I get kicked out with this error. They really need to address this issue, i know not everyones experiencing this problem but some of us are, they really should help us out here.

Well its been going on since the release of early access and zenimax plays the blind guy who cant see the problems.

Since only the minority of the population are experiencing this, they are choosing to ignore it.

If you want changes you have to do specific actions to get results. I already asked for a refund and I sggest you guys to the same.

Despite finding out that we are only a small portion of the population, i think that 5-10% are experiencing this problem. If those 5-10% all asked for refunds zenimax will be forced to take action.

I know this because i am a team leader of a gaming company here in my country. I know the ins and out of the gaming industry.

Proof of this is that Zenimax already acknowledged the character zoom bug and still has no news about our lagging/dc problems. But judging by the number of topics about this issue they shouldve noticed it already.

Thing is, I like this game so far, when I get to play it, I enjoy it a whole lot, As much as I would like this bug to be fixed, which I am sure they are aware of and looking into it, I'd rather just wait
  • Woodwanderer
Well, I'll just sign up under this topic as I'm in the same situation with lag issue wich I realy haven't experienced playing anything else here so far; just eso. Weird and frustrating idd. Hope the solution comes sooner rather then later.

OK, so that makes you an expert in the problem and gives you inside knowledge that Zenimax are doing nothing about it and ignoring the problem.

    Correct?

You do realise that 'Early Start' is a free period of play time and that teething problems like this are to be expected, in spite of a large-scale beta stress testing test series?

If you're not happy to deal with this sort of early problem then maybe Early Start isn't for you?

Yes. I am aware that being in early access, it is normal to experience these kinds of problems. Almost every mmo release have problems regarding connections. But the big difference is that zenimax isnt considering this issue as one of the problems. They wont fix it because they dont acknowledge it as a problem. They blame isps from around the world instead of accepting their faults.

Proof? Well take a look at developers section. Almost every detail are being posted there. You can see their focusing their resources in fixing a stupid zoom bug in char. Creation and on launcher. But not a single word about this unknown error issue.

If youve been following zenimax for quite a while, you will know that they always update their players when it comes to fixing bugs and the fact that they still havent posted something about this issue means that they are ignoring it.

Same problem. I struggled with this non stop Sunday morning for about three hours until i just gave up. Pretty much first early release day was shot.

Ermmm !!! this has not been my experience, worth quoting when asking for a refund ......

ZeniMax Lead Developer Matt Firor rallied the legions of Elder Scrolls Online fans today with a lengthy post about what the studio's done and what it's planning to do to ensure a successful launch of the game.

Firor said that beta feedback and testing has been invaluable, prompting the team to streamline the starting experience and make combat "more substantial." He was also impressed by what he saw during testing: "Some of the things we've discovered with your help excite and inspire us -- like seeing that 98% of characters created have a unique appearance, or seeing the first emperor crowned in our epic PvP system -- while other findings challenge us to make the game better."

"We will make sure that no matter where you live, every player in North America, Europe, Oceania, and many places beyond will have a polished, lag-free launch experience," Firor promised.

I too have been experiencing this. Its not all the time but enough to be annoying. It goes through bouts of it and I get loot lag, mob lag, combat lag and then it will go ok. This never happened in beta and I believe most of the issues are the sheer number of people online. combined with the fact that the EU servers are still in the US which kinda defeats the purpose of having a EU server. I know they said they are sorting this soon.

That does not mean he does not have a right to complain about this issue. Early start is being sold as an incentive and it would be expected that it is fairly stable, not that it's "5 days early start but latency so high you can't enjoy it, thanks for your purchase!" Bit sycophantic of you towards ESO to think otherwise no?

I believe that the issue is the exact one here:

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/61061/can-t-play-game-after-tutorial-in-the-prison/p1

Which started off looking like a VM problem only but now looks to be much broader in scope.

I've been experiencing this since beta, I notice my FPS go from 60 to 0 and then jumps around 30-40 and then back to 60 every few minutes...it's rather annoying. I know its not my video card b/c i just upgraded to a Asus 780ti. My Internet is fine without lag as I play BF4 without interruptions like this and my ping is around 50. Anyone else comment on this? or have similar experiences?

Ping isn't any issue here. It goes from responsive to not responsive...and just when I think I'm about to get booted out, it kicks into gear again.

Too many people complaining about this in game and on various forums to be an 'anomaly'.

Glad I'm not the only one.

    It's quite unplayable for me.
While in Wailing prisons, game runs smoothly for a few minutes, then I loot a chest or fight a mob and notice everything around me has frozen. I have to wait a few minutes for it all to "catch up" and usually die despite spamming attacks
    Getting very annoying.

Played the Beta perfectly so it cant be the fact that i live in South Africa

Same problem here. Started 3 days early access and at the start it was fine and by start I mean wailing prisons starting area. After that all hell broke loose... 1st thing I noticed upon getting to Auridon, people around me run like with teleports lol. After that started trashing mobs and surprise - 10 sec spike with me dead and lvl 5 mob dancing over my corpse. It's even worse in public dungeons. You try to attack mob you need or any group of mobs and you either miss the whole fight with no loot or as a previous case - mobs laughing at you while you eat dirt. And of course random disconnects are the best.
As people before me I'm sure it's not my isp connection because I play wow/neverwinter/swtor and other mmorpgs with occasional 1-2 sec lag spikes few times per day. I really enjoyed beta and surprisingly I had no such problem there. I hope they can and will fix this otherwise its 60$ down the drain.

Yepp. Same problem here, the game freezes for about 10 sec now and again. When its not frozen i am lagg free. This does not happen when i play other games.

I am experiencing the same lag issues in NZ. Sometimes I can play perfectly fine and other times its impossible to play. My internet speed is fine and I was able to download the game at speeds between 1-3Mbps. I've tried playing on three different internet connections and they all work for a time before the lag spikes start happening.

I am having the same issue. The weird thing is it has just started for me after getting home from work today. I played fine the last two days with zero lag. Now, it is unplayable and I occasionally disconnect with "Unknown Error." It's like this on both of my computers, so it's not an issue with my computer.

It seems like no one else in game is lagging though?
  • jadedknutb14_ESO
Same problem...people around the screen teleport constantly and I get a significant amount of lag in between abilities that makes it very hard to kill mobs. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and for a while I thought I fixed it, but the next day it was back.

I have this problem as well. I have noticed that when I am in an area with more people (and at various times of the day, such as evening hours which are key gaming hours and more crowded) that it gets worse and worse. Basically, I'm able to play with this being a minor problem if I am playing in the morning or early afternoon on a weekday, but any time that I actually want and am able to play for the most part, I can't :( PLEASE ZENIMAX PLEASEEE FIX THIS! It is definitely not my computer or connection, or drivers, I have already made sure of that.
  • celldwellerxeb17_ESO
Same here, been having constant latency issues in combat and NPC dialogue.
  • MydLyfeCrysis
Same here. It was perfectly find in the Cold Harbor intro area, and for a bit on Bleakrock, but once I hit the next areas the game was unplayable. It wasn't an issue of FPS, as my FPS was a constant 60-80 range.

I could run around the world all I wanted, however, I could not interact with anything. If I pushed ability buttons, after a solid minute, one might activate, characters would rubber band around the screen, then it would all stop again. The entire world in stasis but me.

I want to love this game. I'll admit I am an Elder Scrolls fanboy. But what am I supposed to do here?
  • MydLyfeCrysis
UPDATE: Did a fresh install with the patch. So far, runs like a dream. I dunno it if will last, but currently I have no issues at all.
  • enrico.proctorub17_ESO
I am still having lag issues even after updating with the patch. I have been experiencing this problem since the launch of the game.
  • ashley-jamesb16_ESO
Having the same issue here in the UK, it was present in the beta and now in live where everything can be fine then i get a 1-4 second freeze, this is sometimes enough for a mob to kill me.
  • creaturefx
I live in the US and I am having the same problem. Tonight was intolerable. I played fine during the Beta and since the 5 day play period I have been having nothing but lag problems. I hope they fix this soon!
