at some point later today i'm gonna make a seperate post, but after testing my thoughts are:

    glacial presence is great
    piercing cold is really stupid
and advanced species is a bit better now that there's no 2nd crit dmg passive, but still would be nice if it didn't hurt medium builds.

It would still be beneficial over all to not have a capped stat. Bring back % damage done or give a flat damage bonus.

Of course, but you have better odds winning the lottery than getting exactly what you want. At this point, the fact that Warden doesn't double up on Crit Damage is at least a positive. They're not as easily capped.

Due to the way the cap works at 125%, classes giving around 10% crit damage is a solid place. The previous iteration of the passives put Warden at 19-25% which completely shut out Medium armor. Now there is a little bit more flexibility.

Again, I think we all would prefer the original 2% damage done, but we at least managed to convince them to avoid the double passive issue. Thats a semi decent win in my books, so I feel neutral about Advanced Species. If Piercing Cold and Winter's Revenge were updated to not require a Frost staff, I'd be perfectly happy with the recent changes from U33-36..

yeah, i pretty much agree on all points made here. i wish advanced species wasn't crit damage, but given glacial i'm willing to let it slide now that there's not 2 passives for 1 capped stat.

I’m still trying to understand why they approached changes to frost damage on warden via equipping a frost staff, when absolutely no one asked for or desired that.

What was their incentive for doing it this way?

As a non-frost dmg PVP MagDen, this amounts to -8% magic dmg, and -pen on Advanced Species for crit dmg I don’t build for due to everyone still wearing impen trait because of Stamblades spamming killers blade.

Sigh. Guess I’ll try building a PVP frostden…

Or maybe just finally drop MagDen and go MagPlar. Radiant Opression is looking pretty juicy these days. Imagine having a ranged execute… that isnt dodged every time, and doesnt take 9 seconds to cast..,

I think that people did actually ask for it back in the day. But they didn't realise the consequences at the time.

-The change got everything to do with the "hybridization" which to this moment feels half backed to creates many balance outliners. For example, Stamden which was always considered stronger compared to Magden, now getting full access to all of the previously Magen exclusive passives, utility and healing options.

-Because the distinction between Stamden and Magden does not exist anymore, you can force this distinction by forcing the use of the ice staff in order to fully capitalize on many of the Warden passives.

    - Is it the perfect solution? Probably not, unless this weapon approach is going to be a future theme around all classes.

-Instead of a "non-frost dmg PVP MagDen" clarification, I would say, a non Ice staff wielder Warden. The meta 2H/DW Warden will still be very good next patc evenh with the trade from pen to crit damage, the 10% damage boost on "Deep Fissure' only to 2% from any damage source, the 10% crit damage to chilled targets for the the extra damage from chill if you happened to use "Arctic Blast" for example.

-Feel also free to explore Ice staff Warden, lots of options that does not have to be fully focused on Ice damage.
