    They double nerfed the damage, and the animation is putrid. So no, it's probably the single worst change templar has ever seen. You could weave with jabs on live.

    Let me rephrase for you.

    The negatives of the damage being gutted and the horrible animation far outweigh the good of the cast time reduction making it easier to weave.

    I'm clearly talking about the time completely separately from the damage or from the animation, so rephrasing doesn't change the continued "misunderstanding". :)

    So.. no, there's no misunderstanding.

    Hi. I also wanted to voice my opinion on how well I feel they did jabs as it is now, and how the current jab changes on PTS are really bumming out a lot of templar mains. Although I don't think anecdotal feedback should be ignored, since I think a valid response can be found if people don't like the feel of things, I know some devs who are working on this are more concerned with data. I hope the fact that non-class spammables are outperforming the spammable that is a pillar of the uniqueness of the class isn't lost. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    I went back on the PTS today to try and play around with Templar again... and I just cannot bring myself to like or enjoy the jabs/sweeps animation and mechanic change. It's such a bummer because I've been maining Templar since I started playing back in 2016. I love this class, I have played through so many nerfs and buffs to jabs/sweeps and those parts don't bother me so much, nerfs suck, don't get me wrong but you can adapt to those things.

    Mechanical changes to jabs/sweeps is what really sucks. Losing the 4th jab and shortening the skill feels like a drain on resources, because your rotation is sped up now. It might be slight but you can feel it. And yeah I know, we get really powerful heavy attacks with empower now to help with that, but it still feels bad. I never had a problem with weaving light attacks on the current 1 second jabs/sweeps, so I don't really understand why this is necessary.

    Worst of all is that animation. I hate the new spear, I dislike that it's an in game motif that has nothing to do with Templars too. That super awkward and dramatic swing of the spear back behind your character on the final jab is so weird looking and incredibly distracting in combat. And the speed of the spear jabbing feels slower ironically for a shorter animation, and the actual jabbing motion seems softer and less aggressive. I went to go play around in vVH and yeah I can still do it as a mid tier player, it takes a bit longer w/e, but that animation was so off putting I just lost all motivation to keep playing after giving some feedback. I just didn't want to keep looking at that ability.

    And to those who would suggest simply not slotting the skill, I really dislike that idea too. Jabs/Sweeps is a core Templar identity skill. It's one of the first you get when you start a new Templar and it's the class spamable. I love the animation on live, I like the way it moves, the way it looks and even sounds. Part of that is because it's familiar sure, but it's also just animated better over all - and surely, if they have to, just absolutely feel like for some reason they have to shorten jabs/sweeps, why can't we use the old animation? shorten it, pretty up the resolution if needed, but it was fine as is honestly.

    I don't have a lot of hope for next weeks pts patch notes, it feels like we are being resigned to this change that a large majority of Templar players do not want based on feedback I've seen.

    I'll still play my Templar main, but I'll probably just be collecting daily login rewards and endeavors if these changes go through, just holding out on the hope one day these changes can be reverted.

    This really gets me, it just feels so lazy, that they couldn't even spend half a minute making an entirely new look for the spear (not that there was anything wrong with the existing one that was perfectly synchronised in look across jabs, shards, javelin, all of it). They literally just did a colour reskin, they might as well have just slapped it into the crown store with all the other colour reskins they do.
