Camera is all messed up

Walking past any walls, or having walls behind you, and et cetera, forces the camera into first person. Is there a setting I'm missing? Since U33, using gamepad UI.

    Same here.

I came to the forum just to see if it was just a 'me' problem.

Camera is mostly fine if not sneaking, however if one is sneaking any collision in the vicinity will force it to first person.

    In narrow corridors is nausea-inducing.

Is this a new setting that can be turned off?

Yeah it is really weird, tried the new dungeons and the third and first person view changed so often it made it a bit hard to fight.

I haven't found any setting that would explain this behaviour so I dearly hope it's a bug and that they have a hotfix implemented ASAP, because it is like you said, nauseating, to put it mildly.

Yeah, had a look into the camera settings but can't seem to find what is causing this.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Kevin could you have a look into this please? Would be very much appreciated ☺️

In the bug forum, someone said it’s only happening to them on wood elves. What races are y’all experiencing it on? Maybe go put in your 2 cents on the bug post. But creating a new bug post may be best.

Anyone knows where to upload a video of the issue to share?

    It's very jarring.

It is not an addon, i just tested this with all my addons turned off.

Also, it doesn't seem to be happening to everyone. No one in my guild seems to be having this happen, or I'm not describing it well enough to them.

Going to try to record it.

I've only noticed it on my wood elf. I thought it was specific to where he was standing (one of those narrow dark elf houses).

I can confirm it's not happening to my imperial in the Alinor bank. The camera zooms in close when it goes past a pillar but doesn't go into first person.

    Same here.

I tank so I'm well aware of forced first-person if you're up against a wall. It really looks like the boundary for 'camera is too far back so go into first person' got shoved a lot farther back than it used to be, so things that don't normally mess with you are doing so now.

Tried to look at size - looks like it puts the camera in forced first with something closer than 7 meters behind you.

Standing between these walls in a delve, and this is the first place that I was able to see in 3rd again. One AoE is Cinder Storm (5m), the other is Caltrops (10 m)
    vyrur8gu4up5.png
    mnmhrgk6dsea.png

And as I tabbed out to write this, another thing happened - it fixed itself. Now I can get right up against the wall and stay in 3rd. And as I tabbed back out to add that note, now it's bugged again.

Moar testing: Seems that going top-down and zooming all the way out gets it to work okay. It's just weird if you're not at max distance. At max, the camera runs down the wall properly. When zoomed in a bit, the camera clips into the wall and forced first person.

When zoomed all the way out and then moving down the wall (character facing the wall, but camera pointed out):

When zoomed to a normal distance and then moving to the same position. Character did not move:

    @ZOS_GinaBruno Here's some more info:

Oddly enough, this doesn't happen on every character! The video above was on my Dark elf templar.

Every other character I have logged in, on two different accounts, does not experience this bug. Of course, my Templar is my main and the one I want to play...

Anyway, here's a screenshot of my argonian standing in the same spot where the light pole affected my dark elf in the video above. All settings are the same for both characters, and they are on the same account:

    5gumd0ojhhxg.png

Some more info: I have field of view set to max for both first and third person, but changing it does not fix the bug.

My Templar (the buggy one) is my main, the one with the most achievements, dungeons complete, trials run, trifectas achieved, things collected, etc. I have no ide how this could ever be connected to database issues, but who knows, coding is weird.

@tomofhyrule could you try on other characters? I know some of us are leery of logging into alts right now, so i understand if not. Just trying to figure out what's going on here. (I did QA for games in a much younger life)

Thanks! Yeah, this is a tough one to repro. Have you tried disabling all your addons and see if that changes anything?

Happening to me as well, on an orc.

What's happening is that when the camera hits collision, it's zooming in by so-many steps. If you are zoomed out enough, it just zooms in. If you're zoomed in about midway, it's close enough that the steps take you to 1st person view. Mounts cannot use 1st person view, so it instead zooms in as close as it can.

Makes the game unplayable though. :/ Hope it's fixed soon.

This out of date Addon fixed the camera problem for me: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info2236-NTakCamera.html

At least until ZOS fixes it this will do. I just tested it on a world boss and a dozen or so various mobs and no issues with the camera.

Good luck with your use of it.
