Creepiest place in ESO

I only remember one true jump-scare moment for me, and it was the first time I saw a Hunger in Vvardenfell. And the creepiest place is probably The Gorge, accessed via the quest "The Taste of Fear" in Cey-Tarn Keep, Summerset. *shudders*

    Zenithar's Abbey honestly.

It was the one notable location in Blackwood I can say that looked fantastic. It wasn't just creepy, but it was also a rare case of great environmental story-telling we don't see often in ESO. The horror was in unraveling the history and finding out how it devolved from such a beacon of prosperity into a pit of corruption, greed, and death.

Does that quest in Grahtwood with the cursed amulet still have it talking to you? “The eyes of your victims see your sins!” “You should be the one to die!

I recall they ‘fixed’ it to make the amulet stop talking years ago and am unclear if they un-‘fixed’ it.

The everfull flagon is my favorite. It's not creepy in a normal creepy way (it's actually kinda humorous) but the psychological elements of that quest line and that place were great and had a very dark and spooky edge. As someone who struggled with alcoholism it really popped for me.

Really all of coldharbor I loved the vibes, and everfull flagon was the epicenter of that love.

I generally don't like never ending dark mazes inside closed spaces. So, some delves and dungeons would quality, but if I have to select one place, that would be Coldharbour. I feel unwell in the coldness of this bicolor world black/ice blue, that gives an oppressive ambience of emptiness.

-The Nighthollow clan castle in Arkthzand Caverns, I found the voices of the vampires so creepy that I had to turn the volume down every time I went there for one of the daily quest.

-The delve in CWC with the people lying on the somnolostations being harvested for the crops.

-The Murkmire delve with the voriplasms, because of the voriplasms, I hate the voriplasms :grimace:

-The Castle Thorn room with the Wraith of crows boss and the things hanging from the ceiling.

-The last boss in Vateshran Hollows, her cries and voice acting is hair rising.

-A scene I happened upon in the Deadlands: I saw a deadroth and a scamp I couldn't target and while I was trying to figure out why, the daedroth grabbed the scamp and ripped its head off and threw it away.

Starter quest. You understand that someone killed your character and you can "enjoy" Coldharbour atmosphere.

Animals in cages somewhere in Gold Coast. I remember delve boss and these creepy cages. Cruel.

Sewers off course. Everything so... wrong there. Especially when you moving fast and baaaam... walking mini boss with flag.

Public dungeon in Reapers March. Ugly place.

Final location from "Empty Nest" quest in Murkmire. Very sad.

Dead Watcher in terrarium from Fargrave. Maby he's daedric creature, but still... why zos love trapped creatures I don't understand. Also weird crawling monsters on Fargrave towers.

    Few places in Rivenspire.
Sneaking crazy man around Crypt of Hearts entrance for example. He said something about screams in thise area. (Yes, I'm talking with all npcs In ESO)

    Coldharbour, Deadlands, Dread Cellar

Bot trains in starter zones. Creepy fact: Bots destroyed ESO economy, but nobody cares.

Maby something else, but I don't remember.

Maebroogha the Void Lich by far. The way she contorts her body is genuinely creepy.

Honorable mention goes to Vaduroth boss in Castle Thorn with the many bodies hanging off hooks from the ceiling.

I can’t say anything in the game has been really creepy to me, but I can think of at least one startling thing.

I happened upon a scene in Blackwood where an Argonian talks his buddy into drinking a bunch of hist sap or something, the result was surprising to say the least.

I also noticed when fishing in Rivenspire today that every now and then an eerie moaning sound could be heard. I have never noticed it before but haven’t stood in one place for that long before.

Yeah, when I first started doing the sewers, that sound the wandering flag bosses make always got my heart rate up a bit. And add that to the fact that it’s all one big maze that you don’t know at first, plus the fact that you can turn any corner and get wrecked by enemy players in an instant, and also that dying has a real price there that makes it a pretty intimidating place until you learn your way around.

As a location, the only one that I find somewhat unsettling is the IC sewers, the surface not so much, but the cramped spaces of the sewers, alongside the color scheme just make me feel uneasy. I think the one AD nightblade somehow hiding in front of your base and ganking you also contributes.

As a moment, and this is really REALLY dumb, I got a bit creeped out by the boss of the Pariah Catacombs when I first saw him. And it's definitely not supposed to be a scary boss, I mean, he's a big ol' skeleton named "Uncle Bones"; but just the scene of this hunched over skeleton nibbling on a corpse in an unnatural stance, with the dim lighting of the tomb (I usually play with ReShade on when I do solo/questing stuff, can't remember the preset I was using though) at the end of a delve which, if I remember correctly, has only goblins in it, kinda got me for some reason. It wasn't like a jumpscare moment, but it was just unexpected.

Yeah, Hungers have scared me since they appeared in TES III: Morrowind, mostly because they could easily destroy your armor and weapons in that game. The Gorge had a Stranger Things vibe to it, kind of like Lovecraftian horror. I wish they would tap into that genre of horror more often.
