Its really a let down when I see a new pet and see they don't blink their eyes, I end up not buying them. Right now I only use mounts who blink their eyes or those that don't need to blink such as the skeletal horse.
How come there are so many pets with no eye blink but some do?

The animators seem to think ESO gamers want to play a cartoon, which is fantastic in games with a more toony style. But it looks awful, distracting, and again, unnatural in ESO. And I say this as someone who adores cartoons and cartoony games. Like, I bought the Cheerful personality because I was tired of my characters' faces looking grim and flat. But I ended up retiring it very quickly because the facial animations for it are so totally unrealistic and exaggerated they're disturbing to watch. Instead of Cheerful, I got Deranged Cartoon Serial Killer. I don't buy personalities anymore.
I wonder if it's related to the fact that the game did originally have a more cartoony art style, similar to WoW (but not quite as exaggerated). It was changed long before release, shortly after Skyrim came out and was so popular (because the developers knew their audience would expect a similar style) but I imagine the engine and a lot of the underlying mechanics pre-date the change in art style..
