What do you think about the upcoming "decon" assistant?

One of the things that I like with the new chapter, besides the Breton theme, is this new assistant who helps with deconstructing items.
For many people this is a time saver, and helps a lot with inventory.

However, one of the reasons I kept visiting my houses (at least my main) was the crafting area where I could quickly deconstruct the stuff I got from quests or adventuring.
I know that none is forcing me to buy this assistant, but once it is in the game convenience always prevails, so there will be one reason less to use the houses. It also begs the question, what are houses for after so many updates? There are no mini-games to play in a house, no fishing, no daily resource nodes, no teleports, no traps, no vehicles etc.

I also feel there are too many assistants now, and they still lack the features most people need, repair and guild bank(s). I wish there was a way to upgrade an assistant with more services rather than having to buy extra NPCs. I would love if this deconstruction NPC would serve as a daily writs quest giver, both start and finish the quests. That would be worth 5k crowns.

Convenient I guess if you run ESO plus all the time. I run it off and on and have chests in my house to stack all that decon, eh, stuff - so no interest.

It feels like a cash grab I'm afraid.

I won't be buying it, I keep an eye on my inventory and make sure I have plenty of space at the start of the evening. If I have to I sell stuff or bank stuff during my playtime and occasionally jump back to my house to decon.

And thats what I'll continue to do unless the new assistant is free to those of us that are master crafters.

There are too many assistants for my quickslots. At some point, I will lose interest, not because the assistant itself isn't useful, but because it's not worth the hassle to quickslot it just to use it.

Oddly enough, I was more interested in it for my house. I can park them right by the door and have 5 decon stations in one easy convenient place.

I'd much rather have one assistant that has options added to their interface such as vendor, bank, fence, decon, armory, etc. as I acquire them. That ship has likely sailed though. If they are inconvenient enough to use, they aren't convenient enough to buy.

I like the idea of being able to decon things on the fly. I just wish they had added this functionality to the merchant assistants we have. I would’ve even paid just for the ability to be added to the merchant versus having another assistant to not have a quickslot for.

I won’t get it probably. I sell way more gear pieces than I do deconstruct, and I never use my merchant.

As the new zone crafting areas are typically not laid out well. Yes, Summerset and Vivec are good, but not the latter chapters considering wayshrines etc. And, since those new places are where i spend my time, i find myself porting back to my house to decon, even after turning is dailies.

So, long story short, getting the deconner.

Definitely gonna be super useful to have ~ (Especially compared to the numerous amount of Bankers and Merchants available in the Crown Store..)
...And I'm impressed to see it's a Bosmer.

For me:

I have no need to be able to do this out in the world, i can sell off most of the junk and all the cheap (green) items to my merchant or any of the many wandering ones. With the amount of bag space i have and fast access to port home if need, this one isn't of interest to me. In home as a guest/assistant i can do all this at my stations, so again no real draw for me.

Plus for me, for what they offer, they are too pricey. A quick port home i can do all of what i need and for a 131gp port to the closest wayshrine i was near, I'm back to where i was.

PLUS once more, with the number of bankers, merchants, assistants, house-guests, companions, etc and all the more they keep adding, without upping the limit in home, most of these new additions i wont have interest in buying. I like putting them out in my home but I'm at my limit already.

New assistant sounds useful, but will probably be overpriced. I will also second the complaints that all these assistants are taking up all the quick slots - banker, merchant, armorer, fence, companion, and now decon? At this rate there won’t be space for potions. At least give us more quick slots?

I'll probably pass. I am already at the point where I only decon jewelry and purple quality armor and weapons. I sell the rest to a merchant or trader.

And even if I were to decon it all, I would just toss it into my bank until I went back to town to decon. The set collection system really opened up my storage space to make this assistant very unnecessary.

I'd be game for some sort of super assistant that can provide the services of all of the assistants on your account. One stop shop for it all would be great.

Very excited to get this! Managing inventory space is a huge challenge. Can’t do all 3 daily undaunted without running out of space. I like to decon for mats.
It would be good if when you owned the merchant, banker, armoured and deconner if they could share the function so you only need one slot for them.

Haven’t seen anything about it until this thread, but it would be much more useful to me than a banker or merchant, since I decon more stuff than I sell or put in the bank. However, if it costs crowns I won’t get it. I will just travel to a town where I can decon stuff.

Leyawiin's crafting area is placed more conveniently that Summerset's, which is a bit far from the wayshrine, and the bank is also not near. The best is Vivec, because you have the banker's outside, but it does not have a dye station (yeah, I know, not many people care, but sometimes I like to mess with it if it's next to me).

The idea of this assistant is nice, but as most people have said, I agree the devs should have considered some kind of upgrade of the existing assistants. There are plenty of NPCs, the houses tend to feel like villages now

Very convenient, very useful probably 5k crowns, best case 3k.

If the upcoming assistant will cost 1000 crowns, I might buy it (just for the functionality, cause I'm not in love with this assistant's look). For more crowns - absolutely no; there is usually a town or a set crafting station nearby when I'm adventuring

When I'm in public dungeon (so no crafting stations nearby), I always come prepared with my inventory space. Of course, having a merchant and banker is a must, so the only reason I leave the place is when my mob grind there is over.

In Imperial City however, mobs drop lot of purple-quality loot. This often makes me return to the base. Deconstruction assistant would be awesome thing to have there, but sadly assistants don't work in PvP areas

And, as for housing part: I can only spare furniture slots for Merchant and Banker. Other slots are only for mounts and pets.
I also have all crafting stations near the entrance. I would replace stations with Deconstruction Assistant only if:

1) there would be much more slots for special collectibles (or if assistans were in normal furniture category)
+
2) assistant would cost no more than 1000 crowns

I have a banker and a merchant, and almost always have ESO plus running. Between these three things, I never run out of workable space. With that in mind, I will still be deconning back in civilization.

I really love housing, but I never really thought to use my houses as a decon location, to be honest. I use my houses for storage, to admire (I love decorating), using the transmute station, or using the house itself as a warp point.

It is a great idea because it offers some convenience to those who want it, especially those who carry a lot of stuff to start with.

Glad they are adding it. Will happily pony up the crowns. Well, actually finally have something to spend crowns on.

For me, its unnecessary, its not hard to travel to one of my homes or to a station near by to decon.

People leaving dungeons or trials to decon can be very disruptive--this will help a TON with keeping groups together, especially for multiple runs in a row.

It's also way easier having all the crafts merged together into a single list. There are lots of situations currently where I vend items instead of deconning, and that will change with this assistant.

i really like the idea of the decon assistant, ive hated vendoring stuff to the merchant assistant when i was grinding in public dungeons and would prefer the mats

i personally dont quick slot any of the assistants, i just use them from the collection menu, finish what i need and then put them away

Not sure it makes sense for me. I want alts parked in vivec city to decon rings and runes. I don't really decon other things any more as my 18 characters are 50 in those and I have a ton of mats. Perhaps I'll get it.

I am for any new assistants. After getting the armorer and 1 more slot for main, I am still on 40k crowns from subbing. This would have been more useful though before all my alts hit level 50. Most haven't left Vivec City since then, so they are always by the crafting tables.

If I am going to decon in the wild, I'll want the decon Champion buff, which my main doesn't have points in. I don't have points to spare due to only now returning to the game since early spring of 2021.

I wish I could quickslot an Assistant/Companion menu, it would be an extra action, but would still be faster than digging for them in collections.

As far as the assistant goes, it is interesting and can be useful, feels like I am constantly running out of bag space. Not sure if I will get it.

Does she fillet fish? Because if she did then it would be a day purchase for me beyond that then nope not getting her. Since I have bag/bank space maxed out and only decon on one of my characters that have the decon CP unlocked.

For anyone who's used this NPC for a considerable amount of time with new update:

Can you confirm if the items and item quality you get from this NPC service is same as that for your level 50 Smith/Woodcraft/cloth skill? Especially if you've got the Meticulous Disassembly perk maxed and slotted in the Craft/Stealth CP constellation?

If the item quality/value you receive from this NPCs services doesn't at least match what my master craftsman toon has on regular servers, then this service is going to be a complete waste of time and resources.....
