I can confirm that, indeed, the bug mentioned in those discussions was actually fixed.
I hope that, in the face of so many heartfelt requests from the players, sooner or later we can also obtain measures to satisfy them on the need to be able to silence the voice of their own characters.

I wish.... I HATE character voice in games. Of course I also hate VA overall....

I also want this option. I guess it might be the skills I use but one of my characters is just constantly grunting, yelling and generally being obnoxious in battle. Which I guess is a valid tactic.

I'm so thankful that I finally know the goose-honk voice choice is female Redguard Voice C.

Pls @ZOS_GinaBruno let us mute our character during fighting. It's so simple, and it would make the difference. A better in-game life sometime is easy to achieve. Please listen to us !

When this option gets added, please also add an option to disable the Blade of Woe killing sounds. It can be quite disturbing in towns. I made a thread about this previously here. Thank you!

I wouldn't mind the character voices if they actually sounded even remotely Human, or Elven, or Orcish, etc.. But most of them just sound like wounded animals.

i recently posted to Zenimax about a similar type of topic in another 'dev tracker' thread, which actually got a short response from them, so perhaps there's some hope soon for some options. (that aren't 3rd party add-ons)

For me, as mentioned in the post ^ , it's more during quest dialogs that irk me, since while i def. appreciate all the hours upon hours of voice-acting work (and money) put into the game , i also tend to read the text wayyyy faster than most of the NPC's talk it , but just speed-clicking ahead the answer choices everytime before the NPC finishes isn't very immersive imo.

i don't really feel like i hear my own character's voice or sounds very often though tbqh ...except when i fall off a cliff

Character voices are never what I consider my characters to sound like. There needs to be a toggle. Some people are fine with their character(s) VA; I'm not. I have a very deep, intense, logical (for me) visceral reaction to the way my characters (all 60+ of them) sound when they "speak" - and NOTHING about the VA for characters in this game comes anywhere near what I should hear....

Toggle. I don't want to hear the stuff I have to hear. If not a toggle then give me the ability to shut it off completely.

I solved the problem by purchasing Appearance Change Token (with a cost of 750 crowns instead of 1000) and changing the voice (there was NO option to have NO voice and I chose the one I liked best).

I took the opportunity to also make a restyling of the appearance!

Commenting on this old thread because it's still relevant: As you pointed out there have been a lot of requests to mute our own voices and/or personalities. The old Scholar personality would have been great for the Arcanist, but as others said years ago, the whimpering sounds it makes are annoying.

additionally, templars using jabs and weaving have to hear their character grunting a lot (and watching the spear do a weird animation) and was a common complaint

Odd you can do this on console for I recall it correctly. You just disable npc voices in audio and it also should mute the player character voices.
