Why is there not a mute player option? ( console )

aConsoleCouple
I'm in Area chat, and I have been since I got on the game. And all I have heard from people, is music, people screaming, people singing, people being rude, people doing stupid sounds because someone else's mic is echoing, other people games coming through thier mic or kinect etc

Now I understand I can click their name and open their gamercard and do it that way but that doesn't seem to want to workall the time either as all I get is can't load this persons gamercard.

Is there any way to actually mute an individual person in game without having to leave the area channel? Or if not could you please consider adding one as this is more immersion breaking than any text chat ever could be. Please and thankyou

There is, in the options near the very bottom there's "player voices" turn it all the way down and you won't hear a thing. Or you can leave the area chat under social.

Edit: Sorry, didn't notice the part about individual person. Outta luck I'm afraid.

An option to mute a single player would be great. I'm still very open to explore how this voice chat system might improve the game's social experience over time, so I'd rather not leave area chat completely. However, it's becoming a more viable option when I'm repeatedly hearing the n-word and listening to people with voice activated mics munching on potato chips.

@Tre_775 Yeah, I've met some nice people on it so far who have also joined my guild, but in my experience so far they are in the few compared to the amount of people who are deriving more fun from annoying people than they are from playing the game.

I was all for having a text chat and I still am, but the voice chat is good as long as they add an option to individually mute a player and maybe an option to expand the range in which you can hear people ( Don't know if that's possible but I hate having to chase after people I'm having a conversation with haha )

Seems there is an issue with the gamer tags and what not getting synced and imported. It might be a day or two before you can start to ignore those you don't want. If this is related to that issue.

At least out in the world there will be less around for you to listen to, but in the cities, it's going be noisy.

This is what I am referring too:
    Hi folks,

We posted this in another thread about the same issue, but it's worth sharing again here.

This is an issue we're actively looking into. What we know so far is this seems to be impacting those who are adding existing friends from either Xbox Live or PlayStation Network to the in-game friends list. Here are a few additional details that may help:
    • Only friends who have logged into the same ESOTU console server as you will show up on your in-game friends list.
    • The sync between the Xbox Live and PSN friends lists and ESOTU can take several hours to fully populate.
    • On Xbox One, you must be mutual friends with someone, meaning you need to be following them, and they must be following you in order for them to show up on your in-game friends list in ESOTU.

True there are many great people out there; in a mutually respectful environment it's an awesome concept and definitely worth developing. Just like text chat in any MMO however, the option to block trolls, spammers, etc. is necessary to have the advantages of the system while retaining your sanity. I support having both systems as well, by the way.

Not to derail the topic, but I've read that guilds will have access to multiple voice channels based on their size. Have you experienced any of these?

The distance issue definitely is a bit too close to IRL haha!

@Tre_775 I've only got like 11 members right now so I only have the channel for officers and the 1 channel for members but it does look like it will give you more because the member channel is labelled as number 1.
