Overland Content Feedback Thread

    My overland questing build is naked with two level 1 daggers, the wild hunt ring, no combat CP, and a personal rule of 1 burst heal and no hots. It brings some of the fun back from the early days, but even then there are only a couple boss fights I can think of where I actually feel like I might die, which makes a lot of the content tedious rather than challenging. It at least feels like I'm playing a game again and not watching a movie with all the fight scenes cut out.

    That is great to know you found a way to enjoy the game...

    Imagine going into a vet trail and not having all the right builds and skills and EQ ... it would be crazy...

    Same thing is needed if you become too strong for the content.

    I have a similar build, but to earn the a skill point I have to find a treasure map in the zone, each 3 lore books is 1 passive ... and so on

    Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

    I think for instanced gameplay (e.g. Solo instances with the main quest etc) a Veteran difficulty setting sounds good. But veteran overland or anything to that effect honestly sounds awful. Why would I want overland mobs to be sponges and do more damage?

    Combat would be longer but not more interesting and it would increase the annoyance of overland traveling, harvesting resources nodes, grinding lead drops etc. I'm glad they got rid of that stuff with One Tamriel I certainly don't want to see it back.

    We're asking for an optional difficulty setting, so it will not affect players like you.

    Also disappointed with lack of any words about vet overland.

    Guys, no one is forcing you to use it. You can keep playing current overland as long as you want. But pls, don't forget about players who want at least some difficulty immersive while questing.

    I remain sceptical that if ZOS does a vet overland, it will be optional. That's not really how they seem to handle things a lot any more.

    They already made a statement in April 2022 that there are no major changes planned for overland so I didn't expect that there would be with this announcement.

    But we don't know much about the continuous dungeons for us and a buddy. These will probably have difficulty levels like other dungeons and provide a way to have a more solo challenging experience. I wish they had revealed more about them.

    The thing is that they know more about them, and I am sure that most of this stuff is decided. They aren't going to up and cancel the feature and they know what their wiggle room is. They could tell us a lot. The only reason they don't tell us is... because.

    I won't be playing anything else until TES VI comes out, and assuming ESO is still around then, I be playing both, along with Skyrim and Oblivion as always. This is my game franchise; nothing else on the market appeals. I'm not really interested in MMOs other than this one, and the crop of new single player games out now isn't - any of it - to my taste or abilities.

    I did. I've moved to GW2 when I want to play an MMO. Haven't played ESO in ages.

    Right, because the new zone and it's dialogues are not important enough to implement risks and rewards. They are just part of Elder Scrolls franchise which solely requires your interest into the lore. Your skill does not matter, the outcome is basically not important and even better: Your character is not important too! The game just wants you to listen to some implemented audiobooks.

    The announced chapter and it's livestream proved to me that it was a good decision to switch to other games, since it also made me realize that I care too little about MMOs. And my sole interest for Elder Scrolls is not enough to justify or consume every kind of content about it ;-)

    Please, just give us a new potion, or food, or a mythic, anything---just something that significantly increases the amount of damage received. Something, anything, to tide us over. I just want to enjoy the new content. :s

    This isn't some weird flex "ooo, look how special i am, i can kill a delve boss!"
    I'm trying to demonstrate what playing overland is like at end game.

    It sucks.
    It's really bad.
    trash dies in 2 hits, bosses die in 4 or 5. they may as well not exist. Every quest is the same, it's literally just run over here, run over there with no actual gameplay involved.
    Way point, way point, way point, hand in quest.

    Honestly the most fun i had was the no gear, no cp, no attributes, no mundus, no food setup because at least i was playing the game again. But that sucks too because the entire build, gear, improvement thing is killed in sacrifice of trying desperately to make the game fun.

    This, 100 percent this. I remember starting the game on my argoninan nightblade a few years back when Brass Fortress was released. I played naked for 20 levels, and never even put a single point into my champion points, or my stats. Still could just walk through the game.

    This is honestly t his problem I have with this game atm. The new story looks fun, but the second i try doing it, it is so boring and monotonous , I log off or go to pvp after ten minutes. And then I just get pissed off at how laggy pvp is. Then I play ToT and either I destroy the other player, or vice versa because the game likes to absolutely leave one player behind and give them no good cards, or I get too many good cards.

    I honestly think the dev team needs a " fun " retreat, somwhere where they are tought how to make things for having fun again.

    Haven't completed despite purchasing last two chapters and few years dlcs because they feel so bland and pointless because overland is too easy. I am casual and can maybe get 15k on a combat dummy at my best.

    Don't loose hope friends, 2024 will be our year, keep fighting the good fight! They may deny it but we know that the most requested feature is the one and only feature that has a dedicated sticky in these forums!

    Don't spend much time doing overland content unless I'm farming or doing the occasional quest in which case, having it become 'difficult' would be annoying since I'm not trying to spend all day doing overland content. Overland is the easiest content because it's what every new player will face and it's where they learn their class. We had increased difficulty per zone back before One Tamriel and it was done away with because people complained about it not being 'open world' enough. Not in favor simply because it's overland which is the easiest content in the game ON PURPOSE. How about solo/two-man dungeons being difficult to extremely difficult? And not the Maelstrom/Vateshran type but more like ICP/CT/HRC.

    That doesnt really help those who find completing the stories in a chapter or dlc too easy though, which is why it would be good for an optional setting. I like questing but even naked its beyond easy.

    I mean, the forums are there to bring up things we observe and like / dislike, and to discuss. Since one tamriel, the constant dumbing down of overland content has been a glaring issue. So no, its not just because the many threads. It is by far the most asked for feature at this point.

    The story and chapters should be memorable. As is common with most mmos or rpgs, but with this game its just npc number 4445 with 15 skills we couldnt even see because we killed the bosses in 4 seconds and all the " dangerous " npcs that the hero of a nation MUST do because no one else can do it, but we can do it in .4 seconds naked, are just honestly nothing worse than a sneeze.

    A simple alternate instance would work fine. We already have them, we already have the system in place to select veteran content for dungeons, we can simply have one more option for veteran overland. It wouldnt negatively effect anyone. People are simply being obstinate.

    Exactly. It was easy to buy the story that only an experienced hero could stop the dragon outbreak in Elsweyr, but that same story is framed that some random person with a rusty sword and maybe an armored pair of shoes is just as much a threat to an army of dragons. It's hard to take stories like that seriously when you know how much things are all being staged.

    I can understand people not wanting the random npc mobs to be uber difficult, totally reasonable. Some better AI, a little more health , and a bit more damage would suffice. The mini bosses, and bosses however. They should be up there with how Dosha was pre one tamriel.

    You should HAVE to practice to beat bosses. I have played the game numerous times through now, and I hardly can remember ANY memorable bosses, except Dosha, and thats because she used to be difficult. They dont have to be Dark Souls level of tedium, but at least let me remember the bosses, I want everything I did up until that point to have meaning, I dont want it to be so easy that I could , if not limited by pathing, just kick down the door to every boss and use an ulti and push em over. I will never forget my fight with Harkan in Skyrim, but I dont even remember the main bosses name, nor what skills they even used, or why they were even really a threat in Greymoor. And thats just sad.

    Truth is, as much as I'm with you on that, it isn't applicable to everyone. There is a large player count who are willing enough to do the content because being able to just jump in game and not worry about things is nice. Very simple combat encounters, so you aren't struggling to remember controls, npcs repeating simple information the player was 'just' given so if the player did the last part of the quest a month ago they won't be lost. Those things do have value, but since ZOS does have the tech already in place in the areas it could help, it'll hopefully be something they look into.

    But it does sap any sense of growth for those who seek more meaningful engagement when the whole world is so simplistic, the world that likely drew many of them to the game in the first place and through its simplicity and no alternatives drove them away. It would be nice to go back and do those years of content that I've skipped, while you managed to fight that boss I only ran across him the first time and thought him a lesser npc on the enemies side, not a year-long story driving threat. But I don't want to spoil my first time interacting with things that won't be memorable, so this year's story I'll skip as well, though the Q4 dungeon thing has my interest.

    Necrom looks really cool aesthetically and the story sounds very interesting. However, it is hard to be excited for a “world ending” threat when every single boss is going to be defeated with a few swings of my hammer.

    I won't buy it, I won't play it.

    I can get more immersion from movies and I can get fun and engagement from other games.

    No way I'm running all that boring content just to play another class.

    If they just introduced some optional difficulty we could of all had a happy time.

    They just want to make content for whales, story followers and new players.

    Devs had an opportunity to re-engage their disenfranchised pvp and vet-players and they missed the mark.

    Guys they just don't care and let's face it probably never will.
    At least the spelling is difficult for you.
