So when the update launches, Arx Corinium will crash under the weight of everyone going to collect their medusa fire staves?

No - because Medusa will no longer be useful for most builds from that day due to the other PTS changes. The win by nothing but crit stacking meta is on the way out (thankfully). More likely everyone will be running things like Frostvault, and unless they fix the problem with Bahsei now being usable on all the stam toons (where you can keep your magicka artificially low), Rockgrove.

So they day you get your inferno staff will be the day you no longer need it.

Any ideas on what might replace the crit stacking meta?

It’s definitely something to look forward to. My understanding is that this doesn’t apply to undaunted shoulder pieces though, which is unfortunate as that’s what I’ve been struggling with the past week. :(

Nothing. Crit stacking will no longer be as good dps source as before. You will need to transfer some part of sets and CP to dmg.

This is the disaster of ESO, soon or later the trials will be empty, really, give me a reason as you
have all the pieces of the sets to go again there in..... to do what?

It will still take a considerable number of runs to get everything and at least at first MORE people might be doing trials in order to polish up their collections. I stopped doing normals myself unless my guild needs them (we do at least one a week) and I don't think my participation in any vet trial is going to change because of the sets. By the time I finish up perfected items I'll be long sick of the trials available.

Do you only do trials to get gear? I do several a week purely for the fun of doing trials.

Well, if you doing trials only for the equipment, you are doing it for a wrong reason. Trial as name indicate, should be a challenge to your skills, not the grinding abilities.

Tbh. I had no interest in this set... but it will be a decent stamina set now too.... So I guess I will farm it too ;)

    Edit:
Btw. There is something I fear. Since RNG will be for the most part gone from the set farming, and we will be guaranteed to gear set we want after X amount of runs... this still does not apply to treasure chests & reward boxes. For example - a lot of Cyrodiil sets and some Hew's Bane sets are exclusive to reward boxes - and those will still be RNG based.

I simply fear that it may encourage ZOS to put bests sets in quest reward boxes...

Crit stacking will still be fine outside of super optimized raids

So the last nail into RNG complaints with this one, drops would be adjusted according to what you already collected so no more 10 resto staves in a row for some of ya. Just making sure people are informed about something good nowadays.

yeah great, it drops a set piece CP160 with "training" trait.

"welp, you have that piece now so you don't need any more of them right?"

So you transmute or reconstruct it?

Anyone on PC NA up for some vDSA runs when the server goes live 1000000000000 hours from now? I still need my perfected Master's Ice Staff.

"welp, you have that piece now so you don't need any more of them right?"

Once you've gotten everything in a set the RNG reverts back to random, so it might take more farming to get a piece in your desired trait but in the process you're filling in your missing pieces which will decrease the reconstruction cost. Or transmute it, although that costs more crystals.

I don't know about you, but I am absolutely overflowing with transmute crystals. I'm almost at cap (1000, because I have ESO+) and I also have an entire 60 slot coffer in my house full of reconstructed Hats of Frostbite, which would give me another 1500 crystals if I deconstructed them. I run random dungeons sometimes but don't grind them and I don't PvP outside of Midyear Mayhem yet crystals have still proven incredibly abundant.
PC NA, CP2200+. Character creation is the true endgame.

oh my, i hope you're right.

i would not mind at all. a gear cap increase is way overdue.
with a less frustrating grind- where you can reasonably see the end in sight- it might even be fun to grind for new gear.

congrats ZOS, you surprised everybody by doing what no other MMO has dared.
you're alright in my book now.

alright enough that i returned from a break i thought was final.

But stamina toons already had Tzogvin's which gives penetration, minor force, potentially more crit, and its medium armor not heavy. I guess if you don't want to worry about the procing the stacks, you can use Medusa. Although Tzogvin's uptime is pretty high.

The weighted RNG only offers a BETTER chance of getting something you don't already have. It does not GUARANTEE you will get something you don't already have.

In other words, there's still RNG, it's just friendlier towards you.

Actually, this is not true. The "weighting" is 100% on something that is not in your sticker book.

Really? I apologize. I just read the patch notes:

"Bosses and reward chests from arenas and incursions will now preferentially drop set items that have not yet been unlocked in your Item Set Collections!

Most bosses in the game, along with reward chests from arenas and incursions, will now preferentially drop set items that have not yet been unlocked in your Item Set Collections. These sources will only drop the set items that they can normally drop; the ways to acquire a particular item are unchanged, but it should be much easier to find items that you have not yet unlocked.

Set items looted from treasure chests, containers, or from non-boss monsters are generally not curated in this manner."

To me, "preferential" doesn't sound like it's guaranteed, just more likely. The definition of preference is that you show a bias towards one, but do not necessarily neglect the other.

But I could be wrong and they messed up the patch and meant for it to be 100% guaranteed. I do know that it should not affect treasure chests.

All the bosses still drop only their respective item types they used to drop, i.e. minor bosses only drop boots and belts, big non-final bosses chest, legs and whatever else, and only final boss drops jewelry or weapons.

Now here is a thing. Even with curated drops, last boss first rolls Jewelry or Weapons, regardless if you have all the jewelry collected, and only then looks for items you are missing in that category.

So fixed numbers of runs was a lie. You might still get 10 rings in a row and no uncollected weapons.

No information about named gear pieces yet, if they can overwrite any priorities etc.

In that case it doesn’t seem to be working properly. Ran through the public dungeon in Deshaan on one account and indeed only got items that were missing from stickerbook.

Ran through it on another account with more open spots in stickerbook and got an item I already had.

It should not be working in PDs at all if I recall correctly. Only group dungeons, trials, arenas.
