My fps has increased from 40-45 to 60 in cities, but at the same time CPU usage has increased from 50-60% to stable 90-95%. I am not sure if it's healthy to play that way, so I am thinking of turning it off again.

Why would you not want to use all the power of your hardware? As long as you are not overclocking outside of your stock specs your CPU was made to run at that usage for a very long time. Like decades.

As long as you are not creating excess heat outside of spec there virtually is no difference in running at 60% or 90% when it comes to your CPU longevity.

Thank you again for this update. I was playign last night and stopped worrying about frame-rate and was able to just enjoy the world and activities.

I never did get around to messing with it, @Red_Feather @danno8 - was gone most of the last two days, and since it's now working correctly I'm assuming the hotfix did something. *shrug* I did unset read-only on usersettings.txt this morning, since it seems no one else had it set that way. I'm wondering if it's because I started with steam but then bought the game again from ZOS so I don't have to mess with steam - though I'm still using the original steam install, just starting the game with eso64.exe.

As long as it works.... if it ain't broke don't fix it! I am seeing smoothing in graphics and animations, and better FPS in Vivec and other cities - not huge gains as I think some of the FPS issue is on my end with satellite connection.

No thanks. It doesn't improve anything but for sure it is killing my computer with temperatures. And it's a machine able to handle most of newest games. GG

So if someone can explain in simple terms, does this feature allow to use the multiple cores in pc?
Because this was the selling point of modern pcs wasn't it? You run multiple cores so things are faster, smoother but ESO was working on single core?

    I turned it on

    Negative:
-Some freezes for milliseconds but only 2-3 times so not big deal
-Crashed 4 times with black screen

    Positive:
-Wow that loading screen, I used to do small chores between now I can't because so fast haha
-More stable FPS (but not increased because I was already capped at 60 before anyway)

Ps. I also felt like my pc was hotter yesterday but I don't know if it is because of this feature or the extreme heatwave we are going through, does this make pc heat up?

My GPU temp is up about 5 degrees from before, but since I'm running two 4k monitors now it might be that more than the threading.

LOVE the setting, it's working perfectly on my end so far and easily slapped 30-50 FPS on my regular performance.

Am I correct that enabling multi threading also unlocks the FPS cap (previously at 100)? I know it can be unlocked manually, but never tried. I was getting 160-180 FPS in Deshaan @ 3440x1440 (180hz GSync montor). Game looked really really good out in the open world.

I was having issues in VAS+2 yesterday with LAs and Synergies not firing correctly, but I will chalk that up to patch day blues.

Weird thing is I actually saw my frames go above 200 a few times. I have GSync enabled, and monitor refresh rate at 180. Never seen it go above 180 in other games (unless I OC my monitor to 200hz). VSync in game had no effect on this, it would go over whether or not I enabled it. I typically disable VSync when I am running GSync. Was seeing 200+ both on my NVidia overlay and the ingame /FPS.
Yes FPS is fully unlocked with this setting. I have a GSync monitor (144Hz) and my fps goes beyond that sometimes as well (GSync on, VSync off). I've limited in game fps to 150 via Votan's Advanced Settings addon. I was always using this addon to bypass the former 100fps cap.

    @LashanW
I will have to check out that addon as well. Definitely seeing a massive increase in frames (never unlocked FPS before), but I don't like my frames going above my refresh rate. I also turned up my graphics settings a bit, that is actually helping my frames stay in the sweet spot. My monitor is 180hz, but I often cap frames at 144 in other games. Seems to be a good balance of high frame rate and a number I can keep stable.

Yeah, I spoke too soon. On 3 different systems (i9/3080, i7/dual 760's, i5/3050 Ti laptop) I'm seeing a 30-40% increase in BOTH CPU and GPU usage (and that is just standing in Vivec doing nothing). While the FPS boost is nice, it doesn't warrant that kind of increase in power consumption. I turned it off.

    this line looks like:
    SET CONSOLE_ENHANCED_RENDER_QUALITY "1"
located in the middle of file, so in notepad pick "edit" next "find" and input RENDER_THREAD

    It helped, thanks

I don`t know about crashes(haven`t played much yet) but I`ve got strong fps boost by ~80%. CPU i9-9900K. Finally ZOS did something with optimization.

I turned it on but soon after my character was locked in certain movements, for eg., I couldn't move left, so I moved in a weird diagonal way, as when the joystick on the controller (I'm on gamepad) was stuck. I don't know if it was attributed to this, or a weird coincidence, but after a turned it off, I had no more movement issues. I will try it again though at some point, hearing encouraging comments, and it's still in beta.

Fantastic performance increase! I play on a 13 year old machine and I was afraid I'd just have to bite the bullet and build a new rig if I want to keep playing. This setting makes the game so much more fun without having to spend thousands of dollars/euros on a new machine.

My multithread setting keeps resetting to off every time I launch game, is this normal?

Edit: nevermind, looks like my settings file did not get updated with new settings. Copied new stuff manually from PTS file like a nerd I am.

Might be a coincidence or perhaps the new feature doesn't go well with my potato GPU but I've got an increased number of screen freezing (everything static, while sounds and skills still work fine) with the feature enabled.

For some reason every time I try to toggle it on and restart my game the setting is toggled off. When I try to turn it on in user settings documents it's not there for me to turn on. I tried repairing the game, but would it be better if I did a clean install of the game?

Your problem is, that your Documents folder is protected against changes by eso64.exe.
Check your anti virus settings. Is there an exception rule for ESO and/or the Elder Scrolls folder?

    You mean Hyper-Threading. No.
Hyper-Threading doubles the virtual number of cores threads can be spread over. But even with Hyper-Threading disabled, the overall usage of your CPU should increase with multi thread render enabled.

I just did that and was still unable to change the setting, I think I'll try reinstalling the game and hope for the best

No, it is as simple as adding one line to setting file:
    SET RENDER_THREAD "1"

However, the actual problem is AVAST antivirus blocking write access to setting file. To fix it, add C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live folder to exception list.

Thanks the setting is finally staying toggled on.
