Maintenance for the week of January 5:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 5
• NA megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)

This is why people keep complaining about the flaps.

Theoretically, if the gear was designed intentionally to have flaps and tassets a separate display item on the model then hiding that one layer would be possible.

If they weren't built using completely separate layers (all one piece of "cloth") the settings wouldn't work.

I'd hope at least a large number of designs kept the moving bits separate from the underlying bits just to make it easier to mod and recycle sections, leaving the possibility that the 'turn off ...' option could be made to work for at least those sets.

That's a FLAP???? It looks like an exaggerated codpiece to me, and entirely inappropriate on female characters. Very hard to find armour without it.
    Favourite NPC: Wine-For-All

The flaps look fine. It is a style thing and I want them to keep the flaps.

I part it is, Khajiit and Argonians don't have the back flap, now the issue is probably that this has to be transmitted as part of your character but this has been expanded many times, first with coloring, then with outfits and weapon color.
The client know if the player or npc is an Khajiit and know that is should not show back flap.

More fun Briarheart belt has an loincloth part. As I know its the only who has this and its from the reach winter style who is not an released style.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    I personally like the flaps.

Speaking of which, I absolutely hate that the latest armours have everything other than the back flaps. The Ancestral Imperial armour that NPCs use in Blackwood looks horrible without the back piece. And so does the pre-Order Dremora armour.

I mean, if you're going to remove something that ruins the aesthetic of the armour, might as well remove the others as well.

    I want a toggle on/off flaps.

The following settings exist in the game, but are not hooked up to the settings interface...
    IN_WORLD_UI_SETTING_HIDE_LOIN_CLOTH
    IN_WORLD_UI_SETTING_HIDE_TASSETS

Unfortunately, these settings don't do anything (which is probably why they're not hooked up to the interface). But it gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, this might be something that they'll do at some unspecified point in the future.

I will admit when I'm wrong. It appears that all they would have to do then is just make a system that can turn them off. Another person mentioned how Khajiit and Argonians have hidden buttflaps that I completely forgot about, so there definitely is some kind of system in place, all they'd have to do is build a bit on it and make it a settings option. My long paragraph was based on an assumption and it turned out to be wrong. And now that I know I was wrong, I already have another idea of how that's possible. Different nodes or branches in the scene root that can be turned off or on depending on certain parameters in the game engine.

However, I think this toggle would hide he flaps for everyone in your game, not just yours, since each armor is a single file in the game and when the engine turns it off for you, it would turn it off for everyone, and that's probably why they haven't done it. People would complain that some people aren't seeing their meticulously crafted outfit the way they want it to be presented, or something similar. But they can just get over it lol

When will ZOS listen? Or notice? This is bad design and at this point it seems deliberate.

Since hiding helmets and horse armor is only player specific, I doubt that flaps and tassets would be worldwide.

Move all flaps to their corresponding waist slots. Some, obviously, have none. So keep the buckle only for those. Give people options.

That could probably work, they've done stuff like that before. Most notably moving the wing spikes from the Trinimac light shoulders and attaching them to the robe/jerkin piece.

The other "IN_WORLD_UI_SETTING_HIDE_" settings include ones to hide polymorph helmet and mount upgrades. And those affect only your character or mount.

Just as bad is the flap on the Dark Passions Regalia, which actually clips in tho the character's *legs* if said legs are over a certain size, and/or using certain Personalities.

    First, they're "groin protecters"
Second, you never know how much you need one until you either have one and it saves ur groin or you dont have one and ur groin gets shredded by shrapnel

So...I dont care how bad they look. My main will forever wear his groin saver, and eye pro. But not ear pro cause he wants that phat hearing loss disability check. Oh and throat protecters can bite it...

My favorite ESO armor meme is that back in the day they said it was too hard to add cloaks/capes into the game but here we are in 2021 and every single outfit has a *** cape.

I noticed them only a few weeks ago, when I was writing an addon to automatically change mount upgrade visibility settings; I am not sure how long they had been there.
