The "outrage" over maintenance makes me laugh. Settle down. Real world problems. I find such complaints to be comparable to a child stamping their feet & holding their breath while lying in the middle of the aisle in the supermarket. Get a grip.

It is not really that hard to understand. Many people play MMO's to get away from their RL and just relax. So when that is "taken away" even for a short time it is frustrating to people. Like everything in life, somethings that don't bother you is a trigger for others, and something you get jacked up about others will think you are being a whiny baby.

*shrug* As to your analogy, I have two sons with Autism, this is not even close to a melt down in public. I hope you never have to experience how far off you truly are :)

Sounds like addiction rather than just a way to cope with something when you put it like that tbh.

In the past I've had a ton of reasons and issues that would lead me to escape into a virtual world (constant abuse, family crisis, being unpopular or unwanted with people I had romantic interest in, publicly viewed as an idiot, bullied etc.) In time I was also completely addicted to gaming and spent half of my adult life blaming the world (while as an adult all these past traumas were no longer present), thinking of gaming as an only form of escape.

I found new ways to heal my mind. Like running, archery, book reading, meditation, swimming etc. It actually healed me so much that I changed from a depressed introverted loner gamer neckbeard to someone who has no problem being a social party animal. I still play videogames of course. But don't depend on them to "escape reality".

I'm not saying gaming is bad but to say something along the lines of "you took my lolipop so I'm going to cry now" is not a good sign of healthy relationship with gaming or anything at all for that matter. I feel like nowadays it's just too easy for people, especially us young people, to resort to unproductive things like gaming or social media to heal our mental wounds.

And that's the real problem here. It makes us weaker than we think.or rather we choose to stay weak thinking we're getting stronger.

Just sharing my opinion and experience 🙂 no bad intent or hate here. Be careful out there in the virtual world.
