Companion gear disappearing ?? There is a companion gear in the game?
I unlocked Miri on 3 of my characters and do daily quest on all 3 of them plus quests on my main since Blackwood came out and I haven't seen a single piece of companions gear drop...

But the silence and no attempts to make it right to your paying customers is going to make us paying customers to some other company.

Let's be honest. There is nothing out there like ESO, nothing.. Who exactly are you going to give your money too? If your talking about a completely different game then you most likely have already done it at some point. We all play different games, including the devs. Just saying.

Yeah their standard time for updates starts at 10a EDT either Monday or Tuesday. They only ever take it down during the day.

Probably for the best, although, they come with companion gear. If that is lost, then you have to buy or find replacements. Repeat, each time the companion gear is lost.

Pffft. This always happens after major updates. It's just part of the rollout.

On a more positive note, I think they did a fantastic job with the overland map this time. It's one of my favorites!

I worked on WOW from just after launch, about a year in Blackwing until Mists dropped... We NEVER has this much downtime.... sure stuff happens that were not caught during internal or PTS testing *gold exploits etc.... but yeah, ./rage Hopefully Microsoft will save the day or you can YouTube all the dead MMOs from the past 10 or so years to figure out why it all went wrong.

Funny, I played WoW from vanilla until Legion, and I remember frequent and quite long downtimes after major patches and expansions till Wrath... I was an admin and newswriter for a WoW fansite back then, and we suggested everyone not to plan to play much on patchdays, and on the next 1-2 days. At least in Europe.

To the topic... yes, it's rare for NA, but it was pretty frequent for EU. That's why I stopped paying for ESO+ 2 years ago, and didn't preorder the last 2 expansions...

I understand the frustration, I am pretty annoyed as well but if the game needs it then it needs it. Hell, today is the only day off I get a week and I can't play, but that's okay.

The problem with their testing is the people that go on it. They just go on to test rotations and see what the best builds will be, they don't actually test it for them.

Actually, the problem with a public test server is that it is public. It is a cheap watered down form of User Acceptance Testing. Real UAT requires a team of in-house individuals who are familiar with the product, who are given test scripts to follow, and who report their pass/fail findings to the project manager and/or development team. When you ask the PUBLIC to do your testing, that is a guaranteed fail.

It's not a guaranteed fail a player might actual produce usable data for them on accident. If they sent an email to every account that logs onto the server they might get better results. Better but not what they could get if they had a robust in house team of testers. What they should be using the PTS for is stress testing the program. Give everyone an incentive to log on to the PTS at a certain time and do a particular activity even non very dedicated players would do that. It would make sure to stress whatever they are trying to stress.

Actually, it is a guaranteed fail, because players are only given a presumed end-state product to play around with in PTS. They don't know anything about what to zero in on when testing. Only in-house QA and testers following scripts will zero in on a wide range of things: UI issues, compatibility with existing code, accuracy of math-related aspects, and so on. The players can't possibly cover everything that actually needs to be covered. They often don't even know if something is working as intended or is wonky and a possible bug.

Thing is.. For gear that is supposed to be rare, there is a ton of it on the guild vendors. I am assuming it will keep coming down in price, and what you can't find you will be able to buy.

I do feel they have to deal with these issues but really when I'm paying to play and the game down more then Im able to play this is a bit too much. It would be in ESO best interest to compensate us some how mount pet etc. I think that fair. I've also lost at least 2 companion items and haven't complain about it at all. So I feel something is needed here to quell the mass.

Just my 2 cents on the matter before us :)

I mean, the whole gaming industry believes that saying "game!" means they don't need to hire experienced QA professionals at a market rate. Nevermind test scripts, procedures, documentation. Automation, Stendarr forfend.

Or, possibly, too much automation and not enough eyeballs. Who knows.

I mean, does ZoS rely solely on the PTS for their entire UAT process? If so, that would be very foolish.

    ZOS has no UAT.

Um, okay...is that like some neat internal info you know about?

No.... what evidence does anyone have that ZOS has any manner of user acceptance test? PTS has nothing to do with user acceptance. It is about feedback and tuning. No one can "accept" or "reject" anything. ZOS has first party certification, but this is not a user acceptance test. Chapter previews are marketing events, not user acceptance tests. The class reps can find out what is coming, and they may get access to super secret stuff, but this seems to be to generate feedback, not approval.

I figured because it had the word "test" in it, you know...the public was testing stuff on that server.

Some are testing, some are learning the lie of the land so they can be the first to "win" when the content launches, and some are on the lookout for exploits they can use when the content launches. The rest are just playing the new content because it's new and they have the chance to do so - perhaps with no intention of actually buying it when they can "test" it for free.

Like I said it's possible to get some usable data but a dedicated team would guarantee it. Although I will concede that the likelihood of a test failure goes way up when no one is told what to test.

On top of that, this is not a first person shooter, nor is it a competitive tournament game, so things like internet latency can get much higher before it is considered something to fix.
