The limits stink but it is a challenge to do what you can within those limitations. Housing community has so many great ideas to make it even better.

Occasionally when I have time and gold.
I like housing in general but I prefer smaller and medium houses to gigantic spaces, as those are the only ones I ever bother to decorate, because gigantic spaces just take too long, require too much gold/Crowns and more decision-making than I want to do. I say this as someone who just spent 400k gold on plants from the luxury vendor just to decorate ONE house (the Coldharbour one) and the space still looks empty.

I wish there were more newer houses that are small and can be bought with gold, especially in DLC zones. I have never bought a Crowns-only house. Probably never will and I hope we'll be able to buy those houses via the endeavor system if ZOS doesn't ever relent and let us buy DLC housing with gold.

Also, I deeply resent that palm trees are all Crown store items and to my knowledge, cannot be acquired any other way. Little things like that kind of ruin the housing thing for me, so really I mostly use housing for crafting, storage, the house banks and porting.

Some palm trees can be bought for gold, example > https://eso.mmo-fashion.com/tree-towering-wax-palm/

I agree,I also wish they would add more small/medium size houses what could be bought with gold.Only one house per new zone what we could buy with gold is lame,in Northern or southern elsweyr there wasn't even any.

I love becoming part of the world of the game. I love, LOVE housing in particular. When I was playing Star Wars Galaxies, easily 80-90% of my playtime was spent driving around looking for a cool place to put a house, then decorating it. I spent most of my time IN those houses, crafting or decorating or what have you. Loved it.

I would love to do that here. Some of the houses in ESO look fantastic, but EVERY SINGLE ONE has one or more problem that makes me reluctant to get them.

There are a few houses that come close. The Ald Velothi Harbour House is great... but is in an awkward place. Grymhath's Woe is nice inside, has a seperate room for the bedroom, and even has a (sort of) balcony... but the balcony doesn't look out AT anything.

There are a few things I really want to see in an house. NONE of the houses in the game has all of them.

First, I like a good location. There's two possibilities, a nice house in a city or a quaint cottage in the wilds.
Second, I like a nice yard. It doesn't have to be huge, but a nice view is best. That means no obstructing walls.
Third, I like a nice interior layout. I like to have separate rooms that I can use for different purposes.
Fourth, I like an upstairs, preferably one that leads to...
Fifth, I like a nice balcony with a view. Ideally, this would extend into the real world of the game, so I can sit up there and watch people going by (as with Grymharth's Woe's "shelf").

    Some houses come close.

Lucky Cat Landing is awesome, but I dislike the location. The yard is FANTASTIC, with a spectacular view. The interior layout is brilliant, with separate rooms. It has a nice upstairs, and even a balcony, though it doesn't exist in the actual game world, it's still part of the isolated world of the house. So, it's CLOSE.

I dislike that the houses are isolated from the world of the game, their own separate instances. However, I understand why. I think what might help with this is if you were still in the chat channel of the relevant zone. So, for example, if I'm in Grymharth's Woe, I'll still be in the Eastmarch chat channel.

Some of the houses are really lonely. Some of them are actual CASTLES, and should have other people living in them. Places like the Daggerfall Overlook should have a staff; stableboys, kitchen staff, maid, butler, and so on.

Having said all that, I do have several houses in the game (I tend to get one for each of my characters, but one of them actually has several places he "lives."

Yes, it's one of my favourite game activities, I find it really enjoyable and creative. It's also a gold/crown/time sink, and it still has the problem of limited slot space for the size of a lot of the houses they've been releasing, but over the years we've gotten some really nice additions, like improved controls, structural furnishings, or items with animations, house guests, pathing... Overall quite happy with housing!

I like it, but wish it was more accessible to poorer players.

It's not fun telling players that, for example, many of the big houses cost 70+ USD

Yeah, the overall pricing in this game is geared toward whales. $70 is actually on the low end: The high end limited time houses start at around 14K crowns and that's $100 at regular price.
They're digital assets and once created it costs nothing to reproduce them so I've got to believe if the prices on houses, furniture and other amenities were more reasonable it would mean greater profits based on the sheer increase in the volume of sales that would result.

I have a really nice Hunding's Palace that I've spent a lot of time and money on and I love it but like nearly everyone who enjoys housing I get frustrated with the low item count. It's nearly impossible to use all of a property and make a house actually look lived in.

I was really excited about it when I first started, but it's lost its fun. Increasingly prohibitively expensive and grindy, the houses keep getting larger and the slots don't go up, and the furnishings themselves create the biggest inventory management nightmare. It's all a really big ask for something really lacking in functionality.

The inn room is fine since I refuse to pay real money for a house that should be given to the players like in all other MMO's. Funny I was thinking way back in EQ2 they gave you an inn room but later they added a second room and made the original inn room larger in an update. I guess zos makes a lot of money off of housing.

The large mansion homes need to have 1000 slots base and 1700 slots with the subscription. I don’t like how you cant fully kit them out with both in style and full services. I have whole room in the hall of the lunar champion that is mostly unused due to the 700 slot limit. I don’t see the point of them even making more of these large homes and adding them to the crown store. If I can’t fill out one with everything I want why I would buy another one?

Also zos needs to allow players to set the physics parameters on placed objects so you can do things like marking a surface as a ground type to allow ground based skills to function on it and properly paint the skill icon on the surface. And setting objects so players cant fall though or be knocked through them.

There needs to be lighting control to control the lighting distance and if the light source bleeds through objects or not. They also need to add in a way to make temporary scaffolding which doesn’t add to the slot count and only remains until players remove it or leave the house.

In the 2-3 years I’ve been playing, the only houses I have are the one they give you in a quest and the elsweyr one near the palace. All I have in that elsweyr house is the training dummy you put together for the clockwork city quest. I don’t know, maybe I just don’t get it?

I have several small and medium houses that I like the look of, but the only one I've decorated fully is the Alinor Townhouse - as a gallery/museum for art and trophies and statues, since it's bright and has good spaces - it's about the only house with clean walls where you can hang paintings

Housing is great in games, but in ESO it's too expensive. Some people like that this is endgame content, but I think some things are too hard to get or hidden behind a pay wall.

If I want to create a green torch, it costs 20 Heartwood, 20 flour, an eye and a frozen unicorn tear.

Vampire motifs are out of my range.

I've nearly full decorated my psijic villa, but after that I wouldn't torture myself again with another house.

I enjoy it. I think it helps that I prefer the smaller houses that actually look like houses over the massive sprawling weird ones, which means I've very rarely had to deal with the price of the crown exclusive ones. I was tempted to buy Forgemaster's Falls, but I'm glad I didn't because for my purposes the Antiquarian's Alpine Gallery is actually better and that was given away free in an event.

My favourite is still Mournoth Keep but I've got a few I use, in varying stages of completion.

I really like visiting other players homes too and seeing what they've done with them.

I find it too fiddlesome, and I don't really see the point since you can't interact with the furniture.
