Housing in this game is SO much fun and has the potential to be so much more with smaller changes. Like the slots gripe for larger houses is clearly a universal issue but I would have almost 150 more free slots in my largest home if I wasn’t using those on lights. It is a notable and the outdoors is the most fun to decorate but I had to make some tough choices between decorating and being able to see said decor which is totally goofy.

We also need a way to display unique armor and weapons in our home. Every other game I can think of has this, in some cases where housing is much less customizable it’s the only decor available hilariously enough.

My problem with housing is that other than using one for a guildhall, there is NO purpose to having a house in this game.

If you want a perfect housing structure, look to Everquest 2.

They had a global auction house, but you could travel directly to a player's house to save yourself the broker fees. It gave a person a real reason to visit your house.

You could craft and sell USEFUL things for your house - like storage containers and such.

I love the diversity of housing and furnishings in this game but they lack one KEY element - PURPOSE.

@iksde, I'm thinking of buying Daggerfall Overlook, but I have a question. While previewing it earlier today I noticed that it has a trap door that takes you to the water down below, which I hadn't noticed before. Do you know how far out it extends? One of the guilds I'm in built a large deck for the set-crafting stations, which extends out over the water by the entrance to the Grand Psijic Manor, and I was thinking of doing something similar with one of my houses. Do you know if the Daggerfall Overlook has enough usable space over the water to allow something like that?

I have to be in the mood for it. I've decorated 2.5 houses. The Flaming Nix is a Clockwork Embassy. Sleek Creek is a skooma den. Lucky Cat is half done.

I feel like it's evolution is moving a little too slowly.

I want housing to be less of a cool display too look at, and then leave, and more of a place to engage in activity.

I only use houses as teleports.
I own almost all the ones you can buy direct with gold and a few crown ones, have tried to decorate a few over the years.

Biggest hurdle to enjoying it for me is how spread out furniture acquisition is, all the different furniture and achievement furniture vendors all over the place, the number of furniture plans that are just not cost effective to actually make leading to a lot of items never appearing on traders, requiring you to hunt down the plans yourself, all too much of a headache aimed to make you go to the crown store instead.

That and my housing visitor permission list keeps deleting itself, given up on that.

Now my houses mostly exist for easy ways to teleport into zones, access storage chests or as furniture warehouses for all that bound furniture from leads that I wish I could sell.

The traditional limit should be increased, as well as I think special collectable limit. I think that is the group for pets, guests. I like how we can bring the home to life with NPC and way points so they walk around. Maybe we can give them custom scripts to talk to each other. I would really like to be able to change the spawn in point.

On a side note I have 17 or 18 homes which are mostly the studio apartments for fast travel. Travel inside/outside was a good change for fast travel reasons.

Love decorating houses, though I hate the pricing of the crown only homes & I say far too much furnishing space is annoying. I would love to have more pets/mounts in the homes, it just seems so limited.

I'd like to be able to change the size on furnishings.

I'd like some WATER features...ponds, rivers, streams

AND since we are limited on slots I think some "cluster" furnishings would be nice (filled fruit bowl for example)

It's instanced housing, similar to EQ2, but it's better than no player housing (WoW). However, it's not as awesome as non-instanced housing, like we saw in SWG and Vanguard. DAoC and LOTRO have something inbetween, where the houses are non-instanced, but the housing track is in a big instance of it's own. Even that would have been better than what we have in ESO but you have to take what they give really.

Item limits keep me from having real fun with housing. I've been at a point now (for quite some time) that if I want to add something to my home I have to remove something first. I love having a large home, but if I cannot have enough item slots to properly decorate it, what's the point?

I do love it. I'd love it more with more housing slots, if the prices weren't so stupid on crown houses, and if there were more options, like to clean up or repair a lot of the broken down ruined garbage we buy, or if we could buy different skydomes, and ESPECIALLY if they would finally give us expanded decorator privileges like LOTRO has where people with permission can actually plunk down furnishings so we could have true guild houses and couples homes.

I do love the housing in the game. I am currently decorating the Linchal Manor.
I have few small "buts" about the system though.
-Making your own furniture can take quite a bit of Mundane Runes and Heartwood. Making just decorating your place a huge gold sink. I have taken a lot of time to collect recipes, patterns etc.. It can be depressing when I am running through 200 Mundane Runestones per medium to large house(roughly)
-24 person limit on the bigger homes and the 12 person limit on Medium homes. Would love to see this expanded so more guild functions could be held in them.

The last two are purely aesthetical.
    -Light bleeding through walls
-The exterior and interior not lining up when it comes to windows. (this one is seriously minor but it tweaks my OCD every time lol)

Somewhere between the first and third options. I like housing and have completed 2 normal sized homes to my satisfaction. However I still haven't done anything with the central area of Lunar Champion and parts of my Psijic Villa still are bare. Homes that are too big, I tend to get lost in and don't know what to do. I know people go crazy for the gigantic house when they become available but I am just happy with a standard home. (Cliffshade and Old Mistveil are the ones I've completed. Old Mistveil is my favorite, because it has a yard. I actually enjoy gardening/landscaping a lot more than furnishing the interiors.)

Those people who get mad to get the huge homes mostly don't even use them as homes, mostly not even the buildings what come with it.Instead they lock all out and build something completely new in those places.
Don't get me wrong, creativity has no limits and some are really talented in building something completely new.
It is just not my cup of tea to see for example a mushroom cave at a forgemaster falls house,a vampiric castle in a hunters glade house or some kahjiity bazar in a Psijic Villa.
I prefer to stick with the theme of the house,if I get a dark elf house in morrowind I would never make a winter wonderland out of it for example.
