learning all recipes question

Darkspecialist
someday id like to know as many or all recipes on at least one toon. i was told and read but dont know if it is true that if i put points into the first passive of any crafting skill that i might lose out on recipes as i play the game. is this true?

it seems like it wouldnt be true because how would one know if you learned every recipe at each point given to the passive.

    Are you a console player?

If you are on PC there are addons that can give you the lists of recipes.

The "putting points" in mostly applies to writ rewards, so if you are doing max level writs, you will only get max level recipes.

So if you have tiers where you are missing recipes, you can set up an alt that does the writ at the level you need, and then add another point when all the recipes in that tier have been learned.

That's what I did years ago when I was working on completing my set of recipes.

Lower tier recipes are cheap enough in the guild stores that i wouldn't really worry about not getting them from writ rewards and/or other world sources.

Some of the mid level recipes can be really hard to find. I did it without add-ons though so maybe using TTC it would be easier? Players often invest skill points in a couple of levels at once so not a lot of the mid level stuff out there or at least there wasn't when I was looking. I had all kinds of guild members keeping an eye out for the last few I needed to get them all.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Indeed. I have almost all of em' on my cook, and finding those mid tier ones is a real grind.

Almost. Lower-level recipes still can be gotten as drop from containers in the world, but with extremely low chance. So you better keep the needed amount of craft skill passive, find all recipes for that tier, and then add next level of passive.

True :( I remember how I was trying to farm them all myself... It took lot of time, and I ended up buying few last recipes from traders.

Finding them all is next to impossible, as there are a few very rare (and expensive, talking about millions of gold) ones.
Best strategy is to just farm gold and buy them. This is not exciting, but certainly much faster.
