I was doing crafting writs in Orsinium years ago. I think it was the alchemy one, or possibly enchanting. I went in the shop and made my potion or glyph then exited through a different door, ran straight off a ramp walkway and died... yeah, I managed to accidentally kill myself doing crafting writs.

I ran over a pebble and got catapulted into the sky while fighting at a fort, landed and died.

Everyone was sending me whispers asking how I did that as if waiting to screenshot me admitting I was some hacker and reporting me.

Has some epic fall damage deaths.

Once I went afk for some minutes overland and come back to find my dead body in the center of one of the mini dolmens.
That are the chances? They are random at some locations and remembered the location seeing it.

But the funniest was probably in an dungeon, think it was Spindleclutch or Darkshade, friend ran down pulling the first group of adds down to the second assuming I would follow but I was rearranging my bar so he ran up again and died, I was facing them with overland setup and also died, 3rd ported in to die and finally the tank come in just after the mob ran down.
Tank was very salty and say we would die on the rats in fungal 1.

In Cyrodiil a few days ago....

A mounted EP player spotted me at the entrance of 'Alessia Bridge', so I quickly backtracked up onto the stairs and the player made a tight turn towards me just to end up dismounting right off the bridge into a river full of slaughterfish. He never made it out. Rip.

Accidental roll dodges that throw me off cliffs/platforms right into enemies or just the void. I really need to assign a special key for roll dodging.

I still can remember couple of years back, when near alessia I've got ambushed by couple nb's or something and when I crippled one of them gaining expedition (yeah we had it back then) I've got onto some unlucky terrain that launched me over the upper Niben into infinity. I believe my char was locked for some time after for possible speedhacks lmao.

Full group wipe in vSCP right after killing the last boss due to ZOS spaghetti code. When the boss dies during poison AOE, its shield (which is used to save you from damage) despawns and you die. Dear ZOS, you should reward people for completing the dungeon, not punish them.

Game crashed in Cyrodiil, spent a few minutes to re-login, spawned right in front of a group of enemies, died.

Desync in Cyodiil. I was in full health, suddenly dropped to zero in one second, death recap showed five skillls from one person, including a few hits of snipe.

Unable to cast skill in Cyrodiil. I was fighting a guy 1v1, I got his health down to around 10% and tried to finish him, suddenly I couldn't cast any skill over a few seconds. Some enemies came to help the guy and I died.

All those are so funny. There were more funny deaths I had in Cyrodiil but not listed above.

The dire wolf who killed me was not seen at first, so it looked like Nuzhimeh killed me

A few year ago I was busy re-making my character. It was a dual wielder. So I equipped the rings, all armors, the monster set. Then went to do all the skills and CP, which took a while as the game was still new to me. After doing everything to build the character, I wayshrined to the zone I was questing in. Ran towards a group of three mobs, as they are usually stacked, and noticed I couldn't use any skills. Shortly afterwards, I died.

Turned out I forgot to equip my weapons.

I once got knocked in the air by one of the trash mobs in vFV and landed right on top of the healer. But I wasn't the only thing about to fall on top of the healer at that precise moment - so was a comet. He lived; I did not.

I’m tanking v bloodroot forge, and the giant Minotaur boss takes out my group. I heroically 5k dps him down the last 120k health. My team members are all amazed and then I fall in lava and actually die trying to leave the room.

We all laughed pretty hard.

That’s awesome! Guildmates always joke about my combat merchant & how fed up she must be with being dragged to all manner of godforsaken places - now have genuine reason to be concerned may push her too far one of these days......🤣🤣

Certainly not the funniest one, but one that I remember was very embarrassing was rolling off the edge during Zaan's fight in Scalecaller peak when tanking

I was running mounted through Cyrodiil and thought I will not die to fall dmg when jumping down the waterfall... of course I hit the shore & died.

And here is the fun part:

Apparent I was chased by 5 AD that I did not noticed (I was looking ahead and not behind me).

All of those AD died the same way I did...

I pressed "resurrect here" using soul gem. They also did... it was hilarious to watch 5 ghosts chasing 1 ghost. You know, you can only move at that state, and not use skills. So just because I pressed a button 3 seconds earlier than they did, I returned to "normal", sooner than them and I managed to escape

MHK no death run being one-shot by a strangler as a tank. Walking through the gates at the hedge maze it grappled me and I died instantly. Im sure it was sort of weird desync, but we all saw the same thing and we all laughed about it.

Usually involves me mistaking the water at the bottom of a waterfall as being deep, proceeding to take a short cut off the top of said waterfall only to discover its shallow while still in the air and then I die.

Then again most of my deaths in overland can be attributed to fall damage only really die to enemies if I am not paying attention go AFK or lag gets bad.

I was doing a quest where there was a dunmer/chimer ghost standing on a cliff waiting to speak to me. I'm admittedly a little impatient so I sprint everywhere in game. I ran towards him, pressed A to speak to him either a little too early or a little too late and I jumped instead of talking to him. I zoomed past him and went right off the cliff to my death.

Another time, I decided during an event that I wanted to spawn a cake in the silliest places I could and I ended up having the not so bright idea of spawning it in the center of a harrowstorm. I spawned the cake and got killed instantly, in front of a lot of other players, when the harrowstorm titan appeared.

If you die 100% to non-player or siege npc dmg.
(fall dmg, PvE mobs / bosses etc.)

Me and a few other fellow EP were in Cyrodiil having a flute concert at Sejanus outpost, AD started attacking so we tried to stop them with our combined flute powers... alas, our flutes proved too weak.

After the addition of fall damage to the game (whenever it was), and with me being somewhat of a space cadet at times, I jumped a character down off the falls outside of Shad Astula and boom.... literally dead in the water. *facepalm*

when harrowstorms first came out and they took forever to respawn --- i waited at one for like half an hour --- signed off and went to sleep.

woke up at 4am and logged in to do my writs and i was alone in the center of a harrowstorm and couldnt run away fast enough.

No really. Right after Greymoor dropped the lag was bad, as in baaaaaaaad. As in, I really did get killed by a mudcrab in Auridon because no skill of mine would fire off.

As the time I was super frustrated and pretty pissed off, but with the passage of time I also find it intensely hilarious.

One of the earliest game clips I've made on ESO involved me running around Coldharbour back when levelled zones were still a thing. I came across a Spider Daedra, and not wishing a fight, made a quick turn to avoid aggro, only to end up dashing my guar mount right off a cliff, causing both of us to fall into the endless abyss. It was pretty funny seeing me on top of my guar levitating in mid-air while dead, and the game telling me to "Watch my step".

A more recent one involved a Veteran Sanctum Ophidia run. I was the main tank, and we were on the bridge where you fight the big troll boss, getting through the trashpacks before the bossfight. I was going around taunting all the adds, and when I pressed Dark Conversion (the one ability I can't use while blocking) to get my stamina back, one of the adds behind me hit me with a heavy attack that caused me slide along the ground... and right into one of the many holes on that bridge. I was laughing my ass off while the team was getting slaughtered by overchargers. Good times.

Most of mine are fall damage - I follow my groupmates off the tree in CoAI and land wrong, so I die and they laugh at me. I've also missed going down a waterfall - I think in Arx? I've come to the conclusion that Orcs don't fall well.

One of the funniest I've seen was at a dolmen in Cyrodiil though, and it wasn't me. I was taking on a dolmen solo when an AD guy saw me and started coming in and attacking since I evidently looked like an easy target. I couldn't handle being attacked by him and tanking the dolmen so I died, but evidently the AD guy didn't notice the Daedra around me? Once he killed me, everything I was holding turned right around and killed him instantly (and I still managed to get some AP for that). Ran back afterwards and the dolmen was still up so I could finish it without trouble.
