Folks, you do not need to take invis pots or be NB or wear sneak set gear.

Crouch behind the apples, wait until you are in stealth and there is no drunkard staggering towards while you steal em. Totally unstealthy char can do it no problem. If the "We have much to do" guy is standing next to you he is safe to ignore.

After feeding the pig, take the left/east side stairs and when you get to top of stairs run right through the Fighter's guild area to avoid the the pigseeker lurking behind The Ebony Flask entrance. Guards do not mind about piggy at all.

The pig quest has to be my favourite, no having to fight for things in delves, and no having to travel to different places in one zone. Just pure bacon

What I do on every toon, to not get a bounty:

Crouch behind the apples and wait until you're hidden (at least now the guar can't snitch on you like in years past!), and take the apples.

Mount and ride to Princess and feed her the apples without dismounting.

Immediately ride back but go LEFT after you ride between the gold and purple clad cheerers.

When you get up the steps, pause at the first house on your left, edging up a little until the butcher lady runs out and starts yelling.

As soon as you see her run out, ride BEHIND her and hop over the stone walls to the city entrance.

Ride back to the jester with pig in tow

Never got a bounty. There was an addon that conflicted with getting the apples for a few years, cant remember which one it was, but it always had to be disabled, which was annoying. Didnt notice any issues this time around.

Do you get the bounty from stealing the apple or from escorting the pig? I have a route I always take, never got a bounty from the later and I do it at full speed on a mount.

Actually, that NPC doesn't care; he won't disrupt your ability to hide, and you can steal the apples while he's standing right by the apples and he won't give you a bounty. I believe this is also true in similar situations when a quest giver or quest companion stands beside you while you're sneaking; they don't disrupt your sneaking and are programmed to ignore any crimes you might commit in full view of them.

The NPC who saw you steal the apples and gave you a bounty was probably the one who sometimes gets me-- the woman who hangs out near the end of the cart, staggers off to the eastern side of the building for a bit, then turns and staggers back toward the cart. You can be completely hidden while crouching behind the cart, and when she turns and starts staggering back toward the cart she'll see you because of line-of-sight, even though I think she's outside your detection radius.

I have no trouble taking the apples. I have both the medium armor passive and CP reducing detection radius and even switched to two sets which each further reduce my detection radius (Night Terror and Night Mother’s Embrace) — so how does the butcher always spot me???! They should really change their occupation as they’re more perceptive than any guard... I thought I was supposed to go the route lined with the festive revelers but does this reveal me to the butcher? I get one more shot to complete the Royal Jester achievement this year!

I did get a bounty last night. I am not sure who saw me, but I did get "Detected" when I grabbed them even though I was clear otherwise.

That pesky "we have much to do" guy doesn't seem to care however.

That's because questgivers normally don't exist at all, they're just interaction points to trigger dialogue. The only exception I have noticed so far is Dringoth, the skeleton who gives us the Bone Orchard quest in Grahtwood. After the quest (if you let him survive) he is conveniently parked right in front of a spot where a thieves cache turns up occasionally. If you pick it up, you'll get a bounty. Perhaps he changes from non-existing questgiver to actual NPC.

Considering the extremely bad RNG of the rewarded chests, I can't afford to skip any of the quests. I almost thought I wouldn't get a Dubious Camoran Recipe given my notoriously bad luck!

However, something odd I noticed is that in the first 2-3 days I could get to point A to B without a bounty flawlessly. Then, using the very same path I get one. As soon as I go up the stairs the pig owner simply teleports right by my side and gets me.

It's the latency. If she isn't properly loaded you can sometimes run straight where she should be without a bounty. Less people doing it now means it's easier for her to load in and get ya. If you're taking the path to the right, you need to go along the dirt path to the left the second you hit the gate, then off the staircase and up the planks.

This one is my go to for daily tickets and box because it is by far the fastest. And you don't get a biunty if your remeber to crouch and hide fully before stealing the crabapples.

I am not sure how it worked this time, but you could get a bounty in 2 places in past years:

- When stealing the apples.
- When running past a door where the pig owner lady came out and "caught" you running with the pig.

For everyone who is confused on why I had trouble with this:

Apples never gave me trouble, it was escorting the dang pig. I always went right (because there are people there cheering you on as well) so I always thought this was the way you had to go.

I only learned after making this thread that you need to go LEFT, then it's easy as pie

I've done that quest for a few years. Never had one failed on me, in fact, I did not know you could fail getting the pig back until I read somewhere one person was having a problem with it. My mount speed is maxed out. I go up the stairs and beeline to the door/entrance to the city. This year, I noticed the NPC running out the door as I zip on by. Previous years, I did hear a line that may have been connected to the quest, but never notice a new NPC. I've heard a few different lines from NPC this year. And I smile when I hear, "Ok. You win". One thing I did notice this year was the NPCs cheering me on only when I had the pig.

I have gone both left AND right, last year and this year, and I have NEVER gotten a bounty. Weird, very weird.
