"Favourite" boss mechanic?

People have been complaining about how easy the game is for years. As a result, we get DLC with straight up unfair and unreasonable mechanics, one shots every corner etc. Which one is your "favourite" mechanic, that does NOT make you want to rage quit?

One of my top-picks would be when the entire map becomes red so you cannot stand anywhere without taking damage or just catch your breath for a moment.
Another fun mechanic is bosses that self-heal for millions of HP, sometimes even up to 100%.

I really quite like the fights where enemies can be used against each other, like in Sunspire, where you can drag the Frost atronachs over the shocked ground left behind by the Shock atronachs when they die, or when the second boss bombards the platform with a deluge of fire and melts the Iron servant if it's standing there.

...Oh, we were being sarcastic. Either that, or you have a strange sense of "fun" indeed :# . Hey man, whatever works, different strokes for different folks.

Veteran Unhallowed Grave secret boss fight. Just splitting slimes in half by flying through them is just so satisfying!

    Oh wait.... You meant "favorite".
Um.... Those mechanics that throw you in the air and then you have to hit X or die. Makes a boss fight definitely interesting!!! When the server works...

I "love" the ones where bosses just go Immune all the ***ing time!

Nothing better than playing the game, having fun, and enjoying the flow of combat just to have a boss suddenly become invulnerable right when I drop my ultimate or something! :D

It's even better because most of them are predictable. All I have to do is memorize a *** **** encyclopedia of random health percentages, spawn timers, and other various trigger variables. Spending time studying, memorizing, and being tested on my intricate knowledge of petty details enhances my enjoyment of gaming immeasurably!

Minotaur ***head whateverTF your name is in Vateshran Hollows, I <3 you forever!

I agree with OP about DLC dungeons - that's why I now only do basic alliance zone dungeons. Of those, I like VoM - not only overall but specifically the glowing pillar two attacks used by the Mad Architect in the final fight. They represent (to me) the perfect level of interesting, having to know what to do and fun. I should probably add that 90% of my runs are solo, 5% duo and only 5% as a full group.

Mylenne in MHK, when you mess up positioning and she cc-es you both with one pounce. And any one-shots with short telegraph.

Hecking hemo-crap-ghosts in Moongrave Fane. Especially on Nisaazda + Grundwulf. You need to position some mob first to get a blood globe, then you need to position yourself and the ghost and the globe... ugh.

Anything where one person's mistake causes a wipe (like Assembly General's jumps)

I like mechanics where you need to pay attention and be careful (Tarcyr, Archivist Ernarde, MoL Twins), I hate mechanics where you need to hurry (Malubeth or any DPS check).

There's no mechanic per se that makes me want to rage quit. I genuinely dislike boring mechanics, such as move out, move in, rinse and repeat. Dungeons with those have zero replay value to me. I also dislike many simultaneous mechanics that have strong graphical effects. They tire me out quickly.

Dungeons with a really good blend are Falkreath Hold, Moongrave Fane, March of Sacrifices, Cradle of Shadows, etc.

Snares are my overall "favourite" mechanic. I sure love seeing my character grind into a crawl, moving at a pace comparable to a paralytic slug. Sure makes for a very entertaining moment, and does not detract from the game pacing at all.
And they are so uncommon, too. You can almost go for over 30 seconds without tripping into one.

Mechanics that either (or both) make the tank have to roll dodge attacks and makes healers useless. (Sarcastic answer)

Serious answer: I honestly do like ones that require teamwork and thinking outside of BURN BURN BURN (the one that comes to mind is the fire lady boss in White Gold Tower before it got nerfed.)
Wishing for Lilmothiit race still! Or maybe Lilmothiit companion?

I like ones that feel like direct interactions with the environment, so for ex

FH: Domihaus grovel and hiding behind pillars--probably my all time favorite
SCP: Zaan beam, poison statue AOEs
    FL: ghost walls in execute
UG: kiln boss grappling, slime boss grappling that breaks the slimes

    are mechanics I like.

I play all the roles equally but when I tank, the mechanics I don't like are just high damage boss attacks. I haven't tried Stonegarden hardmode yet, but from what I've seen of it, it shows good examples of what mechanics I like and which I don't, (not including the werewolf thing) as in pre lightning phase: don't like, lightning phase: do like.

the running around and helping your group members back up feels more like an interaction with the world than tanking a high damage boss and adds on tank/parsing a high damage boss on dd and healer. The former feels way more ''convincing'' and ''believable'' to me, I don't know how exactly to explain it.

I just realized this thread is sarcastic or whatever but there's my serious answser LOL

I like those boss fights where you need movement and group coordination. So something like Scalecaller, Lokke, CR+3, Frostvault, MoL.

What I don't like are fights where you have to stop fighting and wait. Like that Gargoyle in Moongrave that gets immune to damage all the time or when you want to do CoH2 hm and the boss is at 50% before the first ghost spawned.

I absolutely adore how some bosses can chain stun, knock down or demobilise you where you have like a whole minute where you can't do anything.

But if we talk seriously my most favourite mechanic is Mad Archittect's area attack (run outside or run in the center). It looks so cool!

    SCP 1st boss.

The NPC literally shouts what to do. The game death text tells you what to do.

    And yet.

People just stand there and die.

Honorable mention to Chokethorn - if you move away from him to kill his saplings in melee combat, he instantly pulls you back to him :D You break free and gain CC imminity, then go back to saplings... But he doesn't care about your immunity at all, and he will pull you back to him each time you try to move away. Then you have to break free again, and then he likes to charge his massive AoE attack; you already had to spend lot of stamina on breaking free - now you also have to dodge :D

Chokethorn is much more "troll king" than actual Troll King :)

Also, Cursed One, first boss in VoM, can share all damage done to him with a random group member. No-death runs are so often ruined by dds parsing on this poor boss and not caring about "Share my pain!" mechanic which can blow up even tank in a second or two :s I like this mechanic when solo, mostly cause of words which the boss says during it :) "Would you sacrifise one of your own?"

Mechanics that make me want to ragequit are the boring ones. Basically any base game dungeon, especially something long in addition to being boring like Blackheart, Selene's, Tempest, VoM...eff those, seriously. I play the game to have fun, not have a yawnfest. These just feel like such a waste of time I wanna log off every time I get them in a random lol.

My favourite one (and I know I'm in the vast minority here, yes) is honestly probably Vault Protector in Frostvault. Yes, lasers. Yes, they can be fun once you learn the rhythm. I like how this fight is all about coordination. It's kinda like a dance, you learn the moves and then just move to the music, making 3 simple steps each time to avoid that laser and never dying. I'm supersad they're basically destroying this fight in a week. Other favourites include CoS maze (again, coordination vs op deeps or anything) and knocking dwemer spheres off the platform in FV HM. Seriously, that's just SO satisfying, we need more mechs like that:D

Any mechanic that requires more then 1 person, makes the Vestige who at this point should be incredibly powerful feel weak when they cannot kill an NPC who in the grand scheme of things should be trash tier because they have some stupid mechanic where they perma-stun lock you and you have no way of escaping.

    I. HATE. IT.
It's easy, it does next to no damage, but it's long ... loooooong.
    And boring ..... booooring.

For me the annoying ones are some of those that rely on your doing things like dodge rolling back and across with almost no warning because the game lag is often so bad it just doesn't work and everyone dies not of skill but lag.

For a lot of the clever mechanics they need to fix the game lag problems to make them fun rather than randomly stupid.
