Why do we need to jump over pebbles and tiny steps...?

This is very frustrating and shows poor design. Why can't characters go up the tiniest step or the gentlest slope in front of them? Why do they get stuck by the near invisible pebbles? Fun times, especially when chased by guards or in pvp.

I hate falling into water because most of the time characters cannot jump out of it. How many times have you got stuck in the pools of VoM and then had to bunny hop to get out?

I'm not asking for climbing everything like Breath of the Wild, just maybe idk, be able to walk up a staircase or get out of water without jumping?

I don't think I have ever jumped out of water in RL, I always needed something to grab ahold of with my hands and hoist myself out. I think that's kind of an amazing feat to simply hurl my body covered in armor with weapons in hand and get up out of the water without running up shallow ground. :open_mouth:

It is fun though, when being chased by a dozen of mobs in Craglorn, sprinting and panting in heavy armor and then you get stuck in a bunch of flowers you can hardly see ... stupid design makes me laugh each time :) That will teach you not to be a coward !!

At least your horse won't stop dead in its tracks from a small pebble, or from hitting an invisible seam between two sections of ground. This was a problem right after launch. Some objects in the environment, most notably camp fires, would make your character shoot up into the air if you walked over them. Clearing obstacles and navigating the world in ESO used to be even worse...

This drives me nuts. Some netimes there is just a lip sticking up maybe a foot relative to character height. You can't just run over it, and if you jump while right against it, the physics if the game cause you to jump up and almost backwards rather than on it or over.

I agree with OP. There are areas even in the Elden Root crafting area where my tiny elf knows she has to bunny hop over.

More importantly to me, however, is that I want her horse to be able to swim! Equestrians should not have to dismount to cross a river. Horses actually do know how to swim. And I can think of no reason why they should not be able to swim. They swim in real life and other TES games and swimming horses would not mess up any aspect of the fact that ESO is multiplayer. If you swim into slaughterfishies, the horse throws you and you are on your own - not a problem.

Simple fix on devs remove small terrain collision pebbles, small rocks, flowers, shrubs etc scrap the collisions entirely not like we care if our toe clips into a pebble. But dlc dungeons and more are terrain nightmares

I call that the One Hour Optical theory. Because there's no place to get glasses, enemy NPCs can't see you until you're very close, certainly well within spell range.

But then if they start chasing you, they can suddenly see you through walls...

As a 810+ character, I had to wait for help to finish the quest in the Eilnor sewers because I kept getting hung up on the dirt and couldn't move.

Granted the fight was bugged (multiple tries over multiple days) since the boss didn't reset when I died and its tough to rez when the boss is following you.

I was *just* thinking about this last night after getting stuck on the 10+ clutter item... not to mention walls with breaks in them that one could easily step over... but in Tamriel they are somehow insurmountable mountains.

And while the OP may not be asking for mountain climbing like in BotW, I sure will! It would make getting over mountains and out of those random pits a hell of a lot easier than wasting gold and time (mostly time) *looks pointedly at Malabal Tor*.

OH and don't get me started on mobs that CAN SEE THROUGH WALLS and attack you, but you gods forbid if you approach a tangle of vines trying to attack that same mob!

This issue is made worse when trying to use stage 4 vampire's invisibility sprint. Now avoiding entering the falling animation is top priority and you have to jump over even the most minor of ledges.

I feel like the art assets aren't correctly aligned with the underlying objects sometimes. Thus an object looks like a pebble, but we can't see that the object is slightly larger than that. At least, that's what it appears like.

I also get annoyed by the restrictive jump if you're too close to a wall that can be jumped onto.

My biggest annoyance is running off stairs. It sends me flying and then puts me in the iron man landing on the ground animation, which usually ends in the enemies getting free hits on me.

There is another big problem: fast horses. If you're mounted, a tiny step on your horse will make you fall off cliffs and die. :|

The walkway around the well in Hundings Palace has a slightly raised section that is no higher than my characters ankles and it drives me crazy every time I get stuck on it.

@phaneub17_ESO equally, if I need to clear a small obstacle such as a puddle, I also don't jump 3.5 feet in the air but only 6" forward. I can also manage to begin my jump when I choose, without falling into or getting stuck on the thing I'm trying to clear. Never in my life have I gotten stuck on the 1/2" transition from my kitchen to my living room.

While I've never had to IRL jump over a 3 foot long stretch of lava, I'm pretty damn sure I'd be able to get it right.

No one moves or gets hung up on things like they do in the game. If they did, the Devs would never be able to make their way past their own cubicle, let alone out of the office.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

I don't think it's realistic to expect ZOS to fix collision detection on every single model in this game, given that there's already an abundance of more pressing bugs that they still have yet to address. I'll admit, it's frustrating that as a mighty warrior who has slain dragons, gods, and literally thousands of NPCs, my main can't jump more than maybe 2-3 feet vertically; heck, even I can jump higher, you'd think the characters would be in better shape. Instead of altering character models, hitboxes on objects in the environment, or implementing animations to climb ledges, I think the most feasible solution would be to either increase the jump height or implement a double jump. Honestly, of the two, I think double jump is the more fun option; think of how often you jump just while running around or showing off your look in town, and then imagine DOUBLING that. It would allow for easier exploration, fewer uses of /unstuck, and never having to fear a shallow puddle of water again. And in a game where magic, gods and dragons exist, people can come back from the dead and the rules of reality are completely different, I don't think being able to jump twice would be out of place.

Yes, but it's extremely slow. Couple days ago I found out you can press jump to make your horse rear
