Many moons ago, I seem to recall there was mention of an exploit where you could stack attacks while doing an emote, and when the emote animation ended, all those attacks would fire at once - delivering instant death to the targeted player in PvP.

I wonder if this is related somehow. I could be wrong though...

I'm not sure since that also was a glitch where the user was able to move and any and all attacks now will break emotes. It's possible there's some kind of blocking exploit with it, but I've my doubts on that as well given that if you're actively hit by something the emote breaks as well and you take damage.

Well they removed emotes for werewolves before aswell. Just keep on giving roleplayers the finger.

That is not RP. Its flexing. RP is becoming the character. Its very hard in this game.

@poodlemasterb16_ESO How the hell is not RPing? There were a bunch of people who used the emotes when roleplaying a werewolf character and wished for more useable ones. The ones that was available was a bit limited but it was nice having a little. (The emotes useable in werewolf form was /crouch, /cower, /playdead or knockeddown, /smash, /take, /begone).

I've no idea why you think this is only used for "flexing". Whatever that is.

Emotes are emotes. As I said above I am going to start using my Ultimate to express my feelings.

What they are nerfing is using emotes along with other things to reduce flexing really, although there is perhaps some other exploit, they are really targeting. Liking the idea, I offered my support.

Using those few emotes while in a pack, does not impact anything much, but its hardly RP.

Uh, yeah it is. Do you know what roleplaying and rpgs are?

Roleplaying which was mentioned already by someone else, can be done in many ways. Two of the most common ways it can be done is: Alone, which you often do when playing a singleplayer rpg. Making a character of your choice to roleplay as throughout the game, or immerse yourself in the game and its world .
Or roleplaying with others, which you usually do in mmos or the classic pen & paper/D&D way. Interacting and making a story with your and others' characters.

This is an unnecessary change. Unless the devs add the ability to idle with your weapon or replace a weapon with your own in emotes this is a bad decision. I've always thought they should make the emote/personality system more detailed. There are idles in certain personalities that aren't emotes and it can be such a shame if you want that particular pose.

That is not RP. Its flexing.

Super curious as to how you define "flexing" in this context.

Utilising your weapon in an emote, an action that literally anyone can do with no skill required, is "flexing", but wearing an expensive motif or crown store costume with a rare dye is not flexing? Having the Godslayer title isn't flexing? Emperor costume? Sunspire skin? Summoning your radiant apex mount by the rock in Rawl'kha? Those have just as much impact on you - i.e. only visual - but fit much more closely within the general definition of flexing as "bragging about an accomplishment or possession".
PC NA, CP2500+. Character creation is the true endgame.

Are you really trying to dictate how other people RP?

RP means something. It is from RPG, which means Role Playing Game. As I have been playing RPGs longer than many of you have been alive, I know what that means.

It does not mean standing around where you can maybe impress someone, and spamming some animation or other.

You are making us role-players AND us grumpy old farts look bad. It's okay to yell at the younguns to get off your lawn if they are actually on your lawn. If they are in a public park, let them be. Someone's first introduction to role-play might actually be just doing something that looks cool to them but could later make them think about character traits and flesh out a personality. Do not try to force other people to role-play the way you do or you will drive them out of it completely. We didn't build a role-playing community by making it sound snooty and unapproachable.

1st ed AD&D player from circa 82 here... POODLE has a personal problem, that is all. There is no discussion about RP here.. POODLE is the problem. LOL @ anyone gatekeeping what little RP potential there might even be in this game....

If this change makes it's way to live, it will pretty much make getting The Arena Gladiator Emote/Taunt mandatory if you want to pose with your weapon. It was difficult enough for me to get because I personally do not PvP all that much & it costs 30 Arena Proofs from Cyrodiil, or 30 days worth of daily quests... Also when it is sold on guild traders (Where I bought mine from), its expensive enough & cost well over 1mil gold most of the time. Not everyone does PvP or has that much gold laying around for that matter. I also cannot think of any logical reason or way that the bug can be exploited & it seems harmless.

The only way to do it justice if it goes live in my honest opinion is to give us weapon poses/emotes that have been on NPCs for years, such as these for example. Please ZOS, do not take this away. :(

Please, please, consider reverting this "fix" on the current PTS. So many people cherish this bug & like using it on their characters, for taking screenshots & roleplaying.

Honestly, ZOS needs to squash bugs not try to turn them into features. I've said it before and I'll say it again.

    BUGS ARE NOT FEATURES

You must have not played many games then lol. Some of the top grossing Esports games have things you might consider as "bugs" when they're really not, it's just a way of optimising your gameplay.

You can say it all you want but if what you're saying is coming from an inexperienced background with the medium then it doesn't hold any weight.

Light weaving is much needed skill scaling, prebuffing is strategic, emote blocking is a neat roleplay element.

Adding my name to this list of people that think it's abhorrent to take away something from the community that they adore.

Why fix majour issues like frequent crashes/gross lag when we can take away one of the few things that the playerbase actually enjoys?

You calling it a flex is a flex itself. How on earth is it even remotely a flex? "because i don't know how to do it, therefore it's a flex, everyone who uses costume dyes i don't own is flexing!"

I have been here since the beta. There are people everywhere flexing away all around the popular places. To call my complaint a flex is dumb.

I have costumes and pets from way back, stuff very few people have. I can stand on a horse and do all the stupid things you call rp. Its not. RP is Role Playing. Becoming the character and what the hordes of people do is flexing. "Look at my cool thing and boy I can spin my staff, aren't I great?" Is in no way RP.

    Weird flex, but okay.

congrats, you have items from the start, congrats you can stand on a horse. for a guy who views using emotes with items in hand a flex for no logical reason, you sure do legitimately flex too. I was being sarcastic the previous time, because you called emoting with a weapon 'flexing' i called your post a flex in the same lack of logic you applied. And yet funny enough you begin really flexing bragging about things you have that we don't care about.

People like to use the emotes with their weapons, that is NOT flexing at all. and there's also nothing wrong with it to justify ZOS killing the fun like you're trying to do.

I'll agree with light weaving, i hate it. it definitely does make an impact that forces others to have to learn something actually against the game.

    but emotes is harmless.

I used to play another game, Champions Online, it's a superhero comicbook style MMO and people there hated how the devs in that game would 'police' their whole costume system with "oh, this item combination glitches through each other, sure they look perfectly seamless and no broken looking part but it's clipping so we'll restrict it anyway!" and that's a game about making your superhero character look unique

If this change has been revered, then good! I'm so tired of actual fun things being taken away over the years (being able to spin while doing mementos, walking while doing emotes, etc.) These things do NOT hurt anyone and only add to the personality of the game. Focus resources and time on actually fixing broken things that prevent or hurt progress and gameplay, please! (And as for those arguing against it... any arguing I've seen against such things is so flimsy and ridiculous that it's not even worth responding to.)

When people block during emotes it is fun as we can use it to our advantage with friends, making out staff spin and do random things. We don't need this changed. I will defend 99% of changes in thw game- but I highly disagree with this one gor the sole purpose of it being a great part of RPing (I hold my staff up with the duchess personality /tilt) or holding my weapons in stances that match my characters personality for role playing. Or just being rediculous.

Hey everyone, thanks so much for providing your thoughts and feedback on this change, which was originally done to address some visual issues and clipping that would occur when performing emotes. However, after reviewing several threads, we recognize many of you prefer to see your weapons while using emotes despite any visual oddities that may occur. As such, we are working on reverting this change. Thanks again for all the feedback!
