Had a few instances where someone runs ahead without having the courtesy to say “let’s speed run this” so we all have to mad dash and follow. Feel bad for players who want to listen to the quest dialogues.

But next time this happens, I will initiate vote to kick.

so, with my 5 accounts that are all over cp 300 I shouldnt be able to do normal FG1 for my "rewards" because OP said so?
    Thanks, OP.

I hate people that do this. IDGAF how fast you can run, I don't want to waste all my stamina trying to keep up with you, because I'm gonna need it when the mob you activated roots me (or the noob running along with me) and we can't get away.

On the other had, I'm not gonna kick you either because you're at least marginally useful compared to my *** that queued as a real tank that you clearly have no need for.

9 out 10 times, everyone will follow you. And rushing will go smoothly. Because all the mobs will be gathered in place to be ulted down. This is faster than doing it alone.

The other time people will not follow you either because they don't understand that killing the mobs is detrimental to themselves or because they are being petty. Either way my only responsibility to them is hold off on the bosses needed for important credit. Side bosses and mobs they miss being slow are on them. Sprinting is not a difficult thing to do. Everyone can do it.

There's been times I stopped following the rushing player because someone else got left behind. I was playing healer, and when the lower level player gets stuck with the mobs, well, the nice thing to do is to get them out of the mess and explain what's going on.

But when you simplify it down to "they aren't following me because they are ignorant or petty", its a lot easier to believe you are 100% doing your teammates a favor, isn't it?

If you wanna actually do your team a favor, slow your roll enough to explain that you'll be rushing and everyone should follow. (But that would take precious seconds, and besides, that's just not your responsibility.)

I didn't use the word ignorant specifically because it's got a negative connotation that "they didn't know any better" doesn't. You make it sound like I was disparaging that group, when I was not.

And frankly, they don't need an explanation. It's not hard to figure it out. And trying to explain just leads to abuse from the petty group.

So I just do what people have been doing in MMO video games since MMOs were invented, big pulls. I stop and kill the first boss specifically so they have time to figure out why I'm doing what I am doing. Most of them wisely follow the second pull without issue even if they stopped and killed stuff the first time. I actually could just pull straight to Ozzai if I wanted to be a jerk, like many do. And I could just go kill and the last boss instead of waiting.

    But I don't.

The first fix sounds reasonable to me, but not the second as CP accumulates just playing the game and someone may not be up to that level, may be new to dungeons, or be on a new level 50 whom they are still learning to play and have many skills yet to level.

Yeah. Also CP is account wide. My tank may be 810 CP, but I have a long ways to go before I'm any good at it. I haven't played her much at all and her skills aren't even all leveled. She should at least have leveled skills before being thrown into vet content.

Sorry, but I find your stance incredibly selfish.

If a high level player is using "group finder" to find a low level group/dungeon, and then speedrun a solo, especially when leaving tons of mobs for some unlucky low levels behind, who may be just trying the dungeon for the first time and who have no clue what is going on, these high levels are destroying the game experience, especially if the low levels cannot do the quest and even more if they do not get the Event Ticket and Undaunted Box reward.

When you find yourself in a group with only CP810 people, of course you MAY ASK/DO for a speedrun. But when you see people lower than level 50, pls help them doing the dungeon instead of ruining it for them.

A second thought: I think this time ZOS was too generous by giving away even 10 Transmute crystals for just doing a random normal dungeon. Most CP810 people can solo most normal dungeons within a few minutes. I do not think this is worth 10 TMCs, especially not if this enormous reward makes people speedrun beginner dungeons with several CP810 toons per day and so ruining it for beginners. Are there even normal dungeons runs now for beginners? Probably not, and this is sad. Perhaps it should be 10 Transmute crystals for Vetreran players only for Veteran Dungeons then.

That's why I favor getting the tickets and golden reward box from the undaunted quest givers at the undaunted enclave, instead of the final boss. This way, if you didn't get to the last boss cause of some speed demon knucklehead got there first and nuked the final boss by him or herself, you can at least reset or re-queue the dungeon. On the latter, if it shows the activity complete, well, you won't get the last boss's loot, but you will at least get the tickets and reward box after returning to the undaunted enclave.

Alas, I don't let the stupidity of gamers (especially in ESO) get to me. On something like this, I would just leave group before the roadrunner gets to the last boss and re-queue after the penalty. I'm good with waiting and killing time doing other dailies.

And once again why I don't bother to explain. I literally stated that anyone who kills bosses that are NEEDED without the team present is a jerk. But once again I'm being labelled selfish for doing something I don't do, because people have a hang up about rushing and think that means everyone else does too and rushers are bad, awful, selfish jerks.

If you have a quest, it's your responsibility to alert the group. If you don't, that's on you. Unlike rushing, there is no negative stigma that will lead to people being jerks if you speak up.

I again, wait at the bosses that are needed. For a pledge that means a pledge boss, for a random normal that just means the final boss.

BTW nobody is leaving mobs for you to kill. You are CHOOSING to kill mobs by yourself instead of following. Whether or not a new player will enjoy getting the run done fast or not will depend on the personal taste of that player. And it's their responsibility to make a group if randomly being grouped with a vet player is a problem for them.

Spoken like someone who doesn't play a tank. Or a stam character. If I'm trying to tank a dungeon, I'd much rather start the boss battles with my resource for blocking full... especially if there isn't someone else there to restore stam once we get to the boss.

I stopped PUGging ages ago because of this. Yes, I understand wanting to go through things quickly - most times I like to get done pretty painlessly as well. The less time the boss is up, the less I have to get smacked around. If I'm in a group, I'll keep up the pace. But being in a group where one person darts ahead and grabs all of the adds (ruining my stack) and pulls them to the boss (but whoops, one of our DPS got stuck in a rock so they're not here) and then engages (well, now I need to rush in, but hope you don't need me to block or dodge any attacks, since I'm out of stamina). I was in one (vet, at least) Tempest Island where our 'healer' wiped the group at the first boss since they pulled every add all the way, one of the DPS needed the quest and the other was pretty new, and each of the rest of us got stuck at different places trying to run up the planks, and nobody could res since the boss was engaged.

There's speedrunning a dungeon, and then there's just being an uncaring [insert your favorite word here].

...yeah, I stick to my guild. At least there, I know who rushes and I can let them handle it, because the healer will toss out some resource restore or I can depend on shards during the fight. I won't have to deal with "fake tank isn't blocking!" when I have no stamina since I had to sprint the whole way, and no incoming heals since the 'healer' wants to solo the dungeon. And if we do want to clear trash or get bosses for achieves, it adds an extra few minutes (and now that the stickerbook is a thing, there is still a point to doing it.)

Still, communication is key. Many groups in ESO (which has been established to be different that standard MMOs and tends to have a much higher proportion of people who play primarily solo) will go pull by pull. There's a good chance they don't know about things like the FG skip. It shouldn't be on the newer players to say "please stop" when someone has already taken off; that makes them seem a bit unapproachable in the first place since they evidently don't want to work as a team. It should be on the vet player to say "hey guys, speedrun?"

For all the "sprinting is not hard" folks, I find it somewhat ironic that judicious sprinting to keep up with another player when dodging attacks and CCs from enemies is actually a skill I had to learn...when playing with my PVP guild.

As a magicka character, it's easy to not have a big stam pool to begin with. That's quickly drained by sprinting if you don't pace yourself to allow some regen, and if you don't have enough leftover to roll dodge and break free, you'll be locked down in that horde of mobs or enemy players. Stamina players have it easier, but even they'll run themselves out of fighting resources if they aren't careful.

Chasing dungeon rushers got a lot easier after I learned how to follow my PVP crown without running myself out of stamina.

If you think it's easy, it's probably because you are the one in front of the horde dodging their potshots, not running through the thick of an aggroed and angry pack of NPCs following the guy who aggroed them. The guy in front has a lot less damage and CCs to contend with.

And for the "I do big pulls!" players...I tank. I like to hit the first group of mobs to determine how well the group can handle it.
If we murder the mobs and nobody seems to have problems? Great, we can handle big pulls!
If the group struggles with DPS? If we've got a fake/bad healer and health bars are all over the place? Nope, no big pulls for us.

My philosophy as a tank is that I should be as efficient as I can within the random group I got. If the group can't handle a big pull, and I do it anyway, then I'm making everyone else's experience worse by insisting that we do things my way even if I can solo the dungeon myself.

How do you decide who is a veteran player? I have around 1100 CP. Am I allowed to take my level 10 character into the only dungeon that pops in the activity finder? Does she have to wait until I level her to 50 and then I can only do vet? I don't think it's up to anyone else what I feel my characters are ready for, not even ZOS.

    1. If you run far enough ahead no one gets credit for the kill.
    2. Its worse than stealing. Its depriving 2+ people of their dungeon loot and undaunted dailies simply because you couldn't wait like 2 extra minutes. Its treating the other players like trash.

I play both and will do it on both. I don't engage bosses unless I can handle them by myself for that reason.

Also strongly disagree that it should be on the vet player to ask every single dungeon whether or not they can play efficiently. If you need a slower run, it's on you to speak up. You can't expect people to gimp themselves or open themselves to verbal abuse constantly just so you don't have to say anything.

I will absolutely go very slowly when someone wants to hear the story. When a new dungeon comes out, sometimes I even advertise a story run and will pick up some noobs in zone to slowly walk through the story. But that is 1 run out of a 100, and I don't think it's unreasonable that this 1 out of 100 person is expected to ask for help if they need it.

Or better yet, ZOS should add a story mode to dungeons already.

And again, I don't attack bosses that people need. People who do that are jerks.

I do this as a mag dps and follow just fine on a mag dps. Just use a shield or self heal. Should have one. Not hard.

I don't think one should pull unless you know you can handle it. I can handle the adds by myself if I had to so I don't need a test drive first. On my new baby tank, I do the same thing. Big pulls for good dds and small ones for bad ones,

I had just this experience today. I wonder, is this topic was written by one of those who were in my group today. I was healer, and it is exactly what happened. I understand, that some people just want to speedfarm boxes ( I was farming them too ) but if I see that someone from group wants to take longer run, I am ok with that too. People might need achievement, or just do not know about shortcut, or want some additional gear drops. Taking longer run takes just 2 minutes more, but who could expect any decency from a person, who is already a fake tank?

I was tanking a dungeon yesterday and i am high cp but i like old school play where i wait for heals
and let dps kill adds i taunt but this one dos ran ahead and left all of us behind with all the mobs and kept running to the bosses ...I was going to ask him why he didnt go in a tank for faster queues since he made a good tank tbh.....still it was rude to no consider other ppl in the grouo.

I don't want other players to decide for me what I should and shouldn't kill. I'd like to kill all the bosses, including skippable ones, and, preferably loot all the chests. Dungeon sets don't grow on overland trees or something.
I've had Blackheart Haven run where someone needed to pee or something, because they rushed so hard, that I didn't even had the time to pick up the quest. It's simply not normal and people like this should play some other games.

If the Dreughking actually despawns, while you have to kill just the one Mini-Dreughboss and the crab, you have a serious l2p issue. That takes about 3 minutes solo. As we speak about solo, just go into FG 1 solo its the easiest dungeon out there, then you certainly get your tickets, or maybe not if you lack so much damage, that 3 people can't beat it before some corpse despawns.

One thing I suspect people don’t understand about mob aggro is that as long as they have not been damaged by the character that set them in a combat state, they will tend to attack characters distant from them first. Meaning if an experienced player rushes through mobs quickly doing no damage as they go, the vast majority of mobs will key on the rest of the group. This means all the other players will be bogged down dealing with damage, CCs and snares as they attempt to keep up. Not everyone who queues up for a random normal dungeon is capable of soloing it, and not necessarily very experienced.

To rush forward without having the common courtesy to ensure the others in the group are on the same page is nothing short of selfish, and insulting to the others. There is nothing we can do about the quality of people we group with randomly, but we can be aware of our own behavior and ensure that we are at least not part of the problem.
