How do you not go crazy with the pets?

Its a real question from me. I could NOT play a Pet Sorc with that flying Daedra thing flapping around all the time. I find it highly annoying when a sorc like that HAS to run around close to me. It is better with the not-flying pets (that goes for non-combat-pets as well) but not by much.

I love my Sorc but you are right. The flying Daedra seems to get right in my line of sight. Would be nice if it hovered a little farther away. I also find on both my Sorc and Warden, I have to get used to running back from objects I want to interact with and running back forward so the pet isn't blocking the object/person.

From my stable of over 100 active characters, 1 is a pet sorc. I usually remove the pets from my bars as soon as I level the skill line enough to put something else there.

What flying Daedra? The one my brain just blurs out? A that one. I sometimes notice it when I try to use it as a shield in pvp land.

I have a twilight magsorc and two bear wardens (mag & stambow). My approach is that they are like real pets - not perfect but you love them anyway, feeling that the companionship and help they give is worth it. The twilight is more trouble than the bear since she is up at line of sight. I really don't have much trouble at all with the bear while adventuring and don't really mind having to move to get the bear away from a corpse so I can loot sometimes.

I dismiss them in towns so they never bother me or others around crafting stations/congested areas. I'm on PC and it takes a few clicks to do that which I find pretty irritating. By using the Pet Dismiss addon, dismissing them is simply one click and can even be done after I start a teleport to home animation or during conversation/info menus. The additional ease of dismissing pets provided by Pet Dismiss makes a world of difference to me.

Most of the time I don't: I have 7 characters, which does include a sorcerer and a warden but I'm not playing them all the time and they don't always use pets. I used the infuriating flapping twilight only just long enough to level the skill up and then never again, precisely because it's so annoying. I don't mind the others as much, but I still don't use them all the time.

When I was using the flappy one I only summoned it at the start of a battle and dismissed it afterwards so it wasn't around any longer than necessary. I know that's not how they're supposed to work, but it was the only way to make it bearable, the constant motion is really annoying otherwise.

The others don't bother me nearly as much so I'll keep them around longer, but I'll still dismiss them if I'm expecting a break between fights, and whenever I go into town so they're not in the way.

Pets larger than a dog ought to stay behind and to the side of the player, and probably should be coded to stand behind and to the side of anyone within 2 meters of the player.

Flying pets should also fly a meter above the player, at minimum.

They should be coded to stay a meter minimum from interactable nodes and 2 meters from an invisible circle scribed around things like writ turn-in locations.

Any time a player is within line of sight of a combat zone, fighting pets should be able to get closer as necessary, and we can discuss whether pets should be allowed inside places like banks, etc, or just despawn unless actual combat in those kinds of areas is occurring.

(cleaned up an obvious speeling gaff)

If I had a pet irl that always got between me and my kill I’d stick my flaming maul up its...

The least ZOS could do is let the pet eat the corpse which would cause the loot box to open automatically

I honestly forget she is there. I try to dismiss them both at crafting tables, merchants, etc to be considerate of others but to be perfectly honest I just stop noticing that they're there at all lol.

I don't like to run pets (ofc I have over the years though) but absolutely despise them in cities. They should make them invisible while in towns or have them up a bit higher as we all know a matriarch flapping in our face is never fun.

From purely cosmetic point of view:

Among combat pets, I only like Clannfear (he looks cute for my taste, and makes funny sounds) :) Other combat pets annoy me, cause I don't like their looks and their sounds :/

    From practical point of view:

I really dislike all combat pets - cause they have "collision" (prevent me and other players from interacting with objects) :/

I stopped using pets on my sorc and wardens long time ago. But back then when I still used them, I would always remove pets when I'm in the city, and took care of them if I was around some quest NPC etc.

I am indifferent to any, even the largest non-combat pets simply because they don't have "collision". Large pony stands in front of banker? That's ok, I can still interact with the banker.

It's also funny that I actually don't like to have follower of any kind - any NPC following me is a distraction :D I am startled by my merchant or banker when I explore overland. I try to stove them as soon as I finished my business, but sometimes I forget and they run to me trying to catch up, and I freak out that this is other player going to take away treasure chest or crafting node...

Non-combat pets are also distraction, and sometimes I don't even notice that I've forgotten to enable my pet. But it's strange relationship, cause I love observing my non-combat pets  Do I like to play without pets? Totally yes! But do I like to watch my super cute Sep Adder doing his evil snek things? Absolutely yes! :D

Definitely gets on my nerves and my magsorc uses the Twilight regularly.

While moving around and running down dungeon hallways they usually stay a good bit away from my line of sight. But in towns or questing, it likes to snuggle up right in front of my face flapping the wing while I'm talking to an NPC ... :s

On the one hand I'd love it it was hidden when interacting with NPCs, on the other hand I'd probably forget to dismiss the pets if it wasn't bothering *me* and instead it would just bother everyone else :p

The damn flapping is the main problem.

Those damn flapping wings almost give me seizures (and I really do mean it)! I hate the godawful thing and only summon the damn thing when I need to heal others in my group for various reasons. That design from hell needs to be remade completely.

Here's a suggestion for ZOS who looooves the crown store: implement skins for pets that you can buy with crowns. I'd freaking do it in a heartbeat! Those flapping wings are a threat to people's health!

Pet Dismiss addon. When my sorc needs it, I cast it. As soon as it's stopped being useful I dismiss it. I hate the bloody thing as well, but is useful for the build.

[edit] typo, someone's pet got in the way of the keyboard :P

I would really like ESO settings to include an 'only see pets in combat' option.

The assistants are even worse in a fight and I don't understand why they don't make a hasty exit when one breaks out. It's not as if it wouldn't fit the game flow.

I don't understand why they've never done this. It's clearly possible because they added the grey warden bear, but it was never followed up and now we've got the 1 skin in a menu on it's own and no way to change sorcerer pets (or other options for the warden) even though players keep asking for it.

You know it's due to preference right? You may not like pets but this one loves having them around. That's why khajiit despises necro pets, they dont take hits and feel like a boring fancy dot/hot.
That one khajiit obsessed with werewolf behemoth and vampire lord. Lady Thorn is bae, dont @ me.
