Ring of the Pale Order should be restricted to solo play only.

For most group content, slotting Echoing Vigor or a self heal + a monster set will be better than the ring.

I don't see it being such a problem. It is great for solo, great for groups pushing score, but it won't be for everyone.

There are several mechanics in the game where you can't exactly deal damage all the time and still do what you need to do.
    Calm_Fury wrote: »

    -Really?

Really. Those groups already don't use a healer. The ring is not going to change anything about that.

I'd even bet most of those groups will still NOT use the ring because they rely on skipping mechanics, which means higher DPS and reactive healing are still better.

I've been checking the logs. I've done dozens of dungeons since patch hit and I didn't see a single DPS using the ring so far.

Who cares?? If you bring it into a pug or daily dungeon you better be expected to know how to play with it then.

-How do you play with it?

It'll take a few weeks before we see the ring on the live server. It's not that easy to get...

I think we need to do more to revive the Healer role. Not sure this ring is really helping with that issue. It does make solo arenas way too easy.

No way. It’s totally fine as is... my goodness. Will help for 4 man. Will help for solo. Anything else? Not as good as a healer...

4 man groups(and all the dungeons with it) may be dead as group content. Only 12 man content remains as group content.

    i have,
managed to get overcrowded with mobs and couple of something like daedroths (don't know the name but was looking like it) - can survive even only with pulsar(impulse/destro) until i get stuned then it is 50/50.
definitely is fun to use it solo running around siting between mobs and waiting for your health to decrease... but on random group dungeon it will depend by skills of who is wearing it.

    notification will be good :
    *people blaming healers
*people forgot they are wearing it
*newbies don't knowing what they even doing in this dungeon
    *probably there is more

    No.

Let it be the way it is.

Not everything must be controlled and managed by the Devs Overlords. Players are capable of handling these kind of things.

You know this is not IRL, right? Players have no power here.. Devs ARE overlords. This is not like the Fed deciding interest rates...

Alright I'll play ball. If it's already restricted to soloing

-It's NOT! You can do your daily dungeons with pugs wearing this!!! -That's my point! It needs to be restricted to solo play!

Um, I keep myself alive quite easily apparently...I have the same problem with the Pale Order as I do with Wild Hunt, I'll queue, go farm some mats or public dungeons while waiting. Boom. Off to the dungeon and I either forget it is on, or the group runs off on some crazed speed run leaving me no time to swap.

Being snarky, are we? I enjoy pugging as a healer. But beyond a hello, not many people say anything. I do a good job keeping everyone alive while helping dps, too. I'm sure once I see someone's health drop low and my heals are doing nothing, I'll catch on that they must be using the ring. But I sure blew a lot of Magicka spamming burst heals.

Most gear have animations of effects when they are being used. There's nothing wrong with asking for an animation / effect / even slight color change to indicate they are wearing it. It would be a good thing. And as someone mentioned, there are players who don't speak English in this game, too.

I do not see that they were arguing that we would not see players try to use it but that wise players know their limits.

Heck, I see melee players that are nowhere near skilled enough to fight in melee range yet they do and they die repeatedly as a result and keep up pretending they are melee DPS.

Maybe I'm daft.. But are you arguing for or against using the ring in group content?

I am not arguing either way. However, the game should not restrict its use. It is not Zos' place to dictate where sets can and cannot be used. I cannot think of a single set that Zos has restricted its use. Some sets are less useful in some situations that the reasoning there does not apply to Pale Order.

In that context, an organized group can decide to allow or not allow its use. Then again, the more organized a group is the more organized their gearing is. It becomes the player's choice to comply or find another group to run with.

The slippery sloped hysteria over this ring is HILARIOUS.

It's mostly because people (mostly healers) are paranoid that they'll no longer be needed. At least that's been the general consensus in zone and in the majority of "NERF PALE ORDER NAO" threads.

Just to be clear, I used to be a healer main a long time and another platform ago. I'm all for restoring healers to being required.

The ring, though, does not really affect anything about this issue, in my opinion.

It will be great for solo content. It will be far from optimal for group content.

Where it could be used in a group, people that know what they are doing already don't need a healer and probably won't use the ring because a monster set + one active healing will likely get better results anyway.

If it were changed to be usable in a group it'll get nerfed like thrassian stranglers.

Because it is a soul sucking experience to get like thrassian stranglers that'll *** off people just like the stranglers nerfing did.

So let's be thankful this is a niche item.

Those are temporary. But, yeah. If I'm healing a pug group, and my member's health drops and for some reason, and all of my healing is not bringing their health up, then I worry. When I choose the role of healer, I do feel responsible for keeping everyone alive.

Please note that I have said that I don't mind people using the ring. By all means. But it would be nice if they either informed me of it.....or why not a visual effect of some sort.

Am I missing something? I admittedly did not get on PTS this go round, but heard about how OP this ring is. Just ran VMA with it today on my sorc. I was not that impressed to be honest. Not sure its worth a slot when I can get way more healing from crit surge. Not saying its not a nice heal, but I am not seeing the OP'ness that was described. LOL

Now what they should do, revert Thrassian to launch and restrict that to solo play. Make VMA fun again. This was my first run post Thrassian or the Asylum staff (pre nerf). Boring...

The Ring is basicallly Crit Surge for all the classes, but you lose a Monster Set.

It is still good, but nowhere near as OP as people say when they read the tooltips.

Everyone sees Alcast doing it and thing everyone will get the same healing output... As if everyone in this game had buff uptime and light attack weave as good as Alcast.

If you can't keep you dots and buffs up consistently, the healing is not that great.

Plus, it won't save you from one shots, mechanics or phases without stuff to hit.

I like this ring a lot and I don't think it is overpowered.

Imagine being that worried about what people in a PUG are wearing. You either play with a PUG or have expectations, not both, and it's essentially solo play, because you can't count on a tank having a taunt, or a healer not being just a very impatient DD, or a DD having a clue what they are doing.

And if it's not a PUG, as said above, use words.

I read this whole thread and still don't get the point. How exactly does someone wearing this ring ruin anyone elses game? Honestly, I would rather have the heals from the healer, but in the case where the healer sucks, which is not uncommon, I would put it on for self preservation.

If someone health is not going up after one burst heal then you know and no need to spam it after that, and you used what, 2 combat prayers and one whatever class skill you use ? Not even the third of your magica bar. If you are pugging, then people are using strange sets and builds all over anyhow. Tanks with 14k health. DDs with 30k health. I main a healer. Not one pug knows what the gold olorime ring on the ground is. One ranged attacker is on the other side of the room, behind the tank, light attacking and spamming the matriarch just in case. The other one is pew pewing the boss standing behind my back. Not getting any buffs, any heals, must use rapid regen all the time. The ring is going to change things ? Well, yes, I hope, at least the pug will get some healing and I can swich to dps gear :) I pug to practice , guild runs are too fast and smooth and you learn nothing, the bosses are melting. Pugs are fun ! And the ring is fine.
