I hope this is a bug and not a feature. Void Pitch becomes Purple.

Void Pitch becomes purple instead of "darkest black so far" when it is applied on some armor pieces.

not terribly surprised, noticed it had a purple tinge to it after i put it on a few pieces.

im more apathetic about it after having to just:

    -"180, e, 180, e, 180, e, 180, e, 180, e," (grapple challenge)
-"use portal, afk till timer runs out, use portal, afk till timer runs out" (spend time in other dimension challenge)
-"heavy attack orb, run for 10 seconds, heavy attack orb, run for 10 seconds" (run on lava challenge)

for mind numbing amounts of time for challenges that were just time sinks and nothing else in what boiled down to:
-do the dungeon twice in a different order.
    -collect all the orbs.
    -beat the secret bosses.

my fingers actually hurt a bit on some of those.

always annoyed when devs hold back some basic cosmetic functionality, like a basic color, for some unknown and dumb reason.

There are so many colors that take on weird shades that look nothing like the colored button in the selection menu or what it's name suggests it would look like.

Color fidelity is an unknown concept for ZOS :disappointed:

I tested it on PTS, because I don't have Legate Black and hoped to get some deeper black dye than Coldharbour Ash... It was dark purple on PTS as well, so I guess it's intended :/

I'm sure that many people will appreciate this new color, but it's definitely not the darkest black color :o The darkest purple :)

it is definitely not the "darkest purple" on a lot of other materials...

let's just say it's the darkest black on some and the darkest purple on others. i tested it on a lot of poorly dying heavy armor pieces, where even legate's black gets grey, and liked it a lot there.

    It's a feature

The dye system has always had weird results, so much so that it's easier to ignore the 'claimed' colour and just try them all out to see what colour they really are on the item you want to dye! (and if you actually 'like' the resulting combination)

Having spent some time 3d modeling and texturing, one thing to keep in mind when doing that is you never want to use 'true black' and adding just a hit of color can make the object you're rendering come out darker and with more detail than just 0, 0, 0 would as a color, probably why it has that tint and it would probably look worse without.

Same. I'd wager most 'pure' colors would have that effect, but yeah. This is what I was thinking when I was looking at the screenshots as well. I'd have much preferred they broke it up with the white, but it's possible that it may look too similar to Legate's Black. I'll have to play with it once I get it!

I think it depends on motif too

For me it looks even darker than legate black

Has been purple on pts too, depending on the lighting and the material it's applied on it comes out as a basically black void or a glimmering purple.
In the character selection menu the colour will look extremely purplish but in game it's black more often than purple (again based on the piece you applied the colour on)

Still, why can't we have colors that are consistent with their names and in appearance?

For example, why is "Legate's Black" a light grey on the Telvanni Master Wizard custome or the "jacket" part of the new Dark Passions Regalia custome? If I wanted them to be dyed in a light grey I'd choose a f***ing light grey color and not black!

I think the clue is in the name.. Void

A lot of 'void' stuff I've come across is purple in one form or another, so where it will look quite dark on some things, other surfaces will show a tint.

It depends on materials, some dye differently, it's not the dye but the armor that causes it. Some materials have always been this way.

But no matter what material I apply a black dye to, i expect it to dye the material black, not light grey. Sure different materials could have different tinges of the color, but overall it should still look like what the color name and color button at the otufit station suggest!

Some armor motifs shift the color of the dye for some reason.
