Just look at anyone running by in a dress or robe and you'll see what he means. I know when I played GW2 I was taken back by the fact the dresses had actual physics and didn't hug my character's legs!

It would be much better even if the flap was shaped like, say, on Greymoor light chest. Something less round.

It would be better if they just did away with these hideous things, and tossed out the tassets with them. Or at least let us hide them. They aren't executed well if they hover away from your body, yet they implemented them anyway.

Maybe this thread should have been called “Dark Passions Regalia Flap Flop”. 🤣

They do seem to have a thing for the flappys

My wife pointed out that if there is one thing she cannot stand in a dress it’s a separate front flap, says it feels like your being mithered by a rouge curtain 😂

I went to town and watched for that. I see what you mean. I just hadn't paid attention before, and I rarely wear robes myself.

I don't think the issue is with sexy women in videogames. It's when female characters are only given sexy options to wear. (Which isn't the case at all in ESO btw). And males are given 0 sexy options to wear.
Sexy females are okay, non sexy females are okay, sexy males are okay and non sexy males are okay too. But when some games only make sexy females and unsexy males. It does feel of sexism. And it's directly taking away options from people too.
I personally do like non sexy females because I think it's a much less used trope in games and media, and I like my sexy males because it's eye candy and also not very used trope in media, unless it's for laughs, or to be weird.
In tera most female armor is sexualized and most male armor is not, which is an issue IMO, for example.
As for this costume, hmm not my cup of tea, I don't like the flap as usual, and the jacket is too short. I would make the jacket longer and remove the flap. Now it looks like a slutty child boy scout version of a vampire outfit.

This, 100%! I’ve heard that Tera is one of the worst offenders in this regard; I’ve never played it and never will. GW2 aggravated me enough with this — most clothing for human females was scanty with weird cut-outs while the male counterparts looked totally different. Oh, and makeup, it was impossible to create a female human without makeup and impossible to make a male with. No wonder I almost exclusively played sylvari in GW2!

This is one of the things I love ESO for and I wouldn’t mind if there were even more stylish and sexy options, so long as they continue to not be gender exclusive, because we have all sorts of options. :) This particular outfit doesn’t appeal to me, but that’s purely a matter of taste. I enjoy collecting motifs and costumes!

Some women do, some don't. Both options are valid, as long as it's individual's choice.
But the whole idea that female sexuality only exists to appease men is sexist af. There's plenty of women irl who buy lingerie, do makeup etc because they enjoy it (even if no one gets to see said lingerie). There are even modders like Krista (nsfw link), who actually like the whole armored bikini aesthetic.
Thing is, it's much more complicated then "catering to 12 year old boys". I don't care about this specific outfit, but I hate the notion that women, even digital ones, must be covered no matter what. Female body is not some filthy thing that must be hidden away.

Indeed. It's not like there are women who also likes seeing other women in sexy clothing is there? :o

It only becomes an issue and sexist when one sex is restricted to one specific look. Like all female clothing being sexualised with no "un-sexy" options. Both female and male characters should get sexy and un-sexy options. ESO is actually lacking in the sexy male costumes....
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

I think the flap does not look bad, but that people are upset because of the general lack of skimpy AND good looking costumes.

Nordic bathing towel is skimpy, but ugly (not detailed, just a rough towel with thick chains, dying issue, hard to get a shiny look).

So now we have one that actually has pretty sexy hotpants, but covers them with the flap. And you cannot see them yourself most of the time, as the back-view shows the long jack. So people see another missed chance of a sexy, good looking costume.

Please ZOS, you have good designers, you have a skimpy costume, please combine both to give us a small collection of costumes many people really would love to see.

I hate nordic bathing towel on females because of how it's separated in two parts. Just let me wrap me char in a single piece of fabric, tyvm.

I agree with the crotch flap hate as much as the next person, But its also doubly annoying that you cannot change the metal colour on the outfit either.

[snip] Without the flap they'd have to design two different pieces versus using flap one piece. So quicker and easier I'd say is your reason.

The outfit got stunning on all my female vampire characters and I really found it fashionable. Enough of robe styled outfits ... its always good to have different outfit styles to match all tastes and this one was just incredibly creative and nice.
Loved it and so all my female vampire characters:)

This. Limits so much dying options for the perfectionists on us that they are forced to stay golden.. i wanna dye them SILVER in most color combos i would dye the costume. The 3rd color slot should have been for the golden part.

Play how you want = dye how you want! :joy:

ZOS, listen to us and make Outfitting great again, it is the true endgame anyways. ;)

I'm the opposite as I actually don't mind the hip guards on armor at all. As long as they are not ridiculous of course with tons of spikes and other silly things. Like for example the Imperial Jerkins don't have flaps but they do have hip guards and they work just fine!

I don’t spend a lot of time see the full-frontal view of my characters, so the front flap is not really an issue to me. One of my female vampire’s uses it but I must admit it reminders me [snip] in the loading screen and I cannot un see it now after someone told me that in one of my guilds when it was released. Beyond that I like the outfit.

Be safe and have fun :)
