What's The Point Of Going For Master Angler In DLC Zones?

Master Fisher in base games has dyes and the title as a reward. Fishing in Summerset has the recipes (and I believe the fishing motif).

I understand that people may like fishing or be driven to get every last achievement point in the game, but I'm just wondering what incentives there are to spend hours fishing in these other DLC zones, besides possible furniture recipes (and master roe, but that's from everywhere).

TLDR: Is it ever worth fishing outside of Summerset, aside from getting the Master Angler title?

Mostly getting achievement, fish, and perfect roe. Summerset and Artaeum are the only ones with extra rewards AFAIK.

It depends on whether they introduce a new 'perfect master angler' next patch for doing the same thing and make the existing title achievable by catching your first fish.

Right, so for now, unless you're going for the vanilla Master Angler achievement, those are the only 2 good zones to fish in (unless you just like exploring, etc.)

I definitely think this needs to be a thing. Even if all you get is like 1 dye and the AP, it'd make fishing in other DLC zones relevant.

There was old thread where somebody made excellent suggestion: to add many different boat furnishings for Master Anglers in different zones.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/395932/eso-fishing-unlock-vessels-by-completing-vanilla-angler-achievements/p1

I would really love this, because I don't like basic boat which we get from Master Angler achievement - it doesn't look cool enough :/ I always had a fisherman dream of having a cool boat on top of the fountain in my Chateau, and even nowadays I still hope for it to come true.

just for the perfect roe mostly. Would be nice if fishing gave more than just that in other zones than base game yes, since they dont give progress towards master angler. Fishing achievement in dlc zones, is 5 points and take like 10 hours to complete?

Well, the Artaeum recipes are account bound, so once you have them, you don't need to go back there.

If you are fishing for roe, then might as well work towards an achievement while you do it.

Personally, I try to get as many achievements done for a zone as I can, and that includes the fishing, which we sometimes do as a guild activity.

I actually didn't get my recipes from my own fishing. I decided to buy some satchels because I was getting bored, and got them. The point of fishing in the satchel zone is that it gives you overall more gold/time spent, compared to fishing in random zones with no rewards beyond achievement points (which are just for bragging rights) and seeing the scenery of a zone (which you could do anytime, in a number of ways).

Not necessarily. There's a CP 160 blue food that uses fish as an ingredient. Since those fish can come from anywhere, it doesn't matter where you're fishing at. Perfect Roe can also come from any fish, according to legends I've read... ahem, so fishing anywhere for that is also viable.

I honestly didn't get this for a second until I checked back and saw this. "Your current VMA and DSA Weapons will not be automatically upgraded to Perfected versions." I don't want to derail the discussion or anything, but this is why I don't even have purple gear on my main yet lol. Better to enjoy all aspects of the game and have fun with it, then to min/max and get nerfed into the ground, haha.

I wish we could fish everywhere and the fishing spots are for the good things ( i mean just white fish without fishing spot and the other stuff / rare fish in the spots), so we can relax a bit, also this white fish could be a "new currency" so you get an NPC where you can swap the fish for awesome things, well the white fish is the "common currency" and together with specific fish you can get special loot (motifs, pets, skins, mounts, ever seen the shark mounts from rift? Would be a good "easter egg" hinting to the maybe existing, maybe not existing "weresharks") would also be good to fish crocodile pets or sep adders ( in real life we have water snakes so why not water sep adders), there could be some sort of water atronachs as pets, for fishing pets you could need more than one pice from the pet to get it.

I mean they could make it possible for every farming node to drop "rare leaves" (like "rare oddly red cornflower petal", i thought cornflower petals were blue?), or rare metals ( like "molten and frozen gold nugget", it looks liquid but feels cold?), or rare auras (from glyphs, like "swirling green aura", it ported in your bag, but you did not pick it up,or did you, you can not remember...?), spriggans, animal like attronachs (still looking like some sort of element), spiders (from jute or higher tier clothier materials) and so on. And then implement NPC Vendors for these things to sell special things for the "new material currencys". And yes, i like collecting stuff in this game.

I think a couple easily implemented improvements would be:
    • Zone-specific furnishings from fishing. We already get some aquatic-themed furnishings like corals and kelp, but it would be easy to add some Thieves Guild related furnishings to Hew's Bane, Dark Brotherhood ones to Gold Coast, Elder Argonian for Murkmire, etc.
    • Adding "bottles/satchels" with a chance for zone-specific motif pages similar to Summerset.
    • Re-tooling the rare fish to be able to actually fillet them for an increased chance at perfect roe. Green = 10%, Blue = 25%, Purple = 50% increased odds... or something like that. Currently, having them as "treasure" to simply sell is a wasted opportunity.
    • Add new alchemy reagents and/or provisioning ingredients available from harvesting the rare fish. Just like other living alchemy sources (torchbugs, butterflies, etc) you would not be guaranteed to get a reagent upon harvest. In the case of provisioning, some new recipes could be added too in the form of the "message in a bottle" mentioned above.

This could potentially add another niche industry for people who enjoy fishing in ESO. You know, those crazy folks like @MyNameIsElias !

ZOS should also jump on board if for no other reason than it might give people incentive to go replay old content.

It's almost as though the ZoS devs lack innovation when brainstorming what would be good rewards for master fishing achievements..

After all the hard work ppl put into grinding to accomplish said achievements.

Would it kill them to make these boat achievements FUNCTIONAL i.e.

    1. function as a REAL BOAT which would let you sit down, fast travel (by load screen) to the nearest deep part of water off shore. So that you could do some immersive fishing?

    2. Add a RNG chance of catching treasure and treasure chests. Which could contain RNG quality of furniture, different quality (green, blue, purple, gold) food/drink recipes, gold coins, potions, clothing, fragments of treasure (like Inodril feathers etc). Heck, even a Thieve's Trove chest. THAT would make fishing more appealing for non achievement and/or immersion driven gamers.

    3. As a platinum master reward for a well earned achievement (for all the work put into doing ALL angler challenges in ALL DLC zones) --actually have a full sized ship function as a FREE FAST TRAVEL POINT? You would be able to summon the boat whenever you're at an open body of water/coastline the same way you summon your mount. When boat materializes in the water, clicking on it would let you fast travel to a designated point off the coast line on another part of the map. These pre-designated FT points could correlate with being within the vicinty of shrines. Or perhaps not (if shrine is too far inland). Which would add more value to fast traveling by boat as it would allow you to explore/access map areas that aren't serviced by a shrine near the coast on the map.

So much continued waste of potential in how these master achievement rewards are designed. Why does ZoS keep missing the power curve so much in this regard?
