Back in my day girls didn't got flirtmessages from random people (mainly because no one believed there are girls in the game). Felt really uncomfortable today, but I am to friendly to destroy someones attempts.

    Back in my day...

the only perk you got from a sub was being able to play the game.

No craft bag, no extra bank space, no storage chests in homes. In fact, storage in banks was even smaller than it is now.

You had to level up every character separately through vet ranks. Be like CP only applying to one character that you leveled it on and every other character had to earn their own CP. And there were no XP bonuses and XP was not as generous as it is now and there was no sliding scale to make lower level easier to level.

Every zone had it's own level mobs.

Some of the quest fights like Doshia and Mannimarco were actually hard.

Everyone had purple weapons, or eventually red weapons b/c there was no outfit system or dying. And you had to constantly re-earn the same gear b/c they would up the Vet level from 12 to 14 to 16 like how they are doing us with the vMA weapons now.

    There were no guild stores.

There were no stam morphs of class skills.

There were no transmute stones, you farmed until your fingers bled if you wanted a good trait or you used a bad trait.

Stats were 10% of what they are now, instead of 20000 health, you'd have 2000.

We only had horses as mounts, and you had to buy them for that crazy amount of gold you see them listed for at the stablemaster (and let me tell you at launch there were a lot less ways to make gold than there are now). And you had to have one horse for speed, one for gear and one for stamina b/c the one horse went up to 60 speed, another went to 60 stam and another to 60 carry cap. - the other stats stayed at 50.

and PvP was fun and mostly worked.

Doshia was seemly impossible to kill and hitting VR15 was party time! Huzzah!!
    :)

*** gods, Doshia .. *shivers* .. I forgot many things, but I still remember her .. the nightmares.. the nightmares

I feel like I’m the only person who enjoyed pre-nerfed Doshia lol

I'm with you, buddy. The thrill when you finally got that you could interrupt her and use AoE skills to kill the healing orbs (back when you didn't know what an AoE skill was).

Also, in my day you paid a monthly sub to play the game, so ZOS had to keep you interested in playing. Now they just need a few suckers who'll pony up for pixels and fluff, even if they just come and go to be replaced by new suckers.

i sooo remember her. died and died and died. finally beat her with like 1 life left. i had no idea what to do for quite some time. was still all confused about playing, period. new to mmos. did i say i died? :)

she was especially hard in glenumbra as there was really no room to kite her.

I think it was Stonefalls. Most of my characters are DC and Doshia is fought in a decent sized room, but I think I remember EP players complaining about how much harder it was for them.

no no. it is def glenumbra. i fought her in all 3 zones. you couldnt get her out the entrance into the larger area. either she didnt come or she reset. it was a small room for sure.

Back in my day regions were level gated and one could outlevel a region pretty easily before even having completed it - it was terrible and is nowadays by far better.

🤬 I hated outleveling a zone before I finished it.
Oh and starting the next Fighters Guild quest too soon and getting stomped by the Dwemer Spheres. Or when I didn’t realize starter islands were a thing and finding it impossible to kill the very first boss you encounter in the Auridon zone quest because my character level was too low.
Yeah overland and quest bosses are way easy now, but I don’t think I would have stuck around without the flexibility of One Tamriel.

Back in my day, I did crafting the hard way.
    A patron wanted 200 Shields?
I had to manually craft each and every one of them.
And, I felt accomplished doing so, more than I do now.

There was no Crown Store in the beginning and you are right, the only "guild store" was if you took a keep in Cyrodiil. XP drinks werent around yet iirc, and Ring of Mara was only XP boost.

Imperial was blue? I didn't get into crafting until later, so I don't remember that, but was it a more frequent drop?

All motifs were blue. They changed it to reflect their rarity, hence playable races stayed blue, rare motifs like Daedric or Barbaric changed to purple, and Imperial was made gold. Idk if they tweaked the drop rates then, but Imperial was always the rarest motif from those available at launch.

In 2016 an emp nightblade or magsorc can solo a defended keep. I think there still footage on youtube. People complaint about nerfing and balancing but I think its better now. There some player who can find tanky and high damage build but never seen one able to solo keep, at most an outpost.
