this is a really pointless benchmark, since it very much depends on what you do in Cyro. Questing, Dungeons, hanging out at home base having a glass of wine and nice chats... why would you die there at all, xept from liver failure ;) Otoh, even when playing the map it really depends on the situation, if you're constantly fighting outnumbered you'll probably have more deaths than the other way round...

A somewhat more telling benchmark for me when evaluating a build is kill/death ratio or even better, killing blow/death ratio. But even that very much depends on what I actually do. Solo or grouped, zerg surfing or small scale...

Fair points. That said, the problem with killing blow/death ratio is it would ... or at least should tilt heavily towards Magplars. In the right setting - enough of my fellow troops in front of me - I can get 2 or 3 dozen kills just spamming the beam into a crowd nearly blindly. Change the scenario to a fair one on one fight and I’m gonna lose or draw against most good players.

Moral of the story ... don’t fight fair. 🤣

I sort of feel like there's little excuse for ever dying on a magblade...

It’s mostly just situational awareness of knowing when to move from the wall, to the inner building, to upstairs, and finally when to make my final stand.

you're gonna run in to a whole bunch of goofy *** out there - cuz, people do goofy things...hell, every once in a while i'll get myself burned up from someone pouring oil (often, it's some oil with no visuals cues, but still enough time playing you should be able to anticipate that oil is being poured by the door)...

but, most definitely one of my pet peeves is when folks hang on the outside wall once the keep is flagged...unless there's a group of folks getting ready to push and attempt to wipe the enemies trying to get in (with a camp set up in the back of the keep hopefully) - once the keep's flagged it's time to head to the inner keep...

Depends how bold I'm feeling.... And usually I'm very bold. If I see a fight I can win, and I got people behind me ready to assist, I will run into the fray; Otherwise I'll retreat to try and find people to help out.

Reason voted the way I do is usually in this fight I believe I can win more enemies show up. I'm not really good at taking on a lot of people as I'm built around focusing on a single target till it drops.

I usually play a healer, just there to get enough AP for my transmute crystals.

Usually at the back or in the middle of the zerg I am following, only really die when the zerg gets overrun by an enemy zerg.

People sometimes focus me due to being a healer, sometimes they kill or run away when they figure my sets are applying major and minor defile to them costing them 60% of their healing, leaving them vulnerable to everyone else there and even my modest damage. Thought about wearing sanctuary to act as bait to draw players in to take advantage of this but would rather wear other sets.

I don't time it, but I'll die about 15-30 times in a 3/4/5 hour season with at least 120+ kills

Depends on who I'm playing. If I'm playing my tank, it often takes a bit. But I have more DPS types than tank types, and I tend to play aggressively and do a lot of killing but also a lot of dying, so I guess I'd average out to once every 10 minutes. Obviously more if defending against an overwhelming force or what have you during sieges.

I don’t die that much in Cyro, once I stopped playing with ANY kind of emotion. I don’t get angry much anymore. Don’t tbag any more. Don’t whisper people and don’t read hate tells. If I do get angry I calm right the f down and think.

A normal day is kill 100+ people die once or twice. It’s not unusual to go whatever and 0. I went 125 and 0 the day I made GO2 and just stopped on that number.

I went 168 and 4 one day and really thought that was a bad day. My KDR since, I unno 6,7 months ago when I had to reinstall Kill Counter is 12.95. That includes dueling this fool who is really good and getting DROPPED a few months back.

I 1v1, 1vX, and Xv1. I fight whatever shows up, however it shows up.

My deaths generally go like this. 1v1 vs someone REALLY good, or someone running ACTUAL cheese, or 1v1 against someone where I just did EVERYTHING wrong lol-just literally hit the wrong buttons.

Or I ran around a corner, thinking I’m fighting 1 or 2 people and run smack into like 20.

Or truly my skills ain’t firing, or I’m stuck on one bar.

I found that I died less once I stopped caring if I died and when I made a habit of thinking about WHY I died.

i play glass cannon builds and i dont straight run away from fights, i die a lot. I usually die 20 to 30 times in one-two hour play session.

I respect that. You may want to find a tree to run around sometimes though 🤣

Usually play 2 or 4 hour sessions in Cyro, tend to die 5 times/hour on average. Depends a lot on what's happening on the map, and how bored I get. Sometimes I tend to play a lot more aggressive than is smart for a sniper build which does gives me more killing blows, but also more deaths. I do die less and less there over time at least. Ignoring ball groups more often probably halved the amounts of deaths I've gotten there.

It depends on if I'm solo or in a small group. If I'm in small group I go where the most fights are while having to time my burst and helping group mates while kiting a large group. If I'm solo it's definitely a lot longer mostly over an hour at least. I only need to worry about my buffs and my placement while I can choose to fight a 4 man or not pretty much. The patch a couple of weeks ago definitely helped my survivability since lag didn't desync me as much and random load screens didn't pop up. I run dark cloak on my Magblade so it was fun being able to survive for over an hour without lag really screwing me up.

Rarely die in Cyrodiil. I was killed mostly because of ZOS' fault.
Door can't open, pulling out of stealth by ZOS, being hit and my skills are not working,
being hit with 5 to 20+ skills in 1 shot by the same person, etc.

almost never, and i'm actually kinda bad at PvP. This is due to NB invisible skill, i use it to escape from tough situations. And no, i'm not ganker ) Not even close.

However, i think sometimes way better just die, so you can respawn at point where enemies are going. Instead, my character continue to live for no reason, other than being as scouting bot.

Most of the time I get less than 5 deaths over few hours of playing solo, if I have more than 10 which is very rare, I consider it as pretty bad.

    Edit:
And oh, I'm actually playing PvP ;);) Usually my kill counter shows something between 120-80.

It’s weird, I’ve got more into Cyrodiil since MYM (who knew a little taste would drag me back in).

I’ve managed to get all the skyshards, dungeons, quests, all the lorebooks bar the ones craftily concealed beneath other world items, stolen 3 scrolls and managed to make someone else emperor more than once.. I’ve been killed exactly twice and managed to elevate myself to the lowly rank of corporal.

I’ve died so often in PVP zones, it no longer phases me...except when I’ve snuck all the way into enemy territory, alone, for a simple quest or skyshard and then die without a keep anywhere nearby to make up for it. I hardly do this anymore.

I’ve recently got into a great guild and I die less now. I used to be a 100% PVE player but the guild is smart and capable, so I made one alt a PVP healer and am enjoying it. Still doesn’t phase me when I do die though.

At least this game isn’t FFXI where if you die you lose exp. I lost like 3 levels in that game all at once, once. Yeah, that was more frustrating.

    Once an hour or less?

Are you people RPing at the home gates?

I went 77 and 1 playing three hours tonight. Started off 4 and 1. Killed 1 guy. Killed 2 more. all 1v1's. Rode to an X on the map. Thought I was entering something like a 3v3 and ended up in a 1 v FACTION (AD late night lmao). Dropped one before they got me. There was a LONG faction vs faction vs faction fight at Alessia. Hour and a half at least. Dropped a ton kiting, you know hopping behind rocks and trees. Most of the AD didnt know what they were doing, bunching up in the open. There was at least 1 ball group playing hero. All them fools got mopped. DC mostly just stood and watched. I saw a DC streamer bait some pugs into some rocks. Then i was like "F it!" I ran over there and made sure he died. Coming out to a 50v50 and trying to 1vx pugs. Ok, film this lmao.

Day before I went 61 and O. AD faction stacked Arrius. Them fools rode past a TON of red keeps just so they could fight as ONE ENTIRE FACTION at Arrius. I said "F it!" I set up by this one rock and some trees and ganked like 5 or 6 stragglers 1v1 just to keep them honest. Like you REALLY think you can just ride up to a red keep, join your ENTIRE faction and think it's all gravy. Nah, you gonna have to BRAWL round here. Mind ya I'm on a Magdk lol.

Day before that I went 80 something and 2. Started off with a legit 1vx. I versus four. Baited one killed him. Killed the next two together getting one of them low. Killed the other one. The last one tried to run . killed him. Two were 1100 cp or so. one was 900. the last one was level 22. Saved him for last.

Day before that I was testing some cheese. Put 37 into to Siphoner to see what was up. The results were inconclusive. folks ran or died. I went 58 or 59 and 0.

Cyrodill nowdays is filled with a bunch of newer players who just have no idea what they are doing. Build-wise or fighting. Using RAT provides a TON of mobility on a MagDk. It's STRONG. With the nerfs to bleeds, dots (except mine), oblivion damage , and defile, running Snb Ice Staff, BTB Succession,1 Domihaus, 1 whatever is is ALL RIGHT. Templars are tough. Sorcs can be a chore. I can get em 1v1 if I watch my resources and stay offensive. I aint saying I'm the greatest PvPer in the world. Any REALLY SKILLED player can get me in a 1v1 cause I dont duel as much as I should. Always seemed like gimp fests to me: "Can't run this. Can't run that. THAT'S Cheese!" But I can brawl a lil bit. I REALLY just dont die that much in Cyro. Choosing the right spots to fight I'd day was key. Positioning. Having mobility and a way out in a pinch. and DAMAGE for days.Great sustain and good mitigation and %damage reduction.
